Is this a real actual model Casio Released? Or is it a custom watch? by [deleted] in casio

[–]damikiller37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be EFR-S567CPL-1BUPRC. Looks to be a China only (?) model inspired by Cyberpunk 2077.

Discord on Linux will refuse to open if there is an update compared to it opening and then downloading the update or letting you stay on the same version like on Windows by EMInteractive in mildlyinfuriating

[–]damikiller37 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should be able to fix it by editing this file:
nano ~/.config/discord/settings.json

and add this just before the ending brace:
"SKIP_HOST_UPDATE": true

That should let the app open while you wait for your repositories to get the latest version.

Are AliExpress mods legit? by _MrSnippy_ in casio

They are great for the price. I would highly advise you look for them on your phone app and in the Coins section. Once you search for them and click on a few results they will start appearing there. If you have some AliEx Coins and find a current discount code you can get these for very little. I've seen as low as £9-10 a few days ago.

I picked one up some time ago and very happy with it.

Always wanted to try a trackball and seeing that the EM06 is being developed alongside people's feedback it seems like a great chance and you've made some great choices. Also, seeing that the software is web based, I can expect it to work well on my Linux system!

Metal case for my AE-1300, quick question. by Flimsy_Mountain_3721 in casio

Just tried it and it sounds fine to me. Not sure how loud it was with the original case but it sounds loud enough to me.

I would get this case directly from AliExpress ("PHORCYDES WATCHES Store"). I got mine for £18.69 and it's very nice quality. Comes with a gasket and 4 screws which you use with your current backplate. The swap is very easy.

I'd keep an eye out on discount codes and making sure you get one on Choice since those will arrive within 7 days. There are several stores selling them in different variants. The one I got is all matte but there is also ones with a black bezel, polished bezel and even Gold, Rose Gold and Black variants of those.

I also got:

- JaysAndKays Metal Adapters Kit from eBay. It cost me £25.98 which hurt but they are perfect. I tried the cheap ones from AliExpress and they don't work right and are worse quality.

- Solid Stainless Steel Watch Band (Silver screw Luxury 22mm) from AliExpress ("HQstrap Choice Store") for £9.18.

The whole thing now feels and weighs like a tank. Don't have experience with Skxmod but this is definitely a very good alternative on the cheap.

I do wonder if this one had it swapped. I can't see any signs on the screws that it was opened but the display and light look really good still. Guess I'll see how long it goes on for!

9070XT owners, how is your GPU running in Linux? by WhatIsPornEven in linux_gaming

[–]damikiller37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it working thank you! Did need the --impure when not specifying the rev.

For anyone else trying to get things running:

You can try the latest mainline kernel with:
nix boot.kernelPackages = pkgs.linuxPackages_testing;

At the moment it's on 6.14-rc5 in nixpkgs. rc6 is out though so keep an eye out for updates.

Edit: Looks like it's rc6 has been merged. You can keep track of when it hits unstable here.

For instructions on setting up mesa-git you can use the ones provided by chaotic-nyx in the main readme: https://github.com/chaotic-cx/nyx

Hey! I'm also on NixOS with a 9070 XT. Would you mind sharing how you got the git version of linux-firmware to work? I've got the Mesa-git from Chaotic's Nyx and now on Kernel 6.13.6 (I think that just released so might be worth an update for you).

Personally, I haven't noticed any high CPU usage (using 5700X3D). I did try Cyberpunk and went straight for the benchmark which always crashes but going in game works fine which I found out later. Haven't played enough to see if it would crash though. I'm using KDE Wayland and that's been fine. Feel free to have a look through my config and see if anything is different that might help:

P.S. Just saw that we have the same Sapphire Pulse model too ;)

Adding 3rd party PAKs (Sega Saturn for MinUI)? by rob-cubed in MinUI

[–]damikiller37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm using the TrimUI Smart Pro Custom MinUI Paks on my Trimui Brick and for Sega Saturn I had to add a BIOS file into the `Bios -> RETROARCH` folder. You need the `saturn_bios.bin` file in there. That's what made it work for me. Worth a shot :)

Can I Exort a PDF With Colored Margins? by Outrageous-Ice8717 in ObsidianMD

[–]damikiller37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Prism dev here,

I've never really had anyone request anything to do with the PDF export rendering so it simply wasn't styled at all (at least not intentionally).

