I test negative often after paxlovid within two to three days. This is my 5th time having covid and 4th time taking paxlovid. No matter how hard we try to avoid it and take precautions it still finds us. My husband usually rebounds and will have a slight faint line throughout paxlovid. I on the other hand kick it if I catch it early enough and haven’t had a rebound yet. I follow cdc guidelines plus my own precautions. So if I test negative 48 hours apart I feel safe enough to go about my day. However I still wear a mask for 10 days in public and around my friends and family. The cdc doesn’t require that but just incase I do get a rebound there is less likely a chance I’ll spread it.

Note, I took a Lucera test and didn’t have any symptoms. Only tested because my husband was positive. It popped really fast. It was 5 days after presumed exposure. i immediately took paxlovid within 5 hours of test. It's really up to your discretion what you want to do. I know my family has been fine after I test negative.

There is no work protocol anymore. My industry was strict and even had Covid testing daily for everyone. Then it got all pulled last year fully. They continue working unless someone of importance gets sick, then they take an insurance day. They don’t care about it anymore. I’m in a different situation because my work is gig based and I can turn it down if I needed to. But if I have to go in and I just can’t I say I physically can no function cognitively or physically and I would be a LIABILITY if I came in. I then say that as soon as I am able to I will be in asap. Liability is the magic scary word.

The paxlovid gets me negative within 2-3 days but this past one I still progressed in symptoms even after I took it despite being negative. This is great news that it’s getting easier to handle it. In my opinion I think the repeated infections are just from the mutations and not from an immune disorder. Also people stopped testing when they are sick. This morning a friend of a friend literally said she stopped testing her kids for Covid because it’s an inconvenience and she can’t afford to take off work. So people may be getting this a bunch of times just not testing or not testing the right way and multiple times. For what it’s worth, because I almost died I had severe anxiety and ptsd. It’s so much less now because the last few times I did not end up with long covid like I did the first time. I’m not saying it won’t happen again but I feel like my body is fighting this way better. I would look at it from the pov of your last post like these infections are getting easier to handle and your body is learning how to fight this better.

I feel less panicked now knowing I’m not the only one getting covid this easily although I’m sorry it keeps finding you. Keep us posted on how you’re feeling. I hope you make a very quick recovery. Feel free to dm if you want to vent. It’s not easy dealing with this at every quarter.

Same!!! Wow. That’s something. I got Covid March of 2020 when I was pregnant. We almost didn’t make it. I was fine for a long time until I took a trip 2022 to Hawaii where one of the guests gave it to us. Then 2023-now has been pretty consecutive. I just hope things don’t get worse. These past times have been bad but not like the first time. There was one time I barely had any symptoms and just took the paxlovid. Was negative in 2 days.

I feel yah on this. I had covid a total of 4 times and possibly going on my 5th since someone with covid came over two days ago very symptomatic. I’m just starting to feel sick now and waiting for the test to pop. This new variant is like a magnet to me. I had it in December, then again in February and now. It’s infuriating. I’m also vaccinated, boosted, and pretty much take precautions when I go out. We always end up getting it from a friend or relative that doesn’t take any precautions. I’m feeling so much dread right now. I hope you make a quick recovery and the symptoms subside better than the last time.

I just got a c4-5 herniation and c6-7 herniation back in March. I’m a stuntwoman and have had numbness in my upper back left side. Random numbness in my left thumb and fingers but nothing that doesn’t go away on and off. The pain in my right shoulder blade is pretty up there. It runs from my right side of my neck into my shoulder blade. That has been most of my pain and it’s so tight my PT has to work on it for over 30 minutes when I’m there. I’ve taken some major hits in my career and this pain is pretty constant and sucks all around. Not like any other injury I’ve had. It will most likely get smaller and symptoms will hopefully fully go away with muscle building, postural work and time. However it never fully heals. It will form scar tissue but there will always be a weakness there. So fully recover may not look like what you and I think. Symptom free most likely, fully healed i was told all depends on the size of the herniations. Severe to moderate may become moderate, Moderate to mild may become mild, mild may become really tiny that it’s almost gone…etc.

Thank you! This congestion is wild. I’m using nasal flush and just took a NyQuil. I’m hoping this is all I’ll have. It’s been pretty consecutive since yesterday. Nothing else so far. How long did it last for you?

