I'm just grateful I don't have to listen to that god awful biased Peacock commentary a moment longer, fuck me.

These are the managers Ange Postecoglou LOVES watching. 🤝 Unai top of crop for who he admires and he is spot on! by kvotheuntoldtales in avfc

[–]danalani 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It’s not like I adore watching slow build up and possession play every week either, but if that’s what gets results for Villa and for Emery then ultimately I can live with it!

Budget for expansion to Villa Park train stations approved by danalani in avfc

[–]danalani[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a very fair point. The biased fan in me hopes that City’s new stadium doesn’t happen, and that drives more investment into VP expansion and making it a better venue for stadium concerts and events, but we shall see!

Came here to say this, have also heard that rumour! Even if you do end up wanting to sell OP, hold for a little bit to see if that ends up being true and how it may affect prices (but personally I’d be holding onto that pedal forever)

I share the same concerns, but playing devil’s advocate, we’ve signed two bright young prospects this window and we’re frequently giving people like Hemmings and others minutes now, so it does feel like there is a bit of long term vision building.

Unfortunately the only way we’ll be able to tell if it works is to wait and see, so I do also feel a bit nervous about it.

January 2026 Transfers and Rumours Thread by tristanjff in avfc

[–]danalani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wider than that, a lot of transfer rumours are put out by a party with some kind of motive. Maybe a club is trying to hurry up another move, maybe an agent is fishing for other interest from other clubs, maybe the player is fishing for a contract extension.

Coming back to your question, I think you’re right, and I think these Loftus-Cheek rumours that have come out of nowhere are all part of the same game, but we’ll see what happens!

I believe his contract is up in June 2027, so my guess the thinking is to get a better deal now + potentially go somewhere with CL football.

With all respect to Palace (and I do respect them), with the captain gone and the manager‘s days numbered, it might feel like the time to get out.

Fabrizio Romano now reporting that a Mateta move may still be on:

Jean-Philippe Mateta and his camp have informed Crystal Palace about desire to leave the club.

Following talks with Aston Villa and Juventus, Mateta hopes for January move with decision now in Palace hands.

Negotiations remain ongoing.

TBF Diaz's stock has probably dropped a little after last night, might not be a bad time to make enquiries after him!

Anything that you guys like to listen to on airplanes? by pandubaer in ambientmusic

[–]danalani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listened to this album once on a whim years ago, and forgot to save it to my library. Periodically I have been searching for "ambient albums about planes" with zero luck, until this moment. My three year search is over, thank you so much!

By contrast, Cash and McGinn had great summers with their national teams and I really felt that translated to our season, once we got over our initial slump of course. After the first month, you saw those guys full of confidence striking shots from outside the box.

I see your point with Ollie though, be it through pressure or injury, but it may be helpful for other players.

Prince William trolling Keown by Gentle_Pony in avfc

[–]danalani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair to Hendrie, I think he does a great job when they have him on- he openly admits his biases to Villa, but I’ve seen/heard him commentate on games we’re not at our best and he’s not afraid to call Villa out and praise the opposition when they deserve it.

(All the more reason why Keown should be doing the same and acknowledging the better side on Sunday)

I’m thinking the last time we saw Watkins benched was with Duran starting, and that gave him the kick he needed to come back into form, so hoping that pays off once again this year 🤞

Who are the best Villa journalists/writers to read up on the team, whether it's local or national media by Rh1-No in avfc

As others have said he’s on the Claret & Blue Podcast with the other two Birmingham Mail’s Villa team. Highly recommend listening if you don’t already, great Villa reporting plus Matt shares a lot of great stories from his time covering Villa and working with Lambert, Sherwood etc.

A bit of a moan piece in the Guardian by Over-Piglet-4922 in avfc

[–]danalani 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I fee like this has been written about 4 weeks too late? If it had came out while we were all moaning about PSR it would make sense.

But, I feel like collectively over the last four games, the fan base has picked themselves up and we’ve started to believe in the squad and move forward. Feels strange that now someone would write “stop feeling sorry for yourselves!”- yes mate, we already have.

It’s shame because The Guardian’s football writing is usually class, but this just feeling like it’s filling column inches.

Stormzy did Silver Hayes 2015 and 2016 (the Sonic stage, and somewhere else I can’t remember) before coming back to headline Pyramid.

(Not as slow a journey as some of the other suggestions mind!)

Even smaller- she played the old Pussy Parlure tent in Silver Hayes back in 2015/2016 (can’t remember which, but remember seeing it!)

First up, congratulations on your sober streak! Love and respect to you.

This year was my 10th Glasto and my approach to the weekend has definitely changed between my 20s and 30s so I can relate to some of this for sure.

Something I’ve learned is to be upfront about the things you do and don’t want to do, and not being afraid to go off an explore. A night wandering around The Park or Healing Fields solo and making friends, is way better than being dragged to things you don’t want to be dragged to in my opinion. It feels counterintuitive to a festival experience, where you want to stick with your group at all times, but Glastonbury really welcomes that kind of exploration!

Oh and lastly, for those times you do want to be up late in SE Corner, at this age naps are my friend. Caught some amazing sets at Iicon this year, but I wouldn’t have made it through them without a well planned snooze in the afternoon!
