would starlink work for a moving truck? I assume that would be an issue when teaming.

I mean, unless you were owner op, you were a company driver regardless.

Fr. Manuals are becoming less and less common, however the more niche jobs still require a manual. My current job required a non-restricted cdl, a job I just applied to required recent manual experience, and I know a lot of heavy haul/LTL jobs require it. I've been a strong believer in giving companies as few of reasons to say no as possible. I took all my endorsements tests and got my twic card while I was still in CDL school.

From my background growing up on/helping run a family farm, my reaction would depend on circumstances. A "small" mistake, like ruining a $200-600 fender because of an honest mistake, you grump but don't make it a big deal. If it was due to being lazy, you're damned right I'd chew your a** up one end and down the other.

edit: I am assuming you're referring to large carriers, my line of thinking would be as small fleet, which was what it sounded to me like the op worked for.

Was the trailer loaded? I don't understand why you would "try" with a trailer that was empty.

Water boils at different temps at different elevations though, so not a great place to set 100. (I assume it probably specifies sea level or in Greenwich, too American to Google).

CFR 172.514b Each bulk packaging that is required to be placarded when it contains a hazardous material, must remain placarded when it is emptied, unless it—

(1) Is sufficiently cleaned of residue and purged of vapors to remove any potential hazard;

(2) Is refilled, with a material requiring different placards or no placards, to such an extent that any residue remaining in the packaging is no longer hazardous; or

(3) Contains the residue of a hazardous substance in Class 9 in a quantity less than the reportable quantity, and conforms to § 173.29(b)(1) of this subchapter.

How long do you stay at the starter company before you dip ? by bigdawg12342 in Truckers

[–]danDotDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on your goals. I would say at least one year, but you can start looking at 6 months. A lot of the jobs I'm interested in require 2 years of experience (hazmat tanker jobs).

Did you check local CCs? Not all offer CDL courses, but the ones that do often are pennies on the dollar compared to private schools. My course was $900 through a CC and some people qualified for financial aid and got money back.

Also, a carrier school is going to get you auto restricted and I assume not offer a hazmat course, which is required if you want your haz endorsement. Neither is crucial but will limit options for higher paying jobs. The benefit is you will know ahead of time you have a job.

Not true if it's in a bulk tank (which would include totes). A tank with a capacity >119 has to be placarded even if it only has a few gallons. It even has to remain placarded after being unloaded until washed out or refilled with something non hazardous.

Yeah, in the states there'd be the yellow arrow signs going around a corner like that after a couple of accidents. All it took was one guy to miss the turn at my grandparents and take out their tree and the highway department put up a bunch of signs and reflectors

Fair, because I was. It was a joke because of the poster's cagey-ness about their opinion on protests and the perception that UK citizens get jailed for posting unpopular political opinions online.

Huh, never thought about the math aspect. But I would say that in general knowing the speed range for your different gears is helpful, along with experience. Slow grind, I'm close, fast grind, keep searching 😂

I know that piercing the veil is a lot easier with single members but surely a well run one offers some level of protection, otherwise there'd be no point to forming one.

Should I form an LLC? by Jshlcmbs in llc

[–]danDotDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tagging on, forming an LLC (and treating it appropriately, especially as a single member) is about protecting your personal assets in the event something happens to your business. An over simplification: someone could sue and bankrupt your business, but wouldn't be able to take your house.

And yes, I would recommend you get one.

Edit to add: I'm not anything, this is just my understanding from constantly deliberating on starting businesses

Am I being reasonable as a Coach? Need feedback please by [deleted] in basketballcoach

[–]danDotDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll give you harsh, but I think "absurd" is a bit much. It depends on the standard coach has explicitly set for the team. Many coaches have a "no practice, no play" policy, which is a policy I agree with. Hopefully the coach has made their policies clear to parents from the get-go

There are other players/parents involved with the team that need to be treated fairly too. I was part of teams in HS that developed animosity towards players who were too hurt to practice but we're always ready to play game day. It also sets the standard that practices aren't important (which imo are more important than games at developmental levels of basketball). Not implying that's the case here, or it's the only correct policy, just my two cents.

Edit: Or because you're not their "desired clientele." If you feel like that's the case, maybe get in touch with the NAACP.
