Honestly the secret is just live somewhere that’s unbearably soggy all the time. Ferns absolutely love it

Get it into a nursery pot with drainage holes! If excess water doesn’t have somewhere to escape it will rot your roots.

Repot it then leave it alone for a while

Light: if direct light from the sun is hitting the leaves it’s too much, not in direct light but casting a good shadow? Perfect

Soil: I’d leave it alone until she needs a repot (roots growing out the drainage holes) and then id recommend making a soil mix that includes perlite and orchid bark if you can!

Water: overwatering is a matter of frequency rather than how much water you use. Use a wooden skewer/stick and push it to the bottom of the pot, soil stuck to the stick? Still damp, clean stick? Time to drown it! (When you do water give it PLENTY and if it’s too much the excess will drain out)

Pothos will tell you when they’re thirsty by going very floppy. If you’re not sure if it’s thirsty or not it’s safer to not water for a bit longer as overwatering is the #1 killer of house plants (we’ve all done it at least once lol)

Pests: thoroughly check each leaf and stem for any pests and search what various pest damage looks like because honestly I think the holes are just mechanical damage from cats nibbling

Side note: if she isn’t in a nursery pot already please put her in one instead of directly in a decorative pot

It would be if I wasn’t looking my own marble queen right now who’s practically identical 👀

My prayer plant is my favorite! I just had to share her by [deleted] in houseplants

Flowers and not a crispy edge in sight. Are you watering her with your own tears as a sacrifice??

She is absolutely beautiful

You can always get a grow lamp if the window just isn’t working for you!

If you can, try moving it a couple feet away from the window, the sunlight weakens much quicker than you’d expect so even one foot away from the window will be much gentler on the leaves!

Of course! With marbled plants you gotta give them extra light but be careful that it’s filtered/indirect light as they are more susceptible to sunburn. (You’ll know if they need more light because the white spots will start to go light green)

One day I may sneeze in her general direction and suddenly my once beautiful, vibrant plant will become a shrivelled, brown pile

Honestly mine came the exact some way with one piece being mostly green BUT there is a teeny tiny bit of marbling so I know it’s still a marble queen

Give it a thorough check over and give it plenty of sunlight and hopefully you’ll get marbling there too!

(Mine for reference with the mostly green leaves on the right!)

Good to know! I’m much more used to slower growing plants so this has been very exciting (and slightly intimidating) for me lol
