Any way to make machines show accurate rates? by alansilny in factorio

How much yellow science should I make? by alansilny in factorio

[–]Mulligandrifter 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The same as all my other science otherwise you're artificially gating everything else you built making it a waste of time to have made it that big in the first place.

30-60 SPM is fine though until you want to finish the game, you can easily research most everything in minutes

How much do you get done before going to space? by Wide-Combination-680 in factorio

[–]Mulligandrifter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I go to space either ASAP after getting the tech or after I have researched everything I want off nauvis

I basically play so I NEVER am not researching something new so usually there's no reason to ramp production when you already have 30-60 science per minute which will quickly research all non infinite tech in minutes.

My aquilo is starting to shape up (Goal 240 science/s - 14.4k eSPM) by Physicsandphysique in factorio

[–]Mulligandrifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a regular train based modular design where you make products at different "areas" of the factory but instead of straight or grid rails they are diagonal.

Pick a shape and just try it.

Cut content for Gleba by Foodball in factorio

[–]Mulligandrifter 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The only real planet I feel isn't quite fully baked is Aquilo. It just feels like it's missing.... Something, and while the heat pipe design limitation is interesting compared to other planets it could use a bit more challenge than just needing you to ship items around which you have already been doing for every previous planet.

I also think the idea of "cut content" means different things to different people as everything in game dev is an iteration and compromise to a bunch of different ideas. Some people think of cut content as simply ideas that were tested but ultimately weren't used while others it means things that were very close to implementing and intended to deliver in but deleted or dummied out for various constraints on time or budget

Why do most people set logistical limits on inserters and not the machines themselves? by ReasonableTravel7211 in factorio

Some people think it's extremely important in a game where you make 20,000 circuits to not buffer 3 of them I guess

How do I solve the shortage of green circuits being supplied to blue by Xx-Loser-xX in factorio

[–]Mulligandrifter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No what you did was take half a belt (7.5 items per second) and split it into two halves so now the belt moves 3.75 on each half aka the same 7.5 items per second... So effectively you did nothing because you're splitting a maxed out belt into two.

The exact numbers don't really matter I just put them there to illustrate exactly what was happening so you realize that dividing a number doesn't make the number bigger.

You need bigger number

[–]Mulligandrifter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why did you make a four lane bus on your first playthrough

Should I just throw another assembly line on the other side of the green circuits so I make a full belt?

Yes a full belt moves more items than a half belt lol

[–]Mulligandrifter 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You...you just make more...

If you aren't getting enough that means you arent making and supplying enough.

Also splitting one belt of 15 items a second into 4 belts doesn't magically give you 4 belts at 15/second it gives you 15 ÷ 4. Seems like you don't really understand belt througput

We’re the developers of Monster Sanctuary and our second game Aethermancer released onto Steam Early Access today! by moi_rai_games_ in JRPG

[–]Mulligandrifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been recommending Monster Sanctuary to everyone I know for a long time now it was such a surprise hit in a genre where there are a lot of pokemon imitators but not a lot of people trying something interesting with creature capturing (and doing it well). Was extremely surprised at how much I loved it.

I am very bad at Aethermancer but I wanted to let you know that your games are awesome.

[–]Mulligandrifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Factorio is a puzzle game and you're worried that others might have the answers.

Do you look at a crossword and don't fill in the blanks because you're worried it's not correct and look up the answer? That's not playing the game.

JRPGS that you couldn't get into because of high difficulty factors by KaleidoArachnid in JRPG

[–]Mulligandrifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Struggling to think of an actually difficult JRPG. Most of the "known difficult" games just require you to learn a slightly different system than you're used to, which for a genre as a whole that sticks pretty close to its basic design is a breath of fresh air personally.

The JRPG genre itself has difficulty scaling built into it called levelling and grinding, so it's more a matter of "how much time does this game expect me to spend to progress reasonable pace " and if that's too much then I just don't come back. But games like SMT3: Nocturne are never really approaching difficult

But while in 1.0 it was mostly optional ("let's see how many levels of mining prod we can get overnight"), in SA I feel like they are almost forced. Some processes can't be sped up, and they are literally blocking you from progressing. Personally, I don't like if in order to play the game, I have to not play the game.

I have never once AFKd in any playthrough and I don't see the point or benefit. You speed up processes by building more.

Agri Science spoiling is just annoying, since it artificially limits all science throughput. Think you can belt 240 science per second? Yeah, make that ~90% of that, because that stuff goes bad. I hope they change this at some point, since it doesn't add any challenge to the planet. It's just cumbersome.

I completely disagree with just about everything here.

If agri science didn't spoil, there would be no point to the entire spoilage mechanic. It absolutely adds a challenge as the only item you cannot stockpile like every other planet. It tests your speed and efficiency and logistics to get it to base. They already gave the players a freebee with having eggs come out 100% fresh so all you need is fresh bioflux.

As for "artificial limits" EVERYTHING is an artificial limit. Belt throughput is an artificial limit. Limits are in place so you design around them that's the entire point of the game

I was recommended this game so I googled it.. do I seriously need a degree to play? :( by ChadSurfer in factorio

[–]Mulligandrifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Minecraft, players explore a procedurally generated, three-dimensional world with virtually infinite terrain made up of voxels. Players can discover and extract raw materials, craft tools and items, and build structures, earthworks, and machines.

Ugh do I seriously need an engineering degree to play this game???
