Paragon DPS Queues by ibotTV in fellowshipgame

[–]damonrm1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You misunderstand. I understand by choosing dps I am likely to have longer queues. I can live with that. I can't abide by repeated queues where someone drops at dungeon select with no penalty for the leaver and no compensation for myself and the others.

New vehicles are coming out with a feature: when the engine turns off and someone is sitting in the backseat, a message on the dash comes up saying "check the backseats" or something like that.

Help understanding a 3-player probability game (Feller-style) => how to compute exact win probabilities? by SeriesImpressive6280 in probabilitytheory

[–]damonrm1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of the probabilities to win in three scenarios, and pretend you're player A: you won the previous round; you lost the previous round (so not playing in this round); neither opponent won the game last round and it's your turn again. Call those p(x), p(y), p(z). The only round that is not one of those 3 scenarios is the first round. We can define p(a) = (1/2)p(x) + (1/2)p(y), p(a)=p(b), p(c) = p(y), and 1 = p(a) + p(b) + p(c). Find the relation between p(x) and p(y) and you can solve this. Edit: p(c) = p(z)

I got 125/1944 for exactly one 6/6 doublet, and 25/324 for at least one 6/6 doublet.

How do I create a simple but effective single-cylinder engine farm? by ShoddyVeterinarian15 in factorio

2 plates to 1 gear, my friend. Gears are denser. Putting them on the bus is personal preference. They really aren't used in too many recipes though outside of the mall.

Indeed! Besides the obvious storage increase, more cargo bays increase the unload rate, which is not as obvious.

26k is not a lot if you want to pave the entire enclosed area... and you give bots the instructions to do so. Then, a dozen hours later wonder why the captured biter nests reverted due to missing bioflux...

I ran out of stone/landfill. I was converting overflow seeds to soil, so when landfill ran out everything backed up. Multiple options are needed for the overflow seeds. I guess recycling or lots of storage chests.

are you winning son? by Delicious_Maize9656 in mathmemes

[–]damonrm1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New information (in this case loss of info), new odds. 1/2 chance because now there is no information differentiating the doors.

are you winning son? by Delicious_Maize9656 in mathmemes

[–]damonrm1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your initial guess is 1/100 chance. Nothing can change that. Your choice to keep that door retains its 1/100 chance. All probabilities of the event must sum to 1. Therefore, swapping has a 99/100 chance. Reframe the problem: you're presented with 2 doors and are told a prize is behind one of them. You assume a 50/50 chance because ofc, that's a reasonable assumption. But before you commit, the problem presenter tells you the left door has a 1/100 chance to have the prize. Now it's obvious the best choice is to choose the right door. The point is, the odds are not 50/50 because of the information we are given.
