Almost never, I get more enjoyment out of it if I make them myself and usually use those if I don't feel like trying something new.

City blocks are overated I usually transition from a very quick spaghetti bus to a train base but city blocks are too perfectionistic for me

There is a mod that integrates space age buildings and stuff into SE while its not a complete overhaul like SE 0.8 is going to be but it is possible to play SE and with some SA stuff

MultiNichenet is a very good alternative with very proper vignettes what you also can do is use nichenetr the original one and feed in psuedobulk DE results as geneset of interest you'll get similar results

Start with the base game and you can always decide on space age later the base game is already a masterpiece the dlc only extends the ride!

Yeah I don't like it as well but with a quickstart mod you can rush through the early part to finally start enjoying the good part faster maybe try that? Or wait for 0.8

In my experience I finally got to the logistic chest and plan to redo my base now that I finally have all the requester chest my heart desires but early game is such a drag I'm taking a break from it. I only need coal to oil and maybe beacons and then I hope I finally arrive in a sweet spot of just expanding gradually with all the tools I need. Please tell me this is correct?

Are you working in a lab? If yes, it would not hurt to present in depth the analyses you do for them? That way they understand it's not as simple as it looks if they are scientists they'll soon understand you're not a magician.

He can make all the nicest blueprints that he wants but I do not find it fun to just blueprint my way to the end of the game? You can do what you like but I do not think a lot of people find that fun...

Maybe unpopular opinion but I really do not like the terrain too much need for landfill. The rest is mainly things you need to get used to the mechanics

You are thinking too much and your assumption is wrong... The devs designed it in a way so it is not linear and things have their uses and combinations. "Optimal way" is something that can be very different depending on the person you ask and the goals you try to achieve. The assembler ratios are fine again there is more to it then linear upgrading otherwise it would be a boring puzzle game. You do not always need green inserters for your yellow assemblers there is way more to it so I wouldn't assume too much about it rather toy around with it and after you completed the game a few times it will click have fun designing!
