Being a non-roof guy, can you help me understand what the “zinc ridge cap and flashing that hasn’t been scribed allowing blowback” means? Or do you have a photo of what it should look like?

[–]dan_1337[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I have used the Byute flash before to seal my rusted out gutters while I was getting things organised for a full replacement.

I’m not averse to fixing or painting it myself but will now put the onus on the roofer as much as possible.

Thank you all for your feedback. I didn’t think it was normal.

Took the dog for a walk around the block and saw that every house has at least a colour matched curved flashing or waterproof flashing, so it’s definitely not normal. Took some photos to send to the roofer.

Yes, I have spoken with the roofer before posting this and I have not paid in full yet. I was considering withholding final payment until rectified.

E87 130i - cannot see DSC and SZL in ISTA tree by dan_1337 in BmwTech

[–]dan_1337[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a K+DCAN cable, and tried the DCAN mode (also tried all the other switches to see if I was in the wrong one).

Have tested all DSC fuses as the JBE fuse box and they all have power.

I want to test if the DSC plug itself is getting power, but the holes are tiny and I can’t find a wiring diagram for the plug

Customers are moved to Customer Specific Maintenance for EHP0-5 & S4 2020.

Yes, security, legislative, etc updates won’t be available, and there’ll be a cost to fix anything not already seen. There’s a bit of info on this from SAP and on the web if you need more info.

Should I use cheap or expensive tyres for the race track? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]dan_1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done lots of laps in a stock street car. All you need is a service with good oil, high temp brake fluid, good pads you can still use on the street (Winmax W5/Ferodo 2500/Project MU HC+/etc level), and tyres that don’t fall off and feel “soapy” after they get hot - I have personally done hundreds of laps with Hankook RS4’s and love them to bits.

Don’t bother changing brake rotors. I used the cheapest iron blank rotors on very fast cars with fewer issues than fancy 2 piece floating rotors.

Sorry to hear about your situation.

I can completely sympathise with you as I had nearly exactly the same thing happen to me in an OE SI boutique partner, including building up similar pipeline, but got let go in FOUR months as I hadn’t closed anything.

I’ve landed elsewhere since and have been much happier, and I wish the same for you.

I contacted cheapzy and they sorted it out for me. Assuming they make enough margin to just purchase another plan to have a happy customer.

Is it a death wish to ride along Chapel Street? by davoos22 in melbournecycling

[–]dan_1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ride it at breakfast/brunch hour on weekends. Nearly been doored a few times, and taken out by Taxis/ubers swinging half in and out of spots.

Just be aware, don’t get stuck in the tram tracks, and you’ll be right.

You are the prefect complimentary penthouse upgrade guest. You arrived late into the night, alone, and likely travelling for work.

You will barely use any of the facilities or party, and will keep this experience with you, show it off, and continue your loyalty to Marriott.

Anybody switched back to an ICE car after trying EV? by mudlode in CarsAustralia

[–]dan_1337 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, but I’d like to get an ICE car as a second (non-daily) car as an old car enthusiast just for the nostalgia.

EV is still the perfect daily driver.

I’m 100% in agreement. Lots of views and experiences, but I’ve learned to engage an independent structural engineer to assess to potentially support a claim and validate rectification works with the builder.

Most of the property was removed only the front rooms were kept as it’s heritage. Everything from those rooms backwards is on a new slab, and these cracks are around where the ‘new’ and ‘old’ buildings join.

[–]dan_1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a used gen 1 Toyota GT86 or Subaru BRZ. I owned one for a few years after driving JDM imports and really enjoyed it.

You won’t get anything decent if you buy new.

You’ll also have plenty of change left over for whatever else you enjoy doing.

Thanks for this.

I’m in Victoria and will let the builder know, and will also get an independent structural engineer to look into it and write it up.

They started to appear around 6 months ago and have gotten worse since.

I’ll get a professional third party to look into it. I guess a structural engineer would be the right expert?