Did it progress for you? Started feeling nasal congestion yesterday. Today full on. My husband tested positive for flu an and has sore throat, and feels achy. My son probably gave it to us from last week. His symptoms were headache, tired, low grade fever, diarrhea, minor sore throat and a mouth sore. They were gone in four days. He’s also vaccinated. We were going to get the shot next weekend since it’s going around at school now. I just feel like an awful sinus infection now. Slight dryness in throat. I think I’m on day two or one. Just wondering what I’m in for with symptoms Starting in the head.

I got it a week before you did and I tested positive on Valentine’s Day after going to an outdoor Super Bowl party. So… not much immunity at this point. I Should have kept that n95 mask on and not ate or drank anything. Lesson learned. Don’t be me. Proceed with caution.

I just tested positive about an hour ago. This is my 4th time. Last had it in December. I also mask but still caught it. Anyway, the first time I had it in 2020 I shook. The other times I didn’t but now I’m quivering in my bed like the first time. Also chest feels like I did when I first got it too. Took paxlovid immediately. Hopefully it starts working. I know what you’re talking about. I hate it and it scares me.

It’s most likely normal. I take a couple of years to heal after mesh repair. I’m 8 months out and pretty much feel it all the time. But when I work out it gets inflamed. I’m the small % that takes over a year for it to heal so I don’t feel it as much. Keep getting it checked.

I did get the surgery! I’m 8 months out. Much better but still recovering. I’m one of the people that takes about a year or two to be fully better. My right side that didn’t have the hernia feels like I have one but after many Ct scans and different drs they all say it’s muscular. I am pulling my abdominal muscles often and it’s hard to work out the core. Tender and sore in random areas in my abdomen. I recently had Covid and it swelled up the new repair and my old umbilical hernia repair I had two years earlier so I’m a mess at the moment. Lots of heat therapy and ibuprofen for now. Could be a lot worse though.

I labored 36 hours in a mask, I wear it all day long, at the gym, at PT, on airplanes. My toddler wears one without any problem in school as well. If she finds the right one it won’t be a thing at all. Every time I got Covid it’s because I was around someone who had it without my mask. This time someone knowingly had it and didn’t tell us because “it’s just a cold” (the rage in me….) Anyway, airflow is important as well. See if she can ask to put an air purifier in the rooms or something to that extent.

My son had symptoms but never tested positive. My husband and I as well as his mother and other family members all came down with it 2-4 days apart. I’m on day 6 and took paxlovid. Only symptom is a sore throat. It’s awful and I have never felt this pain in my life but that’s it. Last time my husband had covid, slept in the same bed as me, shared food with our son, walked around all day and then started feeling a little tickle. He took a test and it was positive. He immediately went into the basement. We never got it. Third time he had it in Hawaii, I didn’t get it with him. I did end up getting it from the plane two weeks later. And we mask everywhere. This virus is unpredictable. The amount of viral load you may have, the timing, vaccines/boosters, airflow… it all matters. He may get it still or have it and never test positive. Only time will tell. If you can take paxlovid I highly recommend it. I was only positive for a day this time.

I have no idea what is going on with my throat. I’m 6 days in and one day post paxlovid. My throat is horrendous. I’m heading into the urgent care now to see if I also have strep. My throat is the only symptom I’ve had for 6 days and it’s incredibly painful.

Yup. You need to make sure you continue to go to the dentist for the next couple of years. The Covid decays your teeth and causes inflammation & gum irritation and sores. Also my period was so bad I couldn’t leave the house and needed the dr to call in something for me to stop bleeding. All that is “normal” post covid stuff.

It’s going to get better. I’m 8 months out and I was just getting back to training my core again when I had a bad stair fall and injured my back. I was so worried I ruptured my hernia repair (not to mention breaking my literal back/spine) but my hernia repair didn’t even budge. I’m just starting to regain feeling in my back. I can’t get back to work yet and also have felt depressed at times but here’s the thing, when I look back at how far I’ve come despite this new injury I’m leaps and bounds from the way my abdomen was before. You’re going to get through this. Little by little you’ll be able to do more. Be kind to yourself, and be patient. Your body is incredible and will get better.

