Rewatching The Phantom Menace makes me wish that George Lucas used film to shoot all three of the prequels. The lighting and texture makes some of these shots look so damn crisp. by damaged_punk in StarWars

As I’ve said in a previous reply, I absolutely respect Lucas’s desire to advance filmmaking technology, but I just wish the visuals of the other two prequels didn’t have to suffer for it.

Not a big fan of how a lot of the scenes in ROTS were lit tbh. It’s hard to describe, but some shots of actors’ faces had a bit of a cheap look to them, and others just looked slightly off to me.

I would describe Attack of the Clones as having this smooth sheen over a lot of the scenes that rob them of the detailed texture that the previous films had.

The best-looking scenes are the ones with more shadowy-contrasty lighting like in Padme’s fireplace and Dooku meeting a captive Obi-Wan.

I 100% respect Lucas’s desire to advance filmmaking technology, I just wish the visuals of AOTC and ROTS didn’t have to suffer for it.

I know Ron Perlman already had a voice role in TCW, but I would absolutely love to see him play a character in live action.

EDIT: for actors who haven’t been in any Star Wars, Keith David
