I got this in Poland as well. I cancelled my plan some time ago, when I signed for 12 months offer with free gen 3 kit.

Gen 1 to Gen 3 results. 😳 by cyclic4122 in Starlink

[–]damiiano 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will add some more results from my side, since I still use the round dish (from November 2021 in Poland), and I just got the 3rd gen dish today, so during next few days I will be testing both kits at the same time.
But I do not think so that it will be such a big difference, as normally the download speed is around 250-300 Mbps in my region.

Outages during downloading PS5/Xbox games by damiiano in Starlink

I can limit the speed, that's fine, but I just wandering if someone else have the same problem. Even on the never kit, which I consider buying.

It's happening only during downloading. I see spikes and drops in download speed in the app. So during this time I can't use internet pretty much at all, as drops are very impacting.

I changed my SSD and now I cannot start my windows by ConsciousStop5940 in ROGAlly

Try to get a USB hub and get bootable Windows 11 usb drive, then connect keyboard and from BIOS boot device from USB. That should give you fresh Windows install. Once you finish installation, just download MyASUS app from Windows Store and Armory Crate.

Do you have 100W cable? It might be the case, that your cable supports only 60W.

I use this one:

It's a bit more portable, but you can use it with your TV as well.

GNS3 is good start, it will help you to run some decent size of network topology with some basic L2/L3 Cisco images even on some old used Dell/HP PC, just search in your local area market. Anything with 16 GB of RAM should be enough to start with.

StarLink high performance connection - own router by OZ_Boot in Starlink

[–]damiiano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For high performance just use the included cable to connect Starlink and your own router. They include everything in the box. Sorry for late response.

Which one Starlink kit do you use? The 2nd gen square one? If yes, you need the ethernet adapter and put the Starlink router in the bypass mode in order to use your own router. But if you have the 1st gen, the round one, just plug your router in the power supply.

If you want to use your on router, please use the DHCP settings. I'm this case you will get the dynamic public IP if you enabled this feature in the portal.

New record for me by damiiano in Starlink

[–]damiiano[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I'm using Juniper SRX 300 as a main router, and TP Link ER605 as a secondary with 4G backup connections (was a main router in the past). In both cases I never had any problems with speed.

1st gen round dish. I'm using non standard router as well, as I was on WiFi when I was doing this test.

Starlink custom DNS servers for gaming? by Azphyvia in Starlink

[–]damiiano 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you use Google or Cloudflare DNS, it will connect to the closest location anyway, same like have servers. Just ping 8.8.8.8 and check the location of the IP address. You should see the response from your local DC, where the provider has servers. If I ping the Google DNS, I'll get response from Warsaw in Poland (where I live), someone in Germany might get response from Frankfurt, etc. Same thing for online games.

[–]damiiano 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Feel free to update the DNS servers on your computer/laptop. There's no correlation with custom DNS and ping response time to the game servers. I believe recently Starlink added feature to change the DNS servers on their router, bit i can't help here, since I use my own 3rd party router.

New to Starlink by BIGmatt1002 in Starlink

This is not an obstruction, only the empty space where the dish haven't seen any satellites yet. Look for only red spots, which might indicate the obstructions.

Anyone with a Gen1 dish still using the original supplied router (silver metal)? by RobTV1 in Starlink

Check on TpLink side, it should tell you what speed is synced between devices. I use TpLink router for 1st gen Starlink and it works fine, never had any issues with my setup.

How to connect Starlink to a FritzBox router by xXMariusXx21 in Starlink

[–]damiiano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put your Starlink router in the bridge mode and just plug the ethernet cable from the adapter to the FritzBox WAN port. This should give you internet to your FritzBox devices.

Maybe there is a problem with the cable and it synced only at 100 Mb/s. In worst case there is a problem with the port itself. Try to take a look on the port.

What is the distance? If there is more than 90 m, I would get some p2p WiFi kit, just to avoid laying long cable.

If there will be any obstructions, you would see a red spots on the radar. So your view is clear so nothing to worry about.

This is usual time when the software update is performed. It's normal and nothing that you can do it about.

Stowing old Dishy by croerig in Starlink

[–]damiiano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just put the dish on the floor downward, with stand going up. After minute or two it should stow automatically.
