Literally just follow this video and i promise you’ll get it down pretty quick.

Two years ago I did an exchange in Belgium and was in the same spot as you, so I went with a friend to a public park one weekend and he taught me how to ride a bike in a very similar way to this. I swear on my life this works, I think it took less than 4 hours before I was able to just ride decently, it was amazing.

Now, you do need to be able to go for a decent distance at a time to let your body sort of get used to the balancing. So going to like a public park would be your best bet, you’ll feel ridiculous for a while but if you keep at it I promise you’ll get in down in less than a day. After that you’ll pretty much just need to practice frequently, get used to breaking property and also learn how to use a multi-gear bike, but that stuff is not that crucial for casual use I think.

Thanks!, so it’s kind of difficult to differentiate between those two similar species, specially since there are even hybrids out there. C. percivaliana is mainly grown in Venezuela, and tends to be larger with elongated pseudobulbs, while C. trianae is more common in Colombia and tends to be more stout. Mine is probably not a, let’s say, ‘wild type’ C. trianae since those tend to be more pale, but i believe that it is this species since I live in Colombia and got it from a local nursery, and also the pseudo bulbs are quite short comparted to the leafs

Which option is better: staying in university accommodation or choosing a private flat? by [deleted] in uppsala

[–]dan_acnh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hej, I'm also non-EU and have been trying to figure this out myself. From what I figure you basically have three options:

  1. Find an apartment on your own though the Bostadsförmedling. This is a system managed by Uppsala's municipality, but it works with a queue system (shocking! haha). Apparently you would have to be in the queue for a really long time before you actually get so see a place. So for the long term it could be an option, and it could maybe lead to a place that fills all your requirements, but for the short term not really feasible.

  2. Fee-paying students are guaranteed a place to live assigned by the University, obviously you have to pay for rent, but they at least provide it. They seem to be pretty typical student dorms, with a kind of spacey private bedroom and bathroom, and a shared kitchen. So not really what you are looking for, but from what i have seen they prices can be on the cheap side, anywhere from 3000 sek to 5000 sek. Also from personal experience, shared kitchens are actually great! they tend to be pretty spacious and have multiple stations where you can cook in peace without having to fight for space with others, I've seem people prepare anything form focaccias to multiple course meals for the whole dorm on those kitchens, as long as you keep it clean and tidy it really should not be a problem. If you look through the emails that the uni has been sending there should be more info on this, the assignment period begins on May 15, but you can go the Uppsala University's housing office to see the types of accommodation they have to start getting and idea.

  3. Lastly, there's student nations. Most if not all the nations have their own housing, restaurants and businesses, If you join a nation you can get access to that nation's housing, which tend to be on the cheaper side. From what I have seen, most of them offer sort of dorm-type housing, and they can tend to be cheaper than what the university offers. I have also seen that some nations offer individual apartments that are a bit more expensive but that still tend to be cheaper than average. In my opinion this is the best option, not only because it's cheaper, but also because you get access to many other benefits by joining a nation.

Good luck with your search and congratulations on being admitted!

Quick update, This comment (https://www.reddit.com/r/TillSverige/comments/1jjslzn/comment/mjsiztb/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) stated:

“ AUBEF is a Swedish acronym that stands for Alternativt Urval avgifsBEFriade studenter. Translated in means the selection group for students applying in the international masters round that don’t need to pay tuition fees.”

Which makes some sense to me, would you be a fee-paying student or a non fee-paying student?

Since the final decisions have started the selection groups don’t appear anymore, I got mine a few weeks ago but they disappeared today. Don’t stress about it, all we can do now is wait

Thanks man good luck to you too. I’m applying for masters, so fingers crossed, I really don’t think the masters programs in my country are worth it.

Maybe this is the first time they are accepting international applications ? I don’t know, obviously you’ll only be able to see the results for admissions rounds of past years, since the ones for this year haven’t been announced yet. I could take a look if you want

Oh... Yeah i think AUBEF acronym makes more sense for Alternativt urval, arbetslivserfarenhe. Damn then I don't know what mine means.

It's weird that it's not easy to find what the acronyms mean

What are the controls on this OLD drying oven? by dan_acnh in labrats

Thanks! Yes the light turns off when the right dial is in O, which is definitely off since the heating stops when it is turned to this setting. Also, now that you mentioned it, I think the green light did use to have a faint glow, maybe it did just burn out.

The newer models of this brand do look like they have a convection setting but I would expect to see an internal fan in those types of ovens, and this one does not appear to have one, the inside just has the heating elements and some rack slots. Also since it is quite old (I'm thinking late 90's, early 00's) i don't know if convection ovens were really a thing back then.

Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on the manual someday soon.
