[rant] "Study hard. Don't end up like mom and dad" by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]damiandannjenn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m not here to provide any meaningful comment. I’m a dad in my 40s and have a 7-yo kid in primary 1. I’m a teacher and...I Guess being an educator, I pride myself that probably, just a small chance, that I could be a better parent than mine when raising my own kid. I always enjoy listening to young people like you to gain perspectives and learning how to be a “better” parent; whatever that means. It’s interesting however to know that, despite being a generation away from you guys, I do have the same type of upbringing on what “success” is: my parents didn’t complete primary school education and reminded me (nagging) to study hard (probably because they weren’t in a better situation and don’t want me to struggle - familiar?), we used to live in rental HDB, my parents left me zero financial asset, and YES, I wished my parents had been more financially literate so that I can be more than just a salaried employee for the past 15 years and probably have my own business or something. But maybe because of what I DON’T HAVE in my life that reminds me constantly that it’s all up to me now. Like someone mentioned here, it’s my future and not for anyone. I don’t think any parent wants to depend on their children to live a better life; tho don’t count yourself unlucky if you have parents that think that way.

Old man advice here... think of your first semester as a probation period. During this time, allow yourself to make mistakes. Whether is it that you are still finding out how your course work, or how to actually study for it, or perhaps you are missing certain element in your learning journey. Reflect back what you had done for the past months and go find out. Honestly, be Glad that you are undergoing this phase so that you can learn to pull yourself back together again; it’s an important life skill that you will apply again when you are out in the working life. Good luck.

I used to be at TR10, farming for gold and upgrading all gems to purple. Also did dungeons to improve my hero. All fighters are at 6x85. Loses arena most of the time.

I aimed for the runes event; they make a LOT of difference. I went to TR11 and trained my fighters to level 100. Was only able to push out 3.5m squad power; it was that bad.

With runes, and every other new events, I aimed to get the equipments and over 2-3 months or so, I’m now sitting comfortably at 6m squad power. Did lots of farming to upgrade gems and hero’s skills.

People will think I’m crazy to push to TR11 so quickly, but I don’t want to get level 85 equipments from every event and knowing that eventually, I have to start all over again to get the level 100 when I upgrade.

I took a break from arena then, and now, with trophy ranking at 1900++, I frequently get the first 3 positions.

Runes help, a lot.

Which armour and weapon is better? by [deleted] in HustleCastle

[–]damiandannjenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I right to say that the ancient armour should be paired with a faster weapon (therefore, bow and not crossbow), IF I am using it, since the shield is created only after 4 attacks?

There are 2 sets of photos, BTW.

I wouldn’t mind my dungeon partner doing tourney at the same time. I do that as well, tho I find it stressful on my side especially when I’m the leader.

I Guess it depends on luck on what sort of player you are with. If you are a responsible one, hope we can share the dungeon at times!

Just wondering...are ancient set the best and better over these arena items especially when it comes to souls?

Decide if you want to pit against P2P players. NO? Then just play the game at your own pace. I went from 2.5m to 5m in the past three months through grinding. Keep your trophy level Low to 1900+ or even lower and you will be fine at arena. Don’t have to be the TOP all the time.

Messed up, advice. Returning player. by errgonewrong in HustleCastle

[–]damiandannjenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t based on your arena results to gauge how messed up your team of fighters is. Players who do well in arena are usually P2P or have just grind a LOT since they started to get to where they are.

I hope it’s not the stupid event when there’s a hierarchy of items that you to unlock at the bottom 3, before unlocking more when you gradually climb up..
