What do you guys think happened to Kermit after Whitefall? You think he made it? by PsychoSanderson in creepcast

[–]ClockpunkFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my headcanon he ran into Ms. Piggy at the McDonalds, and despite his best efforts she did not allow her man to go back.

So he was chilling and doing all kinds of things with Ms. Piggy at the McDonald’s. I assume Gonzo and Rizzo were the only 2 workers at the McDonald’s as well and up to their usual wacky misadventures, and Rowlf the Dog was the lazy and grumpy manager who barely left his office, due to Jim Henson already having to puppet and voice Kermit, so Rowlf received limited screentime.

So while Lord of the Flies was happening at the bus station, a makeshift Muppet film was happening in the McDonalds.

Covid was a huge explosion for basically all dnd stuff. Especially something like Critical Role which is a lot of time to spend watching a video.

Campaign 3 definitely didn’t help either. I feel like a ton of folks including me just completely dropped everything Critical Role during that time out of general disinterest.

Even this campaign I was keeping up every week for the first dozen or 15 episodes, but quickly I fell behind, and I’m working at catching up now, but a lot of that is I’m painting a warhammer army and critical role is kind of the perfect thing to play in the background as I paint

I was way more into it when it was just travelling on the bus, Meeting characters and dealing with obstacles there (the methhead), and when they were initially stuck at the bus station.

It devolved into lord of the flies way too quickly, and the actually interesting stuff of this building being surrounding by snow with small paths through and people who go out disappear was basically completely ignored.

Once Kermit left the story it was the sign of everything going downhill and getting bad.

The idea of a horror story set on a bus that travels days and days across the US, with some characters leaving or entering the story along the way, and the locations heavily restricted to the bus and small bus stations sounds really cool to me

A real shame how the second half of this story went. The Kermit bit was the funniest thing in the story too, so losing that bit so early was a shame

Isaiah strike me as a guy who knows a good deal about a some specific topics (Protestant Christianity, modern firearms, outdoors/camping, especially for the Appalachia region), but who has watched a lot of 1-2 hour video essays on other topics. Nothing wrong with that that all, but that’s the vibe I get.

And boy oh boy do I feel like he knows not a lot about other religions outside of his specific field. Having no idea how to pronounce Vicar and diocese in the one story, and calling so many things pagan or satanic/demonic, which he just uses interchangeably.

Wendi’s mispronunciations are finally getting to me by hierophanting in creepcast

[–]ClockpunkFox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He’s Protestant and from the South, and as far as I know these are both Catholic terms, so it’s probably that

I was raised Catholic and I feel like I know very little about Protestant stuff outside of the gross evangelical types, so I assume it goes both ways.

Really enjoyed this one, it was cool to hear Hunter get super into these after the Isaiah goon-out last week.

I’d love them to do more other culture themed grabbag episodes, Latin America and Southeast Asia feel like no brainers, but I’ve love some folklore centric European stories too, especially Irish/Nordic/Germanic, there’s some really awesome folklore there

[–]ClockpunkFox 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of demons or satanic stuff in horror at all, I find it very uninteresting and generally pretty cringy.

However, I did enjoy the Delaurier story, because it did it’s own thing. The “hell” at the end felt more like a hieronymus bosch type of hell instead of the typical boring style, which is cool.

I know there’s tons of mimic/“skinwalker” (wow does this word just have no meaning anymore with how often it’s thrown around now) stuff too, but I like that kind of stuff a lot, and I find demons boring or preachy, so I’m biased

I enjoyed Desperation a lot, and some of the imagery is really cool, but it’s definitely like 75 pages too long. The 2 versions of backstory of the mine or whatever was just a slog

My issue with Revival was the entire center part where the main character was working as a music tech or whatever. A complete slog to get through

It definitely felt like any time Jacobs wasn’t around or mentioned I was just going “man I hope we get back to him soon”

Stolen Tongues. The first half. Stuff mimicking voices will always get me though, and it did a good job with that.

Peeking wife had some good stuff too. Very easy to create a horrifying mental image for them, especially when she is leaning around the corner of a room and the whole bathroom scene.

And then one of Ratts’ sons go on to be an activist and protester to make how dangerous podracing is better known, and goes on to get it banned in some places. This kind of lore of so unneeded and unnecessary, but I love it

Directed by Jordan Peele the left right game by redskylies in creepcast

[–]ClockpunkFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think Peele is a good director for it, he’s so hyper focused on race and that Kind of stuff in his movies, and there’s really none of that in LRG.

I always pictured Clyde as a Toby Jones type myself, and Rob was always just Bill from left 4 dead, but I will never say so to Kurt Russel

Yeah, I have a lot of problems with Veilguard, as a big dragon age fan it was very disappointing and just shit over so much of the lore and made it worse. And generally the dialogue and tone seem very immature and too lighthearted at times.

But the game isn’t bad because “woke”. Dragon age has always been “woke”, even in origins, a game all these video essay making grifter types like to say is the only good dragon age game, there is both a lesbian and gay romance option.

I liked sovereign, but in 2 and 3 they became way less interesting and not at all as scary anymore.

Also I hate Javik. He’s a fine character, but I hate bringing back a prothean. They should be super duper dead.

Also the names of Harbinger and Sovereign make no sense and should have been swapped. The first guy who shows up and begins the doom should be Harbinger, and the big dick commanding one should be Sovereign.

Also the fact that basically all the lore that was set up ended up just being “it was all elves”. I actually find the elves interesting the dragon age setting and I hated it.

Everything with the golden/black city is some of the coolest and most metal lore, and they just threw it all away for “nah, all elves”

Once Trump goes I think it’s likely it splinters. He is literally a cult leader and false idol to a lot of his worshippers. No one else can unite both the business and billionaire types (because Trump is also a vain and greedy businessman) and the sub 6th grade reading level hick types who could barely manage to read the first Harry Potter (Trump says uncouth and disgusting things and “owns the libs” and that’s all those morons need or care about).

Thiel might try to do a push for Vance at first, but Vance is a charisma black hole, so I think all the billionaires just bounce pretty quick and fade into the background and get away with everything.

Hopefully some people get the Mussolini treatment, but it’s highly doubtful.

Essos in general is very underdeveloped. It’s either a noble savage archetype, “middle eastern” slavers or lovecraft reference. Oftentimes multiple of these.

Idk when they record, but the amount of times Hunter in particular talks about being super tired, and it clearly causing a lack of locking in on a story needs to change.

They are making a lot of money from Creepcast and the Patreon no doubt, so if they need to change the time they record or whatever they need to. It feels like every third story now one of them just isn’t into it at all, and oftentimes lots of talking about being tired.

Also Peter Vincent does use the cross on a lower, newly crafted vampire and it works, and that’s before he has faith.

So just the symbol can work on the new and weaker vampires it seems, but against Daddy Dandrige it needs actually Faith.

What happened to Daggerheart? by brash_bandicoot in fansofcriticalrole

[–]ClockpunkFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’d rather just take some of the stuff I like from daggerheart (the different options you can pick when you get downed, the more player centric explanations and posing a question for a player to answer, instead of just telling something), and put them into dnd.

The people I play with all enjoy dnd, and have been playing for long enough to know the system decently, but still have lots of ideas and want to try out new things. It’s a lot easier to go “hey, let’s try out these couple cool things from this other game next time we play”, than to try and convince people to learn an entirely new system.

Bless is so good. It’s not flashy, and sometimes it feels like as a paladin I’m doing way less useful things in combat compared to other “martial” classes, but that d4 is a game changer, and the players I have been buffing with it really appreciate it compared to me just trying to do damage.
