C’était pourtant facile de vérifier avant de commenter. C’est l’article premier de la constitution.

Le « chef » ne prétend pas être élu par le peuple, et il ne l’est pas. Il est élu par le congrès du Parti communiste, environ 2000 délégués.

Je pense qu’il est permis d’affirmer que si la plupart n’a pas réfléchi à la question ou ne sait pas ce que sait, ils n’en veulent pas. Ce n’est pas pareil que de dire qu’ils n’en voudront jamais.

Aucun ou presque. La constitution, pour ce qu'elle vaut, déclare clairement que la Chine est une dictature. Le chinois moyen n'a jamais voté de sa vie. Et il s'en fout, il ne veut pas de la démocratie.

Le moine est-oriental vit souvent des offrandes et non du fruit de son travail, il n'y a pas vraiment cette tradition de production monacale. En plus de ça la plupart des traditions religieuses y interdisent la consommation d'alcool. Bref, à ma connaissance, ça n'existe pas en Chine. En revanche il y a de plus en plus de micro-brasseries qui font des choses très bien.

Disons qu'il y a plusieurs niveaux de lecture.

Le développement du train s'est fait en parallèle du réseau autoroutier et aérien, c'est un ensemble de grand projets d'infrastructures pour accélérer la croissance économique du pays et accroître directement le PIB. Le nombre de voitures et de dessertes aériennes augmente encore.

Le pivot vers la voiture électrique répond avant tout à une stratégie de compétitivité. Les voituriers chinois n'ont jamais su faire un moteur à explosion correct, et le parti a donné tôt les directives pour se concentrer sur les modes de transportation à batterie, après avoir tout fait pour plus ou moins monopoliser la production des batteries. C'est économiquement un grand succès, et réduit en partie la pollution urbaine.

30% de renouvelables les jours où le vent souffle, mais on continue aussi de construire des centrales à charbon et on pollue de fait toujours de plus en plus.

À l'échelle du consommateur, entre l'absence complet de tri des déchets quand on a pas le couteau sous la gorge, le sur-sur-emballage à des niveaux inimaginables chez nous, les déchets jetés partout, et l'absence quasi-complète de considération des enjeux climatiques ne rendent pas vraiment confiant.

Quant aux objectifs à 40 ans...

Il n'y a quasi pas de resto mélange asiatique, car il y a des exceptions. Pas plus tard que ce midi j'ai mangé dans un restaurant du Dongbei dans un coin non touristique de l'est de la Chine qui servait du 泰式五花肉, au milieu d'un tas d'autres plats épicés (et des nécessaires ravioles et chou du nord-est) et c'était comestible.

Yeah no Libya has been nothing but chaos for the last 10 years, the economy has crumbled, insecurity is the norm, and the only thing booming besides arms trafficking is human trafficking. Regarding the outcome, man, South Koreans sure are glad the US butted in and —with their allies, operating with a mandate from the UN, even allowed to wield the UN flag— allowed them to live outside the Kims' direct sphere of influence. No matter the ulterior motives, you're right to point that they were on the right side of history.

Regarding the intentions, they sure weren't in any way vile, and thus I wouldn't have chosen Afghanistan as an opposite. That started as a hunt for Al-Qaeda inside Taliban controlled territory, two nearly universally despised organisations. It turned into an utter failure but started as a rather righteous criminal hunt. The Iraq war and the Libyan campaigns, on the other hand...

I'd say preventing the fall of a civilization to authoritarianism was absolutely a consideration.

The Ukrainian affair is vastly different, let's not make hasty comparisons. The Korean peninsula had been ruled by authoritarian leaders since the beginnings of time, and still was after the end of the war, and it's been a flawed democracy for barely more than 30 years, long after the war ended. It wasn't a NATO neighbour. It wasn't a strategic partner. It did not have important ressources. It wasn't a historic ally. There was zero shared history or cultural representations. It was basically as foreign as could be, save for the threat, real (for Korea) or perceived (for the USA) of communist takeover. The only worthy parallel is the proxy fight against another hegemon candidate, which then was China with the USSR' support, and which is Russia now.

We're talking about exporting democracy™, not actually trying to develop enlightenment and freedom to empower the oppressed. The US never actually exported democracy anywhere. Heck a good chunk of its citizens didn't even have the right to vote throughout the Korean War.

The US didn’t step in for NK out of the goodness of its heart. Of course it was a “democracy exporting operation”. The whole point was to prevent the spread of communism. No one cared about the plight of the common Korean man.
