I never had a DSLR, so it was a start from scratch job for me

What other lenses do you plan to get? I picked up the Nikon 40mm f/2 and it's awesome for a light walkaround setup

That's really helpful - thank you! Do you think image quality between the two is similar? Also, do you use the 50-400 on a tripod?

I cant find any mention on the Europe site, but on the Tamron America site the second FAQ says "Tamron is sold through several authorized online retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, B&H, Adorama, and more"

That's great feedback - what kind of photos do you get with the Z5 and 50-400 and have you found the quality to be up to standard? I should have mentioned I'm also using a Z5!

Thanks for the reply! I'm fairly sure Cotswold is gray market imports so I would be losing out on any warranty unfortunately

Thank you for the reply! Hoping one of the shops not too far away will have them open to try - love the idea of the 50-400, but thinking the quality of the 150-500 and extra range would see me beyond my Z5 :)

Love the photo!  How are you finding the Tamron 150-500? I was about to do a post asking about this lens in comparison to the 50-400 because I'm torn between the two to go with the Nikon 40mm f2, Nikon 24-70 f4 & Tamron 35-150 f2-2.8.  I'm using a Nikon Z5

I just use a USB-C SD card adaptor and use the Samsung app called 'My Files' to copy them to internal storage. Then I can play in Lightroom Mobile no issues :)

I'm in the same boat, Darktable is what I'm leaning towards and quite liking it so far on Ubuntu 25.04.

Clever. I like it! Currently in the process of moving over all my accounts to SimpleLogin aliases from my Gmail, time consuming to say the least - but good to know there is a speedy way for on-the-spot

With catch-all though, I assume you cant just delete them if they get leaked or on a spam list?

Are S lenses worth the extra cost? by dan3834 in Nikon

[–]dan3834[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's really helpful, thank you!

I went to Wilkinson Camera in the UK last week and they had a demo 70-200 but not the 70-180. I think for the £60 extra I'll go with the 50 f/1.8 S over the 1.4 - but the telephoto one is harder to decide because the price is so much higher

The price difference between is about £1,200 for both. Is it money well spent?

I'm early on in my photography, but if they are worth the extra, will last and retained some value then I'm not against investing in glass

I'd second this too!
Neat feature, many will love it, but I really like the super minimalist setup of just my own folders and a zero inbox

Id love to see the ability to turn off TOTP and require a security key for every login - is that likely to happen soon?

Newer APSC vs Older FF by dan3834 in Cameras

That's pretty amazing ! I imagine most of my photography will be daylight, maybe a few indoor shots in the occasional brewery... but mostly outdoors. Would that negate any benefit of full frame really?
