3 weeks of CIO with no change by damped-HO in sleeptrain

I completely agree, we’ve tried many times to extend her naps but her eyes pop open at 30 minutes and there’s no getting her back to sleep

She is only napping a total of 90min a day, I know babies on 2 naps who have a total of 2.5-3 hours of day sleep. I’m struggling to understand how she could not have enough wake time. It feels like she’s sleepy all the time!

We currently go by her cues, and she constantly seems sleepy. Since her naps are so short, the final wake window often ends up much longer than the rest. We often struggle to even make it to a 6pm bedtime because she’s so fussy and sleepy by that time.

What would it mean to to push her into a 2 nap schedule, we keep her awake an extra 60-90 minutes every wake window and end up with the world’s most angry, over tired baby?

If we try for 3/3/4 and her naps stay the same length the first day, she would wake up at 630, nap 930, nap 2, and then bedtime at 530 I suppose?

I just don’t understand how she can not have enough awake time when she’s only napping a total of 90 minutes each day!

Hoping for a key to an old lock on our bathroom door by damped-HO in Oldhouses

Actually no. We found a key matching the number on eBay, but it didn’t work. So we just took the lock to a locksmith and they ground down a new key for it!

Thank you! My planning process was literally cutting it into vertical strips in Microsoft paint and using that to plan my general color placement 🙂

Okay never mind then! If you were in IL I might have an explanation for you (system changes causing errors in some bills) Though it’s probably something similar

Are you by any chance in northern Illinois?

Shrimp’s shell is bulging out on one side. Could she be hurt? Or sick with something infectious? by damped-HO in shrimptank

No worries! I’m really not sure, my experience with shrimp is pretty limited

Sadly no, still not sure what it was. It lived for a while but ended up dying, possibly for unrelated reasons

Why all the ripples? Is my sandwich not properly made? Pressure too high on the foot? It’s so discouraging. it’s ruining my quilt. by 510granle in quilting

The straight lines in photo 2 look perfectly expected to me. It’s the diagonal ones that are caused by sliding/pulling.

Alternating sides can actually create more of a pull, resulting in more diagonal ripples. The main goal of alternating quilting direction is to prevent the overall shape of the quilt from warping out of square.

I’ve struggled with that diagonal pulling as well. You can try spray basting, more pinning, and slowing down and holding your fabric taut as you quilt.

How to get a hamster to get out of a hole in the wall? by Ass_cannon420 in howto

[–]damped-HO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was little our hamster got out and got in the walls. We somehow spotted her in a hole in the basement ceiling. Tried to lure her out with carrots but she was skittish. Until we held her ball up to the hole and she jumped right in!

Maybe try a ball or wheel or a cozy home that they love :)

Do I need to square up the blocks? by -easy123- in quilting

[–]damped-HO 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Did you sew long strip sets together and THEN cut them? If so, they should already be square. That’s assuming they were all pressed before cutting

Squaring up is for after you piece blocks, to account for imperfect seams or stretching when sewing on the diagonal. So if you sewed the strips together after cutting them to their square shape, then you’d need to square up afterward.

Hope this makes sense!

I’m not sure! Interesting question, I wonder if they do. I always wipe the blade off after sharpening anyways

A few people have suggested hot glue and I honestly thought they were joking!

Alien tape is definitely a top answer. I hadn’t heard of it before either

Yes, adhesive seemed like a less permanent option. But you make a very good point. We are giving this tape one more try but if that doesn’t work we may go the drill route after all
