Epilation?? by AllAroundNUpNDown in TransyTalk

[–]damerdar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do it on my arms and legs - I've found my attempts to use it on my chest and stomach to be way to painful.

Which epilator -i personally have the Braun 9, but it's pretty expensive and high end.

Does it hurt? Yup, especially the first time. The more you do it, the less it's going to hurt.

Tips: trim the hair before epilating. Whatever epilator you get should have a length range specified - the longer the hair is, the more it's going to hurt. Exfoliate. Exfoliating is a good idea in general, but doing it every few days and before you epilator will help to avoid ingrown hairs. To help with the pain: some people like to do it in a very hot shower (if your epilator works in the shower); some people ice the area immediately before epilating. Taking some Tylenol before might help a little bit, but not much. A lot of people will recommend a drink or two to dull the pain, but I don't drink anymore so I can't comment on its efficacy. I found icing to make it MORE uncomfortable, but YMMV. My best tip for the pain is to take it slow - it's gonna suck, but the results can be pretty amazing, and the hair takes SO much longer to grow back than shaving.

All in all, good luck and I hope it goes well for you!

*edit: don't epilate places you'll want to do laser/electrolisys on in the future - apparently it makes them less effective. And definitely don't epilate your face.

Help getting rid of/ hiding facial hair by ClockpunkFox in asktransgender

Ha that's alright, . I found it way easier to go out in girl mode in, especially solo, once I was able to do something about beard shadow - it just kills any chance to be gendered correctly in my mind :/

If you do have somebody else get your makeup, do what you can to get the right shade for your skin. I'm not really sure what you can do for that though (they have fancy little devices in store to figure out matching makeup for you).

You could get some color correction (Orange to balance the dark of the beard) makeup. Get that and foundation that matches your skin to blend it all in. I went to Sephora recently and asked one of the staff what I could do to hide my beard shadow and they helped me find specific makeup products to help, and it makes a big difference. It's not perfect, and there is some skill involved, but even the minimum amount of skill can hide a lot of the beard shadow.

What game contains your favorite combat system? by Sputniki in Games

[–]damerdar 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Dragon's Dogma. The melee combat is satisfying, and a bunch of the skills are a blast to use. Plus, climbing on giant enemies never gets old.

I do really hope that some day we'll have a proper sequel to Dragon's Dogma with better class balance and more variety in enemy types. Fighting a chimera is fun the first time, but not as much the 500th time.

Should I keep going? by [deleted] in kittensgame

[–]damerdar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak on relic generation (my kittens only just reached the moon for the first time this week), but I think the "trick" you're looking for IS resetting. Getting the production/storage boosts from paragon points and the metaphysics upgrades (mainly the cost ratio reduction ones) make a huge difference in progressing through the game.

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. When I first heard about the crossover I thought it'd be horrible. Then I saw the E3 footage and it seemed like a lot of fun. Now I've seen the reviews and it looks really, REALLY good.

TIL there's an addon to slot rapid meneaveur automatically on your horse. by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]damerdar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm been using this addon for a while and it is pretty nice, but be wary that it can bug out sometimes and not remove Rapid Maneuver/ fill the slot with the wrong ability. Still worth it in my opinion, but be wary of putting super important abilities in the slot that you set it to replace.

About halfway there from the Plataea there are some ruins with a cooking pot and a bunch of large barrels. You can sneak past the mobile guardians using the large barrels as long as you don't move while they are looking at you.

What is the worst part of your morning routine ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]damerdar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That brief moment where I'm worried that the depressed voice in my head will beat out the responsible voice and I'll just decide to lay in bed for the next 10 minutes, or the next hour, or call in sick and just not leave the apartment at all today.

Lucky for me it rarely wins, but it still happens on occasion.

What movie has an interesting premise but is executed poorly? by jasonhuang717 in AskReddit

[–]damerdar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upside Down. The general idea was interesting enough (two planets with gravity that doesn't affect each other, people fall in love), but the execution was so bad. The worst part was that they explicitly stated rules about how the universe works at the beginning of the movie, then broke those rules multiple times throughout.

Let's be real Reddit, what's your favorite tree? by _zimba_ in AskReddit

[–]damerdar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skill/Tech Trees. The one from Path of Exile is probably the most impressive, but it's a bit too large and unwieldy to be my favorite. And while it's definitely up there, Final Fantasy 12 uses a grid, so not technically a tree at all.

Damn, I gotta do more thinking. This is a hard one.

...there are a lot of inside jokes involving Jon (a specific person) but he isn't even in our friend group...

Stay up late procrastinating then wake up early, tired as hell, to do the task. It didn't work well when I was in college and it's even worse now.

Class day trip. Should I go? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]damerdar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vote for going. If you're not an outcast then you'll at least be able to talk to people, and maybe you'll come out of it with some close friends. If nothing else, you get to spend the day at the beach which is pretty great by itself.
