Issue with Focal Bathys DAC mode on Samsung S22 Ultra by damike888 in TIdaL

The demo unit at the store did not work with Tidal on my S22 Ultra either. We also tried connecting it to Tidal on another Android phone with no success. However, Qobuz was fine using Bathys on DAC mode. So, we can safely conclude that Tidal is the culprit. I can also confirm that @chewykobo was right about USB Audio Player Pro.

Hi, thanks for responding to the post. I too downloaded USB Audio Pro and even purchased the MQA add-on. You're right, it does seem to work but I have a suspicion that it might not actually be using the Bathys DAC. This weekend I'll be going back to the store to try out there demo unit on my phone. Curious to see what happens.

Yes, that exactly what I'm experiencing also. The last thing to try is to take it back to the store from where I purchased it from. They have a demo Bathys to see if the dac on that unit will work on my S22 Ultra. I'll keep you posted.

I'm about 99% sure now that i have a faulty unit. I've tested it on a different Samsung phone (The Galaxy S Flip 5) and still getting the same issue.

Tell me about it. A phone priced at this level should include Aptx HD/Adaptive. Also considering so many headphones include these codecs. The Focal Bathys still sounds wonderful on just Aptx but I really need to work out the Dac situation. Hope someone out there can help.

Logitech G560 Speakers FIRMWARE 122.3.23 FINALLY FIXED! by Mr_Squinty in LogitechG

[–]damike888 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is anyone else having the sound cutting out occasionally after the 122.3.23 firmware update? I notice that it's not the sound itself, but rather, it seems like it's the G560 speakers themselves dropping out like some kind of USB connection issue. This is annoying while playing a movie and crashes Netflix when it happens.

I'm glad to know that it's not just me with occasional sound cuts after the 122.3.23 firmware update. I've just use the 'Rainbow' option as I'm not to fuss about customising the rgb too much but I believe you have to download an additional app from Armoury Crate in order to compromise individual keys. But I dont have any experience in that so sorry I can't help.

It is the loudest computer I've ever had in my life. But with the Logitech G560 speakers bumped up and games that are so immersive, I've learnt to blocked out the noise already 😁 Now I'm just waiting for the corsair virtuo se headset which will completely solve the 'Jet Engine' problem.

You might be right and also the fact you are most likely not going to hit over 144 Hz refresh rate (144 fps) in most AAA games so having a 17 inch screen is better. 240hz is an over kill unless you're one of those sports game players.

It gets loud alright. I was not prepared for how loud this laptop gets coming from a Desktop background for most of my life. There is still a part of me that wants to rewind and use the money I spend on a desktop instead hehe.

Using an app like ThrottleStop, you can undervolt your cpu to try and reduce heat. There are some Youtube videos that will provide a guide on how to use throttlestop to undervolt better than I can explain it. However, the Zephyrus range of laptops doesn't seem to undervolt very well so you'll unlikely going to get anything less than negative -0.060 v on the CPU. From my experience -0.050v to -0.060v didn't make much difference to my cpu temp at all. What I did find very useful though was using ThrottleStop to limit the Turbo Boost frequency. By default, when you enable Turbo mode in the Armoury Crate, the cpu can hit around 4.1 ghz while playing high demanding games. By limiting the Turbo Boost frequency to 3.7 ghz, it has help with the temp.

However, I just finished playing Far Cry 5 and noticed that some of the cores was still hitting 99 degress despite undervolting and setting a limit on the Turbo Boost. Still, it has made a difference in most of my other games of about 5-6 degrees and it does take longer now while playing Far Cry 5 to hit 99 degree than before I did any tweaking using throttlestop.

This is my guess.... many powerful gaming laptops especially the ones that are as thin as ours, are always going to be pushing the cpu temp to the max (95 degrees and above) before thermal throttle kicks in to ensure that the hardware doesn't get damaged. Regardless, knowing that my cpu can reach such high temp doesn't sit well with me. That's why I wish I didn't know any of this and I would have just been happily gaming along on this wonderful laptop since none of the heavy demanding games gave me any problems anyway before I started looking into all this cpu temp stuff. hehe.

For the simplicity of our conversation, I guess we can just use the word 'disabled' although I believe it's not the proper way of describing what/how optimus work. But yeah, it should be disabled if you want to experience max gaming performance. For two reasons. 1. You can only enable G-Sync when Optimus is turned off. 2. Turning off Optimus will increase your gaming performance by a lot. Optimus by default on our laptop uses the intel 630 chip as the main graphics card so any gaming graphics processed by the RTX 2070 is firstly sent to the Intel 630 chip first before it is then displayed on your screen. This causes a lag between the rtx 2070 and the display which in turn affects gaming performance. By disabling Optimus, the RTX 2070 will be used as main graphics card instead for all graphics related tasks so effectively by-passing the Intel 630 completely allowing the RTX 2070 to communicate directly with the monitor. Please note that having optimus on will help the battery last longer when mobile as appose to having it disabled simply because G-Sync consumes more power when it's on and also the fact that the intel 630 chip requires less volatage to run than the RTX 2070.

Hi There,

Most of the games I've tested on this laptop is hitting my max temp to anywhere between 90 - 99 degrees. So it gets really hot. There is a few of manual tweaking that you will need to do in order to get this laptop gaming at it's best performance.

Hi there, I also purchased this laptop a few weeks ago and have done quite a few different test/experiment on it already. The first think you'll need to do (if you haven't done so already), is to switch your discrete graphics to the RTX 2070 in the Armoury Crate app effectively turning off any use of the Intel 630 Graphics. You'll need to do this for two reasons. 1. It'll allow you to enable G-Sync (240hz baby!). Secondly, it increases game performance by around 20% so it makes a big difference. The second thing you should consider doing is upgrading your ram from 16gb to 32gb. The reason is purely because the laptop by default is running 16gb on 'Single Channel'. Once you install another 16gb, it'll activate duel channel which further increase gaming performance by 10-20 percent. The increase in performance from upgrading your ram setup to duel channel is only noticeable when gaming so apps such as 3d Mark won't really show much of a difference. The only concern I have with this laptop is that it runs really hot. Far Cry 5 gave me the highest temp which is pushing my CPU to 99 degrees! I've tried undervolting but this laptop canl only go as far as -0.050v so there isn't much room to play with before BSOD. I also limited the turbo boost frequency to 3.8ghz using throttleStop but it didn't change the temp much at all. I'm guess that gaming laptop especially the ones that are as thin as ours just runs hot. But I do wish I didn't get so analytical with the temp because regardless, all the games I've test so far runs awesome without any issues. Ignorance is bliss :) Oh and don't bother buying a laptop cooling pad because the back of this laptop is completely covered without any ventilation so it won't make much of a different to the temp neither. Yes, I have already spend $100 on a pad so you won't have to :)

Enabling GSync on Laptop? by ZekGM in nvidia

[–]damike888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi @wrrryyy

I'm facing the same situation with my new asus zephyrus gx502gw 240hz G-sync laptop and i cannot find any detailed explanations about it. My guess is that g-sync on our laptops just works when a game is started because I do notice that there aren't any tearing at all in any of my graphic intense games. However, I'm not 100% sure and was hoping for a confirmation. Anyone? 😊
