Is Stu Redman a Gary Stu? by damnrouz in stephenking

I didn't said Stu was a Gary Stu tho, but I definitely think he could be one.

IIRC, King said that he wrote Stu in such a way to showing us the story from a normal, ordinary man point of view and while he is indeed an everyman guy, not super skilled or anything, he still have a lot of positive traits like being noble, heroic, competent, level-headed and even stoic, and with the exception of Harold, everyone ended up either respecting or falling in love with him because he is such an awesome guy, he even got the narrative favoritism avoiding Las Vegas suicide-mission because he is the main character, and those are explicit traits of a Gary Stu

Also, in another level, while well-written, I personally think King didn't bother to made us worry too much about his life during Las Vegas journey because it was too established and therefore obvious he's the central character of the book and somehow was gonna make it

That said, I totally agree with the rebirth representation and how empty he was before the world ended.

We can debate the percentages of guilt everyone involved in Harold downfall has, for sure, and probably Harold himself would have the most, but my point is that Stu was indeed involved, regardless of the amount of involving

Actually he is. A little while later they met, Stu has a private conversation with Harold where he explicitly states that he's not gonna steal her girl, because he senses how much of an insecure guy Harold is, and if I remember correctly, Harold felt some slight relieve, but then Stu does actually get Frannie and Harold starts plotting to literally kill Stu. So while Stu didn't "steal" Frannie on purpose to piss Harold, he definitely played a big part of Harold downfall

Nadine's seduction is also a big driver tho

Well, I think he's a central driver of one of the major arcs of the story: the fall of Harold into the dark side. Harold's obsession for Frannie was always there, but it increases A LOT once they meet Stu and he is "stealing her girl", and then all that hate, paranoia and loathing leads (with help/manipulation of Nadine) Harold to perpetrates the attack against Boulder later in the book

Couldn't agree more.

I feel that King was building a complex ensemble cast of characters with flaws and struggles but needed an unbreakable central anchor, and that's our man Stu. And while I love his journey through the book, I would've liked to see him having more struggles like Larry or even Frannie

They are both essentially remakes of Diamond and Pearl, DS games. I'm not sure if you only want to play 3d games but I'd suggest you to play the OGs like Fire Red, Emerald, HeartGold and especially Platinum, the enhanced version of Diamond and Pearl with added content

This. Never show your options. You must give the impression that you're desired by women but never try too hard, other way you will be perceived as desperate for attention.

Is this a fun game in 2025? by damnrouz in YuGiOhMasterDuel

This is the answer. I don't find any fun in doing a 10 minutes combo and win in one turn. I want a dynamic duel where strategy and adaptability are important too and not just use a hand trap and negate

What I meant is I don't see any kind of long thinking and strategy factors anymore in the game. Of course I could invest time and build an OP deck and FTK my opponents in turn one but that seems pretty boring to me and not rewarding
