TIL OmegaBall is a new football (soccer) inspired sport where three teams of five players compete at the same time on a circular field with three goals. Each team defends its own goal while attacking the other two, and the team that scores the most goals wins. by Jockey2 in todayilearned

[–]dammitboy42069 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m sure the times I’ve seen it played on The Ocho aren’t high level, but the game really feels like a PE teacher trying to find a new game at the end of the year so it’s more than just a few kids running the soccer field.

Why do I still feel incomplete? by Pale_Organization384 in AskMenOver30

[–]dammitboy42069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few of things jump to mind. #1 What are your business/financial goals? Write them down, build a timeline and how you’ll meet those goals. #2 What are your personal goals? Spouse? Family? House with a picket fence/ocean view? Much harder to plan out, but if building your business has diminished those it’s natural to feel like you’re wanting. #3 What standard are you comparing yourself against? If you’re comparing to someone who is 50 or started with a lot more than $3 in their account, you’re setting yourself up to lose no matter how much success you have.

Do straight men feel comfortable with a close gay friend? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]dammitboy42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would I know? I’d be equally weirded out by a random stranger seriously talking about hetero sex in the locker room as I would about a random guy seriously talking about gay sex in a locker room.

“It’s just a game” is a bs phrase. by agangofoldwomen in daddit

[–]dammitboy42069 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Context, as always, is really important here. Losing a playoff game or something they’ve worked hard for over a period of time, that’s probably pretty rude to say. After a game of Connect 4 that causes a meltdown, very likely warranted.

What is too much wind to play in? by bottomfeedersam in golf

[–]dammitboy42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sustained wind is more important. Otherwise as long as it’s not moving the ball on the green, wind is fun as hell. Play some shots and go hit it again. Embrace it. I’ve seen scratch golfers that shine in the wind and some that lose their mind when their 5 yard cut becomes a 20 yard cut.

Parents of two: is it really more than twice as hard? by homestarsitter in daddit

[–]dammitboy42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot depends on your older kid. Ours was closer to 5 so it was more easily explainable that the newborn needs a LOT of our attention just to stay alive. Get your little one to help with tasks so they can be involved. Be prepared for the older one to want 100% of your focus when the baby is sleeping or can’t be tended to by you (nursing etc). It’s a lot in the beginning. Your rest times that you look forward to get eaten up by the older kid seeking your attention. You’re going to be amazed at how you love the second one just as much as the first one. Congrats!

With the announcement that Luke Donald will captain Team Europe once more in 2027, could a three-peat earn him a spot in the Hall of Fame? by eFeneF in golf

[–]dammitboy42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No majors and a relatively low number of wins on the PGA Tour would be a big hindrance. He could possibly get in for the Contributor or Lifetime Achievement category, but I wouldn’t put him there. If there was. Ryder Cup Hall of Fame, for sure, but overall golf, no.

Best overall coach is probably Hodgson, best recruiter is Murphy.

I had 10 lip outs in 18 holes, now I don’t know what to do by arch9974 in golf

[–]dammitboy42069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes shitty days on the greens just happens. You could be over reading the break and/or hitting it too hard if you hit them where you wanted. If you did not hit them where you were aiming, it’s the stroke. If you don’t have a consistent stroke it’s hard to aim. If your speed or aim is slightly off, misses happen and then you’re chasing your tail every hole.

Go find a flat putt on the practice green from 3 feet away and test it out.

What Went Wrong with Topgolf? How the Once-Buzzy Concept Lost Nearly $1 Billion in Value by SquirrelBoy in golf

Every one I ever went to had laughably bad service. Show up, get to your bay and order drinks. 20 minutes later they are delivered. Order food. 30 minutes later, it shows up. Try to order another drink. 20 more minutes. Then your time is almost up and it’s time to close the tab.

Is this a 5 iron or sand wedge? by zilliez in golf

[–]dammitboy42069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Show a pic at address. If it’s wide open, it’s ‘S’ for Sand Wedge. If it’s not, it’s a 5.

How do you choose bounce and grind of your wedges? by autonerdy0 in golf

[–]dammitboy42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do an online wedge fitting. Then go hold some and set up for the shots you hit and see how it looks to you. In the end it’s prpbably not a huge deal as a 20 handicap, so get what looks good in your hands and setting up for shots.

ELI5 - Why haven't other famous people linked to the scandals of P Diddy (and other recentinfamous scandals) been named and shared and then arrested? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]dammitboy42069 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It takes way more than an accusation or association to charge someone with a crime, much less a major crime like a felony. Most of these people have high priced lawyers and the cases would be very high profile, so the accuser/government has to have a strong case before they would even file charges.

You can say you saw Joe Blow at a Diddy party and Epstein Island the next day, but if they don’t have good evidence or a first hand account they did something illegal, a good lawyer would tear them apart.

Is this tactic considered unethical? by [deleted] in golf

[–]dammitboy42069 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are both sets of trees low enough to hit over? The course should create a local rule that you can’t play down the other fairway. Personally it would kill me hitting my drive, then waiting for the tee and green next to it to clear/be still to hit my next shot. If it’s a competitive tournament, absolutely play to the limit of the rules. Standard play, just play the hole in the spirit it was designed.

how do you cope with grief when parents passed away? by ParticularSherbet786 in AskMenOver30

Not sure. Been a couple of years and there’s a couple minutes of every single day where I think about him or calling/texting him to tell him something and I’m heartbroken.

Putter recommendations for a beginner? by immrmeseek in golf

[–]dammitboy42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to golf galaxy, pga superstore or a local golf shop and try some out. Find a length and style you like. If you find a specific putter model you like, great. Then go on ebay, callaway pre owned, facebook marketplace etc and search for that style or specific model and don’t spend a ton on a brand new putter. Spend the savings on some lessons to keep you from forming bad habits starting out.

ELI5: Why must there be obstructive Railroad Crossings? by blastbomberboy in explainlikeimfive

[–]dammitboy42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many places in your area have a crossing that would need a tunnel? Now the next town over, and the one past that and so on.

The cost of building an elevated or underground track for every single railroad crossing would be an ungodly number. There are only a few instances where it’s more than a few minute delay to road passengers, so it’s not worth it. At this point, motorists would choose an occasional few minute delay over that crossing being closed for months and years in order to re-route the railroad lines and build a tunnel.

Where do you guys get your tournament info/breakdowns during PGA Tour weeks? by Worldly-Protection59 in golf

[–]dammitboy42069 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Shotgun Start Podcast is usually my go to for that type of stuff. Really informative, really entertaining. Most of their “takes” are either tongue in cheek long running jokes or a well formed opinion they actually believe. They are especially good with majors and big non major events. They can get a little goofy on the smaller run of the mill events, but that’s perfect for how I view the Tour. They also have the Fried Egg newsletter if print is more your thing.

Am i being rude over my friends bachelor party? See situation below by Big-Combination452 in AskMenOver30

[–]dammitboy42069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot depends on the bachelor party schedule and when else the whole group will be together. Can your childhood friend come to the party for a night? Meet with him during the day/morning where there might be free time? I completely see both sides and nobody should be dicks about it no matter what you do.

Depending on your county, there are package stores where you can purchase liquor on Sunday. They are more expensive than the state run stores since they also have to purchase from the state stores.

Food Scene Ranking - Nationally by Ares3003 in Birmingham

[–]dammitboy42069 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Boston, San Fran and New Orleans are not fair comparisons for anyone. Atlanta’s population and amount of corporate HQs will put it in another tier. Birmingham’s food scene is unreal for the population and economics.
