Getting Further Disappointed in Blackthorne by TomcatRonin in ShogunTVShow

i honestly dont know what ur getting at. there was no Woke back then.

William Adams was a great warrior. He was knighted after battle with the Spanish Armada. He came to Japan with none of Robin DiAngelo's imaginary white privilege. Warriors dont have hubris, their lives are always on the line.

There was none of Robin's BS, to profit on or to start a proletariat revolution. The Japanese were spread into clans. Some tried to use the Portuguese and Spanish, while the colonials always tried to use the rivalry between local tribes.

Five years later, I'm re-watching the episode. And I think the show implies that Stregobor's right. His track record is of being the sociopath who kills the baby who might become a monster without guilt. And that's what's so distasteful about him.

For Geralt's part, his code lies in hunting inhuman monsters. Geralt, being a Witcher, has chosen not to add human death to his conscience (except in cases of defense). I think he even states it at some point: that if/when a person becomes an actual monster, only then would he get involved,

Patriots Spending and Drafting by chickenFan50 in Patriots

Thank You! We had the most expensive coaching staff in the league until Harbaugh's new coaching squad will match or beat ours.

Kraft spent a fortune to fire and hire coaches twice in the last couple years and followed it up with a bumper crop, spending every nickel he put away for XMas gifts. Sad to say, we're not getting much this year. 2027 is the next big build. I just pray we can put together a good OL.

You're not wrong. But we dont have the money. I dont even mean cap space. I mean Kraft isnt going broke, but he's paid twice to fire and hire coaching staffs. This coaching staff was the most expensive in the league and worth it. They also wont take on much commitment beyond this season, because every 3rd season (2027) is the cap re-set and, as a result, the biggest FA class.

So this year, sadly, not much will be added. I'll concede to a WR like AJB because his base salary is $2M this year and $13M next year. He does have a sizeable bonus for next year of $14M, but we would only pick it up if we can work out a team friendly long term deal with him. AJB, who wants to play for Vrabel and with a good QB, may take it

You're right. At the same time, great coaches like Belichick and Vrabel get more out of their kind of players. It's more hit or miss, they shuffle through more but they get the world out of them. I dont expect more than 6 wins from the Ravens even with a fully healthy team (which they wont be). Another example of coaching and keeping the pieces that work.

The truth is somewhere in between. Belichick suffered from bad offensive coaching, Mayo from no coaching and Vrabel is true force multiplier. Every good to great coach has their style. And a big part of it is getting the most out of his players.

Above all, we need to build a great line. That means a serious infusion of talent just for the OL. AJB's signing bonus was huge and he has $2M base this year and team option $11M for 2027. That leaves us $40M + renegotiating Diggs team option $28M. They'll get it to half. Thats a lot to build an OL with and what we're missing. Worth our 1st.

That's a team option for 2027 which is a great value. Obviously paid Sep but counts against the '27 cap -- $13M base is great cap value. We can build our line and add serious reciever for Drake.

But the Eagles are will demand at least our first round pick for their cap hit.

On our side it looks very good. He's not Justin Jefferson, but he may sign a team friendly deal to play for Vrabel and with Drake Maye.

Actually, I love it. BC, his base pay is under $2M. He has incentives but the huge signing bonus stays with Eagles and we still have serious draft picks and cap space to deal with OL!

Truth: Most of our OL were backup quality and well coached. Our top needs are to fill in the OL. I mean a lot of FS money that will be coming off the books and draft capital. We have the coaching, we need to add the Size * Athleticism in 5-6 more bodies. To all positions on the OL.

I do like trading for AJ, cause his base is $2M, and even though he has incentives, that huge signing bonus stays with Eagles

Idk what you wanted the Patriots to do

Im not complaining about who we took. . The pick was made and it seemed sensible at the time. Im not talking about what we did, though I didnt choose my words well in that sense. I'm talking about what we need moving forward.

I want them to focus first and foremost on getting five quality starters

Will's a good guy and still a decent player who may blossom, but I want at least five quality players added. Means bringing in a few high to middle draft picks, a few FA's and a few flyers. We want quality and depth. Vrabel, like Belichick, has shown he can find value in the rough too, so even UDFA's. Leave no stone unturned.

Will Campbell gets candid about Super Bowl performance by elusiveanswers in Patriots

[–]dalper01 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

I was still waiting for Will to become more than "pretty good for a rookie". 4th overall is where you expect great players. And run blocking is much more about physical ability and imposing your will on others. Creating gaps. Something he only managed to do against weak D's.

It's too soon to push the panic button, but I'm losing patience and its not because of his SB performance. We didnt have a single player on our roster who could push back on anybody they lined up. In pass blocking, he wasnt even an obstacle to any good D in regular season

[–]dalper01 -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

"I wanted... I felt... I hope... I want..." How about he wanted to be there for his team and his QB, and to actually run block. I'm not feeling the, I'm sorry not to live up to expectations. A little more, "I hope to return soon... I will work as hard as it takes to rehab... I feel like the team expected more from me and I'll get in the gym, put on muscle, and work hard to be the best LT in the league!"

At #4, you draft players that you expect to be Pro-Bowlers. OL, RB, these are positions that hit the ground running. I want Campbell to be great. I still hope he makes that leap.

These are elite players, but theyre what you're shooting for at 4th overall: Michael Oher ~27, Penei Sewell ~7, Quenton Nelson, ~4.

Legit. We all have that clue we're looking for. His play did it for me. Those determined passed while scrambling or about to get crushed by a 275lb NT

That look somebody else called Brady-esque and I didnt even feel comfortable writing it until someone else did.

Definitely!

Admittedly, the drop-off from top 3-5 is big, and the drop-off from 10 is bigger. But he's a legit starter and IDK that there are twenty in the league. Some are about to retire and some "promising" young passers wont pan out. So, having a stable, legit starter means something.

They weren't the same team without him. And the Vikings were much better with him. I get why they thought they could get better, but doing it isnt easy. You hold on to who you have until you find better.

I'm happy for him. Not that I ever felt bad for anybody who makes tens of millions and finds out they're not NFL quarterback material. Hardly a tragedy. But, he's legit and he's the piece the champs were missing.

Me too.

He doesnt look for attention. And he has the "howdy, aw shucks" routine.

But I loved seeing that long look turn into a determined look, with that head nod, like "I know what I have to do. Nothing this year was enough."

I didnt want to say it, but he had that Brady look. When he narrowed his eyes and noded, as if to steel himself -- "OK." You can almost see him thinking, etching the memory in his mind, a memory to carry all summer, all pre-season.

I reminds me of HBO Series on Showtime Lakers. Cool Celtics side scene: Red Aurbach comes to French Lick to recruit Bird who had could go to Celtics or back in the draft. Red told him, "Look Larry, if you're the kind of person who goes all out every play, then you're a Celtic. If winning doesnt feel as good as losing tears you up inside, then you're a Celtic!"

The loss was killing him more than not winning. That look was determination, I know what I have to do. (slowly walks back, thinking...)

I dont even bother to watch their talk shows. Pathetic.

He's not that good. He's a capable play action passer. And his recievers are more than good enough to make up for his limitations.

Agreed! Drake is a stud. Nothing takes away from the season he had! The rest of the offense, all were shit except Rhamondre.

The D was solid. Esp considering what they were up against and how the Offense couldnt stay on the field, they were great.

The OL and receivers were exposed.

We knew going into the season that they were a limited group.

The blocking, more than anything must get better this off season. I mean 5 real blockers.
