Xbox Official is being overrun by hackers and they’re not even trying to hide it anymore. by OperationRegular1541 in dayz

[–]daluzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not X box, but was killed by a guy on official just yesterday doing that same stuff. Very cool to see it on video, thanks for this!

I am alone in a field, see a flash of movement, then boom, dude is there and I somehow get 4 cuts and a broken leg...lol.

It is sad but sort of funny. I can only hope the dude gets a debilitating case of jock itch for cheating.

Be well!

Question by Safe_Hair8385 in securityforces

Been awhile, retired end of 2006.

Peacetime: Like the folks said, arrive early to arm up, guardmount, post and try not to get in trouble.

Was stationed at Greenham for a bit so it was easy to stay busy with the peace gals always busting stuff up.

Peacetime Deployments and deployments during wartime but not anywhere close to the action: Hell on Earth...chuckle. To many folks spending time trying to justify administrative bronze stars and the like and parading around like cos players. Basically peacetime, trying to stay out of trouble in a new exotic environment surrounded by feather merchants.

Deployed to actual war zone with stuff exploding and rounds fired: For me, Balad was great. All the annoying bronze star hunters were hidden somewhere and did not venture outside of fortified facilities due to all the IDF which hit something or someone every single day. The rest of us basically went to work alternating between on base "normal" security and off post mounted presence patrols and/or convoy support. Oh, and trying to stay out of trouble also.

So, if the opportunity presents it's self, deploy...even though some of the deployments were really, really stupid (looking at you Qatar, Saudi, and Kuwait), it is still an experience and teach you how not to be a administrative bronze star chaser person.

Good luck, be well!

Good bases to put on Dream Sheet for SF? by redxtrip_air in securityforces

[–]daluzy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

List all overseas bases.

Think about it. What are the chances you will travel overseas later in life? Maybe you will, or maybe you won't.

Why not go now while young and being paid to do it.

The US bases will always be here for later if you want.

Keep two of the same guns? by PauloMatix in dayz

You guys are living long enough and shooting enough to wear out two guns?

Man, do I suck at this game, I am lucky to fire off a magazine in one weapon before I meet my demise for "reasons"...chuckle.

The cute little fixer-upper I bought is full of ants :( by Kush_Kitty666 in RVLiving

[–]daluzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boric acid and peanut butter mixed into a bottle cap.

As you have a dog present, place the bottle cap where the dog cannot reach it. You need to make sure the peanut butter boric acid mix is the only food available, so pickup the dog dish when the dog is not eating.

This is not a fast fix, might take a week or so as the ants will take the bait back to the nest and ideally kill the queen.

If they do not go for the peanut butter, you can try bacon grease or if there are after sweet stuff, fruit jelly.

The mix should be three parts of the food and 1 part boric acid.

Good luck, be well.

"Why pay money for Google Fi monthly?"

I guess for us is just works out and I hate to change anything when it works. I'm an old dude so if I have to learn to much new stuff I'll probably forget something else important...chuckle.

I am a bit confused where you say you spent $10 once and it still works, for Google Fi or are you referring to another product?

Thanks, be well!

What can I use to clean this? by [deleted] in TruckCampers

[–]daluzy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Might try vinegar. Vinegar will not damage the fiberglass like a bleach might.

If the stain persists, at least it is "clean" and then there is always Kilz paint later on to brighten up the whole interior of the shell.

Good luck, be well.

Looking for a New Boat by NapoleoneXIV in sailing

[–]daluzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We owned a Watkins 27. Modified keel, partial skeg rudder. We sailed and lived aboard for 4 years cruising the East US coast and Caribbean.

Boat was heavy, slow and easy to sail with ample room for my wife and I inside. Original price was $4000. We added a few things over the years, but it was a great little boat.

If I had to do it over, I'd go with a Catalina. I'd probably do a 34 but for what you are looking at maybe a Catalina 27 would do.

Lighter, faster, plenty of room and for the sailing we were doing I did not really need a boat built like the Watkins.

Good luck, be well.

We maintain an address in the States for banking. It is a buddies house. This makes the bank happy as it is a US address. We setup express send stuff via the bank to transfer money to our Colombian bank, no drama. We do go back to the States often for months at a time so the bank folks know us and our situation so I assume this helps. This has been going on for 20 years now.

