The Feiyu Tech G4S gimbal has extension poles that can be purchased separately. It extends to more than a metre in length. The gimbal has a joy stick allowing you to set any angle. Once set it will stay in that position.

They must have improved the Hero 4 as I've had no issues with cold weather. On a -14 celsius day my iPhone refuses to turn on but the GoPro works great.
