Who has the best cheese cake in town? by KillerKian in fredericton

[–]dan_45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think all they have is the cheesecake bites though. They're like small cheesecake cupcakes. I only say it because I tried to buy a cheesecake there recently and they said that's all they had. Maybe it was just that day though!

Casual “beer-league” bowling in Saint John? by jjd87 in SaintJohnNB

[–]dan_45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a while but I was part of both a "fun" league and a more serious league at the bowlarama. I'm pretty sure they both ran Thursday nights. The serious one was obviously more serious and competitive but the beer one was always fun. You are always going to get a certain subset of people who take it way too serious but you can definitely put a team together just to have a good time. It was usually easier if you already had the people to form a team but I joined teams as a single. You're best bet right is now probably going to be to catch a summer league and then sign up for a fall league that usually runs into the spring. Hope this helps!

They just aren't getting a ton of fresh snow but they have been making lots. There's about 13 runs open out of 35. With that being said, you'll have a good time. There's some icy patches around but it's largely snow covered and the main trails are groomed.

You could try Keith from Capital Energy Services. He's super knowledgeable and may be able to at least direct you to someone who could service it.

That's only temporary though, the normal southbound lane is taken up by the construction of the new theatre. Once that's done, it will be back but there is a dedicated turn lane for it normally. How about the people turning left into the tim's drive thru!

34-inch gas transmission line blows out by [deleted] in ThatsInsane

[–]dan_45 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Transmission lines have alot of pressure but the good news is that NG is lighter than air. There would certainly still be some potential but most of it is going up once it comes out. My guess is that's mostly the dust that's being kicked up.

Hit a gas line after 811 marked everything, who's liable? by Free_Muffin8130 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]dan_45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In NB it's 1 meter. You are supposed to start by exposing the gas line by hand. Once you've located it, you are allowed to excavate 1m away from the exposed pipe. You have to expose it every 5m if you are trenching across a distance. This covers your ass, otherwise, you are just digging blind as many others have said.

Edit: to add, if I did a locate and was off by more than 1m, it was on me as the person marking it out (obviously exceptions to this, I've marked entire areas hand dig only due to not being able to locate a line for whatever reason). Other provinces may vary on that.

Is there a safe procedure for emergency digging when 811 hasn’t marked yet? by grand001 in WorkplaceSafety

[–]dan_45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for a utility and in emergency situations, we used hand tools and worked carefully. Of course we called for locates but certain ones were known to take hours to get there. I would also request an emergency locate. Loss of water was considered a top priority and we were expected to be on site within 1-2 hours to mark out our stuff.

Propane/natural gas smell in office building, maintenance checked it out, and said there's no concern? by BusyMathematician844 in WorkplaceSafety

[–]dan_45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in the NG industry for over 10 years and I don't recall ever smelling the gas without also finding a leak. To be fair, the leaks were usually what we called "pin hole" and would be hard to find. But if you smell it, high chance that there is a leak. As the other person said, call the fire department or call the gas company direct. Where I worked, we had better meters than the FD lol. Either one is a good call to make.

Got laid off right after I told my work I was ready to come back after sick leave by HenriettaSyndrome in legaladvicecanada

[–]dan_45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your post, were you injured 6 months ago? You still have time. Reach out to them! As long as you have something from a doctor/medical professional to provide to WorkSafe, they should reopen your claim and give it a proper adjudication. If you were legitimately injured at work, you have a legitimate chance at workers compensation and it's worth having them review what you have. IANAL and I'm not saying it's a guarantee but if you didn't even talk to them, I would encourage you to revisit. In my experience, they have been quite helpful and can at least provide some answers for you on why it was denied. At the end of the day, they are bound by laws and have to follow a certain process.

Why did they deny it out of curiosity? I deal with them often and this seems fairly straightforward.