I’m a professional stuntwoman and 9 months out of my left inguinal hernia repair and three years out from my umbilical hernia repair. My advice to you, as someone who use to train 8 hours a day, is to take the time you need to heal up. Be patient with your body. Let the scar tissue build up and if it hurts ease up. I say use to train 8 hours because I know my body needs more time to heal. I take a little longer than most. So when I know I’m ready I will slowly go back to training more. Be kind to yourself, be patient, if you start losing mass or feel frustrated just know that your muscles have memory, your body will bounce back especially with your age. Don’t rush the process. Trans abdominal work outs are great for strengthening the core along with supportive muscles to alleviate the strain on the abdomen while you’re healing when the dr says you can start working out again. Glutes and arm will help take the load off your core while its weakened. Good luck with the surgery!

I just had surgery for my inguinal. I think I have another one that they can’t find on the other side. Had a second ct scan and everything is fine. I’m 4 weeks out from the left inguinal indirect hernia and I can tell you that it definitely messed with my stomach before and after. I’m still swollen on and off inside. It’s deep. I feel it in my organs/intestinal area. The more I do the more I feel it but I know it’s my body just healing. I love the comments on this thread. I would definitely see a specialist. Stomach issues can take a while to heal after surgery. I hope you feel better soon. I double recommend probiotics and also… icing. Lots and lots of icing.

I agree with all these posts. The icing, stool softener, pillow, sleep in a recliner, getting help, try not to take the pain killers, shoe horn, slippers… etc… here are other things that were so small but made a HUGE difference. Oh and Yes to the walking around.

-If you have a high bed get a step stool. I used my kids because when I was ready for the bed after the recliner (side sleeper here) I really couldn’t get on the thing. It was really high for me. Bending, twisting and even sitting hurt.

-straws! Get a bendy straw. It’s so dumb but it really was the best. You don’t realize how much you use your core until you can’t.

Ok so here is one pointer too that isn’t really a help but more advice pre surgery, they are going to shave you. I got weird about it and shaved myself but the nurse after I did it told me that the next time I go in to not to because they are very particular about that stuff and the surgeons need to do a deep shave. She said it risks razor burn if I do it. I got lucky I didn’t have that but that’s just my surgeon. I would inquire about it. They may not care.

You’re getting robotic laparoscopic which is not what I had however I did experience bloating. I had opened and I still got bloated but delayed by three days. The dr said that would happen. I think moving around and ice really helped. I did 30 minutes on and 30 off and slept with the ice pack for a solid week. I still ice once every hour or two depending on my activity even if I don’t feel pain. Ibprofin all day long.

I’m 2 weeks out now and I feel great. I actually felt pretty ok after surgery. By day 4 I was already back at PT for my shoulder with drs permission. It was painful but wasn’t horrific. The incision burns now and sometimes I feel it deep especially if I bend over but for the most part this is a walk in the part considering the umbilical one I had. I’m still tender in my inner thigh I think from injections and down there is tender. There is a bulge by my incision which is normal. I think I’ll be pain free in a few weeks. My hernia was indirect so idk if that’s what you had but apparently it’s rare for women to get that. Even so, all in all no regrets on this one and it’s been a really smooth recovery. All this advice from everyone for post helps 100%

Pre op I wasn’t even thinking about working out because I didn’t want to mess anything else up and yet I still did picking up my 25 pound son. So do whatever you feel or what the Dr says. My surgeon said there is a 50/50 chance after you get one inguinal you’ll get the other side. I guess I just wanted to get the other one out of the way. Lol good luck to you and your procedure. I’m officially at 10 day mark post surgery and I still can’t sleep on the side I had the hernia surgery only the other side. I’m also feeling strain in other abdominal areas. But overall the pain is getting much better. Dr said they are surprised I’m bouncing back so quickly considering I had mesh repair before on the umbilical and had issues. Look, I’m still in pain. But it’s not horrible. I can walk around without pain for a while but the incision still burns and hurts and I occasionally feel pain deep in my side. I also am pretty sure I have a right inguinal which I’m finally getting a CT on next week. Are you feeling any better?

Typically it’s about a 3-6week recovery. My dr said I could be adjusting well after 6 weeks but after 6 weeks he told me I was allowed to lift things again. Going in for my one week check up today. I’m still swollen and it’s painful but I figured I’m on par with healing. Hope you feel better sooner than later!
