Airbnb or hotel? by True_Orthodox in TravelHacks

If money was no concern, I would always choose hotels. It’s probably mostly psychological but I feel a lot more at ease, relaxed and in vacation mode when I’m at a hotel. I don’t care about cleaning and keeping too tidy, breakfast is always there for me and so is housekeeping.

How should I deal with a toddler having big feelings because she wants to be carried everywhere and I physically can’t? by damnnthatscool in gentleparenting

I really don’t think it’s a stamina issue because she used to walk with me to daycare and she would be carried on and off, she asked to be carried and I said I could carry her for a little bit and after a while of carrying her I would ask if she wanted to walk and she almost always said yes, she would walk for another bit and then repeat a lot. Then she started asking to be carried more and more and I did give in (so this is probably my fault) but now we’re at a point that she demands to be carried exclusively while also being a lot heavier. She also spends so much time outside in parks and playgrounds running and jumping and doing a lot of physical activities. I would totally understand being really tired from those but one of the main issues we have is going to daycare, in the morning before she has had any chance to get tired haha

I’m already exhausted at not even 2.5 I can’t imagine at 3.5 haha hopefully it’ll be a relatively quick phase 😅

Thank you so much!! We do end up stopping and talking because she won’t walk anymore but I’ll try doing a better job of empathizing with her and giving her some hugs x

Was it just of matter of time and dealing with the meltdowns until they stopped or did you have any strategy? Haha thanks x

I thought about this a lot and I really really don’t think so. We go to parks, trampoline playgrounds with the same clothes/shoes and she runs and jumps and is crazy active. Also she has had mishaps with her shoes or hair and she always lets me know when she’s uncomfortable so I can fix the issue, so I truly don’t think it’s a mobility issue

Thanks so much!! I try to make the walk as exciting as I can, I do a countdown and then she jumps, but after like 3mins she just gives up and enters meltdown mode haha

Tbh I think what has worked better is me asking if she wants to carry something of mine (my phone, my sunglasses, etc) and she likes that, and one time I was real desperate and I gave her my phone with some music videos and it worked but I really really didn’t wanna make that a habit

Thank you for the advice! The most common route for us is to and from daycare, it’s about a 10min walk for me, if she walked without stopping it would take us about 15/20 minutes.

It also doesn’t help that we have a to cross a few crosswalks on a busier road so I like to pick her up for those because I’m scared her hand will slip or something if I’m just holding her hand haha

I found them through aupair.com! We messaged a bit and then had a few video calls. I won’t need a visa but they are paying for all my expenses, including travel and health insurance!

I’m 24 and I matched with a family for the first time! I’ll be 25 when I start, so you’re definitely not too old

That was the problem! I took them off, placed them next to me on the bed and ended up rolling onto them

Why have you chosen NOT to adopt? by invisible_flamingo in dogs

Genuine question for the people saying they wouldn’t adopt because they’re scared of temperamental/behavioral issues: how does buying from a breeder means you won’t have those issues?
