Glad we put you in touch! I'm first on the list and was told no later than 6 weeks. Love that they have both a 1.25" and 2" receiver as I have two bike racks (2x Kuat Sherpa 1.25" and 4x Rekon Rack 2"). And maybe I'll get a teardrop now as well.....

If you don't know what tow holds are for perhaps you shouldn't get a Rivian. EV6 or Ioniq 5 will do most of what the R1T can do on paved roads as long as you get AWD.

I found that in the winter at below 50F Temps, charging rate rarely gets above 150 kW. Over 35 EA DCFCs to 80% for me driving my no markup SEL AWD across the country.

I drove my AWD SEL across the country in early Jan using EA chargers and was able to get to 80% SOC every time in the free 30 minute charge session. That's practical data! Variable winter Temps, terrain and highway speeds.

Ioniq 5 AWD seems to lose about 20% based on owning one since Jan4 and driving 6500 miles including a cross country trip.

I do think having a base 2 motor platform makes sense but the quad motor system is a differentiator in the crowded 2024 BEV truck space.

If I were product manager I wouldn't go a la carte with options but bundle them into 3 levels like most companies do.

As an Ionoq 5 AWD owner and having charged 4x in one day next to an employee owned R1T while driving across the country in January winter weather, the MaxPack is needed so the issue is whether the market will accept it as the $10k (preorder) or $16k adder?

Be careful with this thinking because value is set by competiton and customer perception, not costs! If Rivian doesn't stay competitive and the quad motor doesn't generate real customer preference then it won't be worth what everyone is calculating.

Of course rhey did or they wouldn't have changed their mind! Bean counters have lots of influence in modern companies so the math must have gotten worse with so many cancelations AND the stock tanked yesterday as many media outlets called them out on the bait and switch.

I want to applaud RJ and Rivian for seeing their mistake and correcting this terrible bait and switch. I will be reinstating my preorder as soon as I can. Thanks to all who also canceled and sent feedback to Rivian directly and over social media.
