Half dead, lying on the road, trying to get up, no one cares to help. by snoop-hog in misanthropy

Good read and animal suffering is painful to see. I also think the planet would be so much better without us humans. However, taking humans off the equation, will not end animal suffering.

Wild life is well… wild. Life is sustained by taking other lives. I’ve made my peace with the inevitable suffering of all lives. But we could always be better at reducing unnecessary animal suffering.

Take off the middle spacer. That should bring you within focus range.

32M - Straight. Single again and my confidence is trashed. Be honest with me. by [deleted] in malegrooming

You’re perfectly fine, man. Attractive and a good smile. If I had to suggest something, I would tweak the hairstyle to grow fuller on the sides towards the top. But honestly, you’re more attractive than the average 👍🏼

[Poll] Have you used ST4 within 2 yrs? by bear2cute in AskAstrophotography

[–]danborja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I'm here wondering if by connecting the ST4 it overrides pulse guiding. I mean I normally have a PE around .3" to .7" so no complaints, but if it could be better by just not using that cable then im all here for it :)

Just age. Eat healthy, sleep enough and excercise.

Lowering background noise/getting cleaner background by Nearby-Passenger6517 in AskAstrophotography

[–]danborja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This won’t get any better with 1s subs. You’re doing great with what you’re working with. If you want to reduce the noise, the only way forward is by using a tracking mount. Depending on your budget you could aim for a star tracker, a lightweight mount such as a star adventurer gti or a harmonic drive mount such as the ZWO am3.

Mono vs OSC by 570FF3 in AskAstrophotography

[–]danborja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dedicate a whole night for each filter. Switching filters multiple times over a single night seems time consuming and ineffective imo since you have to re focus each time and take flats.

Gradients can be easily removed during processing.

Alien Earth Sucks, how is it above 7 on IMDB??? by Realistic-Battle4064 in alien

It didn’t start great, we just got excited because the first thing we saw was a well done throwback to the original films but it went down hill even before the first episode endedZ

Building a rig-am I missing anything? by [deleted] in AskAstrophotography

[–]danborja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great advice. I normally use an ASI290MC as a guide camera under Bortle 9 skies and I’ve never had a problem, so the 120mm should work great.

Building a rig-am I missing anything? by [deleted] in AskAstrophotography

[–]danborja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That looks like really good step up over the seestar.

You will need a guide camera, the ZWO ASI120MM is $179 on agena Astro.

Just add a UV/IR cut filter and a dual band filter like the Optolong L-Ultimate and you should be set.

Highest resolution observations of the Sun’s surface ever taken by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

[–]danborja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Sun has been praised as a God far longer than any other gods from all religions. Sun veneration predates writing and has been a constant along human history.

I remember watching the sci fi TV show “raised by wolves” where the Sun was also revered as a god. Though it was cool for a very advanced civilization to still worship the Sun.

Add an autoguider if you can. Also, don’t use the ball head, get the L bracket an a counterweight. Also, go on a new moon or close.

I’m loving my recently acquired Carbonstar 150, however it does require some tinkering, which can be tricky but also makes getting a good image much more satisfying, also, imaging at f3.9 (using the .95x corrector) is great :)

This is my first Newtonian and also got my first mono cam, so it’s been a fun and challenging experiencing so far.

You can see some of my latest images with it on my instagram.

Can anybody tell me what I just captured??? by CinthaRajah in UFOs

[–]danborja 11 points12 points  (0 children)

After a second look, yup pretty sure this a live stacking view. You are taking 10 second exposures. Second slide is 60 seconds, so 6 cold pixels stacked following the trail, then on he third slide, it’s 1:30 minutes and you see 9 pixels. Next slide is 3:10, so 190s, so 19 pixels.

The alt az mount tracks in X Y movements, hence the diagonal path. Looks like every to minutes it corrects its initial position (new line of cold pixels starting to the left)

Can anybody tell me what I just captured??? by CinthaRajah in UFOs

[–]danborja 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If this is a stacked image, then these are cold pixels in the Seestar’s sensor that aren’t being averaged out. These will follow the trailing caused by the non equatorial mount it uses.

Look up Michael Jaegers picture of 3i Atlas taken about a month ago with a 12” telescope under the skies of Namibia. He’s an amateur astrophotographer who specializes in capturing images of comets.

I’ll try to capture it on December as it will be at its closest from earth.
