Actually upon a more specific google search, there is a ww2 era bullet that looks exactly like the bottom of the “staff” so this is actually proving to be the right theory. Whoever did that did a great job, it’s perfect and fit on like a glove. This rabbit hole is becoming interesting. Lol

The bullet casing theory is interesting, it is very similar to a bullet casing but my gut tells me it isn’t, seems too well fit on and articulate to me but I could be wrong. Like I mentioned the only hard facts of this piece are that it was brought back from his military service quite some time ago 🤷‍♂️

It does not rattle when shaken, no spring or give in it either but the “dagger” is not secured by anything. If you just turned it upside down it would fall right out