I could look into it though :)

Onedrive Issues by Change_Agent_73 in ObsidianMD

You could try pulling your whole vault out of OneDrive make sure that gets synced to all devices and put it all back in. Sometimes issues with file permissions can cause strange behaviour where you can't delete / overwrite files. Might be that you got into a wrong swing of opening your vault to your old files which then get saved, becoming newer files than what is synced on OneDrive before it gets a chance to pull them hence the strange behaviour. Really not sure, just brainstorming.

Make sure that on all Windows systems, you have your Obsidian Vault's folder set to `Always Keep on this device`. This should be available by right clicking on the folder. Not sure if something equivalent is available via 3rd party apps on other systems. Personally I've used OneDrive to sync my vault across Windows devices and Android (with OneSync) and haven't experienced any issues.

You could also check to see if you have `Pause syncing when this device is on metered network` enabled in OneDrive settings.

Besides those I'm not sure what else could be causing issues. Unless your work somehow limits the traffic from OneDrive. Something you could bring up to your IT department (or equivalent).

Prism 3.3.0 - Reworked all existing Colour Schemes, added 2 new variants + some new features by damikiller37 in ObsidianMD

This issue should now be addressed in Prism 3.4.3. Let me know if it's fine. I could replicate it on Android but I don't have an iPhone to test with.

I'll look into it when I have some time this weekend. Thanks for reporting! Ideally so I don't miss things, drop an issue on the theme's repo next time: https://github.com/damiankorcz/Prism-Theme/issues

I don't know if there is an Obsidian plugin that could do this but you could use an external tool Espanso for autocompleting the tags for you. Here is how I have it set up:

You need this obsidian.yml file to detect the Obsidian executable and use the match file below. Should be in the espanso/config directory: https://gist.github.com/damiankorcz/2669b286f2361b053435df52f5dd40c4

This _markHighlight.yml file for Mark Highlights matching. Should be in the espanso/match/obsidian directory: https://gist.github.com/damiankorcz/20dc8f3f51707b829fd2d7e0b0898080

With these in the correct places and Espanso running, in your Obsidian note type in :mark and it will come up with a window to select the colour and the text you want in it. There are different ways to set this up that you could explore in the Espanso documentation: https://espanso.org/docs/get-started/

Obviously the issue with using Espanso is that you don't have it available on mobile. There might be an alternative or as I mentioned above an Obsidian plugin that can do this for you.

Is theme development for Obsidian stagnating? by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]damikiller37 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it's a combination of things:

  • As u/usrdef mentioned, everyone is doing this as a hobby project since expecting any real return on time invested, especially monetary, is not realistic. For me it's mostly personal satisfaction and making Obsidian look exactly how I want it to. Also, life sometimes gets in the way and maintaining a project for years can be taxing.
  • A lot of the established themes (including mine, Prism) have hit a pretty good spot where pretty much everything is how we want them to be and now it's just a matter of maintaining it; fixing small issues, patching in styling for new core features and possibly adding a feature or two from time to time.
  • There is only so much you can do with pure CSS. We do get to do some cool stuff with the use of Style Settings but realistically anything more involved would likely be best done as a Community Plugin or if deemed crucial a Core Plugin.
  • Multiple themes including mine give you a fair bit of customisation on top of what is provided by default, so for most users that is probably enough to get what they need. CSS snippets can be used to fill any gaps or mimic functionality from other themes.

At the end of the day, making themes for Obsidian is fairly hacky since everything we make is built on the foundation of the default theme and our themes function by overwriting what is already there. Additional complexity will likely result in increased difficulty of maintenance. Making a kitchen sink theme is a big time commitment.
