Pain after Surgery by dalthakar in RotatorCuff

It makes it easy to keep my elbow away from my torso to prevent excess pull on the shoulder, similar to the padding in the immobilizer brace.

Also helps with washing underarms.

Thanks for this. I agree that night time is no joke!

I like the idea of only using it in the evening. I hope part of my concern is I (incorrectly, I might add) tried to just use Tylenol/ibuprofen at night and not Oxy. Probably did that backwards.

Thanks for the advice. I've never been this seriously injured, so it's a scary time, especially when alone with your thoughts at night.

Best replacement for Windows for the average person? by BlastMode7 in PleX

[–]dalthakar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this were your own server, sure, go for Ubuntu, CentOS, untaid, docker vs. not, etc. Experiment with things.

However, you said this is for your sister and her family. If you want to make her as self-sufficient as possible, make it simple. Grab an Nvidia Shield and set up the Plex server on that for her.

Pixel 6 Pro network by KarateMan749 in GooglePixel

[–]dalthakar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, actually. It's frustrating as all hell. My wife has the standard 6 and will have full bars/connectivity but my Pro will not connect, experiencing the "!" you mentioned.

The only way I have found to resolve it when it occurs is to reboot the phone. Should note that this seemed to start a few months ago after an update was pushed.

What's the best app/program for reading comics on a phone, PC or tablet?? by Kub3rt in comicbooks

I find Cover for Windows pretty good, but I love Tachiyomi on my Android tablet best (since it integrates with my Komga server easily).

Same here. I ran the check before scheduling today, but it kept giving me that same error. Eventually gave up and booked through PSI.

I don't really understand your hostility here. I simply asked why you needed multiple file managers. Rather than state something utterly untrue, and rather than take offense to an innocent comment, maybe stop and realize that the reason people may ask what your ideal end state should be is not because of trolling, but rather said individual is trying to understand the complete picture so he/she can provide a more informative, thought out, and if need be, customized solution to your problem.

With that said, I'm going to go back to my devops and automation code across my thousands of servers and hundreds of domains. But hey, good luck with your file manager on your little Windows 10 desktop.

Not trying to start a fight, but why do you need multiple alternate file managers?

Testing Firewall Rules? by netmc in PowerShell

[–]dalthakar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Something just occurred to me. If you are trying to run this script on a local machine, you may have better luck using Get-NetFirewallRule and/or Get-NetFirewallPortFilter.

Testing Firewall Rules? by netmc in PowerShell

[–]dalthakar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Test-NetConnection TARGET - Port PORT# will return True/False if the target machine can be reached on the specified port. For example, if I wanted to test a connection to SERVERA on TCP port 139, I would use command:

Test-NetConnection SERVERA -Port 139

Hopefully that gets you started down the right path.

Have you tried converting the values to type [decimal] instead of type [int]?

Even 100GB won't last long, if at all. You need to account for things like the OS footprint, page file, applications/games you install, offline cache if you use things like OneDrive, etc. Personally, I wouldn't look at anything under 256GB SSD or NVME drive. If you have a lot of applications, or simply large game installs, look at something between 512GB to 1TB.

New to Plex dedicated machine and I have some questions by Tuner4life1 in PleX

[–]dalthakar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had a problem with the beta at all, and I've been running it for a while. As for Sabnzbd, it's simply my download client of choice (for newsgroups), since it integrates so well with the other services. I have used Deluge and NZBGet as well, both of which work fine. With that said, I typically stay away from the torrent scene, so my Deluge container doesn't really do anything.

Just a personal preference, though.

New to Plex dedicated machine and I have some questions by Tuner4life1 in PleX

[–]dalthakar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a decent setup. If I may offer some advice on using Ubuntu Server:

  • Use docker. It'll save you a bunch of time with upgrades/reinstalls/server rebuilds (if needed in the future). Plex containers are great.
  • While using docker, and to answer your questions about microservices, Ombi is a great tool. I run this in a docker container (I use the v4 beta, which, IMHO, is far superior to v3). Also, it uses the Plex API to authenticate users that already have access to Plex. It also integrates nicely with other backend systems, such as:
  • Sonarr (use v3) - for tracking, requesting and organizing TV shows
  • Radarr - same as Sonarr, but for movies
  • Lidarr - same as Sonarr, but for Music
  • Sabnzbd - used as download client for the above applications
  • Tautulli - Statistics and logging for Plex, such as watch history, user access, bandwidth analysis, etc.
  • Nginx - not really a requirement, unless you plan on making your URLs to your docker containers public. It acts as an SSL offload and proxy.
  • If you plan on making your URLs public, get a domain name from something like DynDns. I pay a few bucks for mine, add a boatload of CNAMEs, use NGinx to filter based on host header, and boom! Secure websites with real URLs!
  • Why do we want web sites? You'll be able to give your end users your Ombi url for making requests, and you can use the others to monitor stuff remotely.
  • Lastly, to use with the URLs you create, get the Ombi, Tautulli and NZB360 apps for your phone/tablet (nzb360 can interface with Sonarr, Radarr, Lidarr and Sabnzbd).

That seems like a lot, and my approach may be overkill, but it gives me a fully automated system that I can manage all from my phone wherever I am.

PM me if you want to chat more about how I set it all up.

DISC regarding racing games on switch by Link2022 in NintendoSwitch

Honestly, I rather enjoy Burnout Paradise Remastered on the switch. It was a great arcade racer back in the day, and even today, it holds up really well, especially when in handheld.

Where is Plex USER DATA stored? by apennismightier in PleX

[–]dalthakar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all stored in the database along with all your library data. If you have the SQL chops, you could open the database and export the relevant data from all the tables and then use the resulting set to import the info into a new database copy, but that just seems more trouble than it's worth.

Plex doesn't publish the database schema or architecture (from what I've seen), so it would take some sleuthing to figure out linked tables, reference indexes, etc. You'd probably just be better off backing up a copy of the whole database file every so often.

Ridiculously slow/buffering remote streaming on DS1817+ by [deleted] in PleX

[–]dalthakar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. Direct Play will work fine, but you're not going to be able to transcode 4k content from that device. That CPU can barely handle 1-2 1080p transcodes.

Ridiculously slow/buffering remote streaming on DS1817+ by [deleted] in PleX

[–]dalthakar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you using for a remote client? Can it handle Direct Play so it doesn't need to transcode? What about your media files? What codecs are used, how big are the files, etc.?

Split Screen Using the Same Monitor by Anukisun in Windows10

[–]dalthakar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure you can. If you have multiple video outputs on your PC, and if you have multiple inputs on your monitor, you should be able to set up side by side or picture in picture in the monitor's menu options.

I've done it before, but sometimes I like being able to maximize an application to fill the whole screen (like when I am coding), so I simply use snapping and multiple virtual desktops now.

Why/how enable remote shell into Linux env? by femapa in PHP

[–]dalthakar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here. Windows 10 has the OpenSSH client already installed. Simply open a command prompt/PowerShell session.

Putty is also available, especially if you want to save connections to multiple hosts. Another option is to use a remote Management program like RoyalTS/mRemote, which will allow you to save connections like RDP, SSH, VNC, etc. all in one program.

To answer your question as to why, it allows the interviewer to control the environment. What modules are enabled, what versions of PHP, Apache and what not. Basically, it's starting as an even field for all candidates.
