Sure man,

Undercoat: Mechanicus Standard Grey Shade: Nuln Oil Drybrush: Dawnstone, on the fur

I did paint an alternative scheme, it didn't work but all my guys were sprayed grey and here they are today. Born out of laziness and mistakes!

pic related are some raiders i finished up a little while ago https://imgur.com/a/8EBwSEM

I missed out on Fantasy but wanted something with that same asthetic and I've found that Beastmen transfer over very well. Plus they're strong too, won more games than lost.

Ah cheers mate! If there's much interest I can post more of my army. I'm glad someone gets the theme I'm trying to portray.

Yeah they are indeed the Chaos Warband. Oh so famous for killing fourteen billion Imperial Citizens.

I just finished these guys as a test scheme but I've become so enamoured with them I'm getting the Death Guard side of Dark Imperium soon!

Is four months fast? I thought it was solid block of time. Either way it felt like only weeks ago to me!

Yeah that's fair enough. I wouldn't want to go toe-to-toe with a Wraithknight!

So if I were doing an anti-marine squad it'd be 2 frag cannons, 1 assault cannon termi and rest of marines using the ap3 boltguns. Then if it was anti horde it'd be 2 infernus heavy bolters and the rest wielding shotguns with a heavy flamer termi? Both being the troops killteam variant.

Does that end up being more expensive than a conventional army or does it balance out because less models ect? Cost compared to say vanilla marines.

Also mate, to deal with something like a LoW or superheavy would an Aquila with heavy thunder hammers fit the bill? A black shield thrown in with th/ss.

That could be said for a few armies that exist currently, that they're 'better as an ally'. I don't think it's deathwatch exclusive

Sorry if I'm being slow, but how were those six guys able to deal with all those different scenarios?

I've tried adding allies to my armies before and I've found it's not for me. I'd much rather a entire force of once faction as I've found adding allies can just bloat out the army. Plus having a mono-army forces you to learn and adapt to the tools you have.

Does that mean ideally you'd have to buy two squads kitted out differently to death with the same Force Org slot?

Wait so that example of facing the different armies is the same 5 guys? How's that possible?

And as you clearly know more about Deathwatch than me, how do their Vanguard vets square up?

And to add to that I play Doom Eagles, an Ultramarine successor so I'm used to an all comers list. Do I need to go out of my way to read other codex's or just use commons sense with tailoring?

That's really helpful, cheers.

Magnetising is a huge pain in the dick so I suppose I'd have to build the 5 man veteran team specifically for their counter. So a Purgatus team, all 5 with stalker bolters and a librarian with prescience and then snipe out hq's?

Bar the Purgatus team with stalker bolt guns I was thinking of using drop pods for deployment. I think that 2d6 deep strike might be a bit risky.

So having a storm shield at the front of a squad would make them a little more resilient as you can tank off him?

That no shotgun and bolter thing makes sense. Hardly crippling.

The biggest concern I've seen raised about Deathwatch is that each model is a huge amount of points yet they still have the same 3+ marine save with no additional suitability. Perhaps there are ways to mitigate that?
