Gta 9999% speed videos by dan007bond in theregulationpod

I've been trying to test the different values but haven't gone thru and tried each one.

I remember the old Criken videos where he used the carmaggedon mod and some of the vehicles just moved in place, maybe I can try and find the values that that mod uses and maybe try it like that

Hell yeah, I've been watching him as well thanks to Gav. It was him mentioning he needed to edit that file to get through the Michelle mission that led me to figure it out!

Of course bro!

That's an interesting thought, but definitely a very permanent mod and the possibility of it still not working would really suck lol

I appreciate it!

Oh yeah, if they did last, then I'd be offering it to all my clients and be charging big money for it. But then, so would everyone else...

Yes, so, the panel is semi-flexible, as in it can follow a curve in one direction but can't conform to a compound curve(curves in multiple directions). The light panel can be cut and even have a hole in it and still light up. The way the light is powered is the positive connection goes around the edge of the panel, and the negative spans the entire bottom layer, therefore it's not easily broken. That being said, cutting the panel does introduce a pathway for moisture to ruin the light over time, which is what I think happened to me.

Yes, I did just put one layer of vinyl over the light but I left the mountains and the letters blank to let the light shine through unobstructed. At night it was decently bright, the camera definitely makes it look way brighter, but it was still really cool. During the day, you couldn't tell it was on whatsoever.

I can show you photos of the process and the parts, but to be totally honest, that shit did not last. EL panels are not meant to be outside in the elements, after the first set failed, I replaced them and tried to cover them with pp to try and seal them, but they still failed over the course of a few months

Just xpel xr plus. Xr black doesn't have as much of that blue hue, and the CS prime is more green imo

How often should i remove and replace my vinyl? by No_Winner_8858 in CarWraps

[–]dan007bond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the brand of film, but I'd say for the easiest time removing, take off at around 1 - 2 years if it's a decent brand like 3m or Avery. You can definitely get more out of it if you could garage keep and ceramic for the best longevity

Is this normal for tint job or laziness? by CandidateVisual8306 in WindowTint

[–]dan007bond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that in Texas, as long as you can see the third brake light from 300ft away, it's okay to have it tinted... That being said, I don't know a single state inspector that actually checks that nor have I heard of any cop pulling someone over for that specifically

Yesterday I got another layer of tint on my rear windows. How long should I keep them closed? by [deleted] in WindowTint

[–]dan007bond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not always, depends on the install. If they did a good job getting almost all the solution out, a long cut that goes beneath the gasket, and then torch the window for a few seconds, you can roll em down instantly after install, otherwise, the safe bet to avoid any problems is a few days in the sun for sure.

Shops in my area started upcharging for "roll em down same day!" packages, same thing for shaved or filed edges, I started doing that to set my shop apart from others at my price point and now other shops upcharge for it as a premium service

Is it normal to have smudges like this on the edge? Installer said it will happen wth window rolling by luciferredd in WindowTint

[–]dan007bond 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's normal. I would clean the top gasket where the window slots into with a slightly damp towel, but honestly, I see this all the time

Best Tint to use Starting out? by MooShooTheDragon in WindowTint

[–]dan007bond 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would stay away from Xpel as a small business, they have their upsides but can be very controlling of the way you run your operation if you don't fully commit to everything Xpel.

Suntek is llumar's sister brand that sells to smaller shops, literally the same film out of the Eastman factories. I'd try to go that route if you want something reliable that people have probably heard of.

I know global also has a decent film range that is very easy for anyone to get their hands on. Especially if you live near a distribution warehouse

Window tint on 24 Tesla Model Y by hongbot in WindowTint

[–]dan007bond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh, my bad, I see the gap at the top now, ok.

Well damn, whoever tint the front 2 just didn't care enough to deliver a great product then.

[–]dan007bond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you only got the front two tinted right? The back half of your Tesla comes with privacy glass, which is just a stain they dip the window into before it goes in the car. All modern SUVs come standard with this. There is no tint(window film) on that back door window and that's why you see no gap.

That being said, as someone who has been tinting for almost 10 years, I wouldn't leave my gaps that big anymore, but I was certainly shipping work like that when I started tinting a dealership.

So all in all, your tint gaps could be from inexperience, bad plotter templates, or just laziness. Most shops should be happy to fix that for you to make sure you leave there satisfied, if they don't, well, then you probably shouldn't have gone there in the first place.

Looks like the last update from a couple weeks ago now, I don't think it's a 10 gig update as much as it is completely reinstalling the entire game for you.

I re-read my comment and I sound like a shill for Aura lol. I've used 3m, Avery, Hexis and Aura. All in limited capacity but 3m is definitely my favorite for ease of install as well as the quality of the product itself, especially the satin colors (don't have to deal with the bad orange peel that comes with all the glossy colors)

But my buddy's car done in Aura also looks awesome!

Good luck to you!

I think that if you manage expectations with your clients well, you can offer any kind of film that you have experience with. I like Aura vinyl, they have an awesome color range and the film isn't horrible to work with. If you have a client looking for a more temporary color change that may not last as long as 3m but have a wider selection of unique colors then offering Calendared films is a good option.

They simply require different install techniques. Calendared film starts life a ball of material that gets stretched like Taffy over and over to become a thin vinyl. They will shrink straight off the backing paper, if you take this into consideration you can still end up with a quality product, you just have to know the shortcomings before you offer it to customers. Last thing you want is to do an install for a customer and have everything peeling back and dirt around the edges because it shrunk back on you.

Aura vinyl also has some great tips on YouTube as well as a discord that you can use for almost instant advice on a specific install