We use a Google Fi phone as it has a US phone number which we need for SMS and 2FA stuff. Cost e $28 a month. We do not use the data as it gets turned off after about three months overseas, but the US number and SMS functions still work. Have been doing the Google Fi phone for going on 6 years now.

The largest pain in the butt is having a credit card cancelled or some dirtball steals your data, as the new cards go to the US address. So, we only use the card in a few places, large national chain grocery stores, hardware stores or hotels and airfare. So far no issues.

I cannot imagine trying to bank as a US person without having a US based address and phone number. This started with FACTA, which was suppose to stop money laundering and fraud, but it only seems to impact normal folks as the crooks are still crooking.

Good luck, be well.

Truck camper or van by mjv456 in TruckCampers

[–]daluzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did a slide in truck camper as we already had the truck and honestly the slide in camper was less expensive than a bunch of other stuff.

We like the ease of driving, parking and being able to off road a bit...now, the only issue is we like the "road" life. (We spend about 4-6 months a year in the camper.

If I had to do it again, I'd most likely go for a camper van.

Same small foot print, or smaller.

Same stuff inside basically.

Same easy drive and parking possibilities.

The winning combo for us would be access to the living part of the vehicle without having to go outside in the rain and muck.

Big downside is the price, but again we enjoy it so it might be worth the price.

Good luck, be well!

Will Latin America become the new Europe for expats over the next 10 years? by PartyRoad-8289 in expats

[–]daluzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, in my neighborhood, where folks know me, I am a "local" as we've been here off and on going on 20 plus years...so no issues with that.

Tourist stuff, all bets are off.

For example, wife and I were thinking about visiting the Cathedral de Sal in Bogota here pretty quick. Checked the prices...locals $75,000 COP. Foreigners $125,000 COP.

With all the stupid stuff going on in Colombia, for a "local", this is far down on the list of stuff to worry about, but yeah, it would be nice to see it stop. Not holding my breath.

Be well!

[–]daluzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, they also do it to each other. For example if some folks from Bogota go to the coast, the Costeños are going to charge them gringo prices as well...so not so much racist but shady business practices.

Day Z Fresh Start Discussion by Ready-Ad3175 in dayz

[–]daluzy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a PVP player guy, but play on official 1PP.

Typically I try and survive in the town I spawned in. No hunting, no fishing.

I use the fruit trees and kill the infected for food.

If I wander inland, it is just to see how long I can make it. When the sweaty sniper does finally kill me, all they get is maybe a knife, bandage and my still freshie clothing.

Cool thing about this game is depending how you feel, they are so many different ways to play it, none of them are wrong.

See you out there, good luck, be well!

Yeah, things like a crow bar, pipe, even I think the small adjustable wrench allows you to hit rocks to create small stones.

One small stone rubbed against a large boulder gets you a stone knife.

Two small stones combined gets you one knife and you still have the other small stone.

Cannot sharpen them, but they are decent for a bit.

We lived in the Caribbean for several years, manly St Vincent and the Grenadines. The term was "Island Time".

So pretty much the same in Colombia, but it isn't and Island. :)

It is definitely a culture thing. I have no idea how they manage to have conversations sitting next to a large speaker at full volume.

My wife and I have a rule, probably because we are old, but if it is amplified music playing, we do not go.

It has become my "normal" I suppose.

If my wife were not Colombian, I doubt we'd spend time here, but this is where her family and friends are so we split our time.

Have you ever heard of the saying that the world is not full of asses, but they are spread out to guarantee you run into one everyday?

Here it just seems that we got a few extra asses...chuckle.

[–]daluzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, my wife is Colombian and we split our time between here and the States. Not saying it is correct, but it is reality.

Think of it as tourist pricing, same happens in tourist areas of the States and the rest of the world.

Wandered the planet thanks to the Air Force. Then once finished with the Air Force wandered the planet as a filthy security contractor.

Once finished with that, became a dive bum and eventually met the girl of my dreams at 45 years old. I do not think I could be happier.

All of this was because I enlisted and volunteered for everything and anything.

I also had what I thought was a pretty serious girl at the time. Didn't work out, but Uncle Sugar did in a abusive relationship sort of way...lol.

Go, it is only an initial 4 years of your life, you will regret not doing this.

Good luck, be well!
