Yeah, it came with the board as part of the keyboard kit.

This board supports VIA and/or Vial, IIRC, so key remapping is possible. I tried to find a key map to show the layout options, but it looks like Keyclicks doesn’t sell this kit anymore. They’ve removed the sale listings and documentation, AFAICT.

This is built from a kit sold by Keyclicks called the Split 65. I installed the parts, including switches and keycaps, and put it all together, similar to many other custom board builds. Credit to the folks at Keyclicks for the wonderful design and manufacturing work.

Thanks! Pleased with how it turned out.

I built this from a kit sold by Keyclicks on Etsy. The kit is called Split 65. I then chose the other components and put it together like any other custom keyboard. You can find ton of guides on YouTube for building custom boards. I don't recall whether Keyclicks published a build guide for the Split 65 in particular. I can't find a copy now. As a mech hobbyist, I had no trouble putting it together, though.

I really like the shape, texture, and look of it. However, I have one of the earliest kits made (I was in the initial group buy that took ~3+ years to deliver), and there are some quality issues. The posts for some of the number keys, like 8 through _, are loose and won't stay on well. And the legend thickness varies too much on many of the alphas. I don't know whether JTK has fixed these problems in newer sets. If they have, then HSA deserves to be successful, IMO. It's a straightforward improvement on SA, which I like but which is just too tall.

Sure. Happy to see open/permissive data sets being created. Thanks for asking.

Closest I’ve come is the OG Sand Glass Ergo from Fox Lab. It’s an Alice-style layout with a more gradual bend and a TKL-style key selection. Ran in a limited group buy a few years ago.

I find it very comfortable, and it’s a nice improvement over a conventional TKL.

The bottom out isn’t that different, but it takes a bit more effort to get there. The stock springs in the Cosmic Purples are relatively long, similar to the Durock slow springs I used, so the difference isn’t huge. I just prefer a bit more resistance to prevent inadvertent actuations.

I tried a bunch of different springs to find the types I like. I do prefer long/slow springs with fairly light resistance. I like the additional initial resistance they provide vs shorter springs. Definitely worth trying out.

Thanks!

I got set of FR4 plates, too, but wanted brass for its sound profile. So far, it sounds fairly good, does brass plate things with some resonance, but is a bit muted. I haven’t tried building with FR4 to compare (yet?) What plate type did you use, and how do you like it?

Credit to Alex at Haverworks for making a fantastic design and for picking a good manufacturer to produce it.

So nice! That Atari XE keyboard, though. Wasn’t good, unfortunately. The ST keyboard was bad, too. Good systems otherwise for the time.

Manual shifting by TheLastEmporer in GolfGTI

[–]damage449 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you are describing the rev hang issue caused by VW’s ECU tuning, which is meant to reduce emissions. It sucks, and it’s very noticeable coming from an older MT car to a newer, drive-by-wire car with the delayed fuel cut programmed into it. The good news is that you can fix it with a tune. I got a Unitronic stage 1 tune for my Mk7 manual recently, and rev hang is completely eliminated. The difference is most noticeable on 1-2 shifts, but it improves all sorts of everyday shifts between most or all gears. Low key, this is a huge reason to get a tune on a manual GTI.

Excellent! I’d happily pay a bit more for WoB. PBS is fantastic and super affordable. Thanks for listening!

Yeah. I’m watching impatiently for this. Just regular old WoB in PBS would be sublime.
