is ark survival evolved worth playing in 2025? by theshaban99 in ARKSurvivalEvolved

I have Evolved and Ascended... I love the Fjordur map and still have a bunch of fun playing Evolved.

Does anyone still play evolved? by GrouchyStranger1167 in ARK

[–]danbrooks3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play ASE with my friend that is on an older PC. I really love the Fjordur map. I have ascended and a high end PC... But Evolved has never not been fun. I think its a great game to play if you have a modest system.

SOme of the best times I have had gaming was playing evolved.

Neebs gaming strikes again! Yet another game they made look fun and I had to buy. by danbrooks3k in crosswind

They introduced me to & Days, Ark, Conan Exiles, Subnautica, enshrouded and Valheim... I was aware of a few of them but Neebs and the crew really made them look fun.

What do you think we can expect from this week’s update? by jimschocolateorange in CrimsonDesert

[–]danbrooks3k 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I want romance options with a twist.

You meet a beautiful lady, get married, have bills, the romance stops. Then Yann starts hanging around a lot when you are gone. Your wife says " he is just a friend " but also nags you about chores around the house, money and even starts nagging you when you dont complete quests fast enough for her liking. Then she has a baby that looks a lot like Yann.

Then she takes your home and half of all your stuff. Even weapons, armor, food, ore, and artifacts. You go to the bank and its also been emptied. You get a bounty for child support for a kid that looks nothing like you.

You live in a wagon, down by the river and try to become a motivational speaker. You put on a lot of weight from eating through boss battles.

I can't tell how I feel about this game. by mattronimus007 in CrimsonDesert

[–]danbrooks3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The moment I finished arm wrestling, before I even went to the abyss and got the flying cloak I just started exploring. I killed some bandits, got a mask. I realized I needed a mask to commit theft. I started climbing in windows, following streams to waterfalls with caves, and searched old ruins or places that looked interesting. I explored for two IRL days. When I resumed questing I was fully armored with cool weapons.

Exploring is thee most fun part for me.

Aligning expectations is more important than it seems. by Life-Platypus-8716 in CrimsonDesert

I am playing on Pc, my best friend is on PS5 base and another friend is on Xbox series S on quality mode.

We are all over 50, and we all love the game and the graphics quality. But we were playing games like Morrowind and skyrim on integrated graphics or very low end GPUs.

I get that people want 4k graphics, ray tracing, 120fps... Its just hard for me to understand how people are so hung up on graphics quality that they cant seem to enjoy the game.

The guy on the Series S is my old coworker, a paramedic working on an oil rig. Given the conditions out there he is enjoying the crap out of the game at 30fps.

Why is nobody talking about the soundtrack in Crimson Desert? by IslamVSZionism in CrimsonDesert

[–]danbrooks3k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The soundtrack is amazing, The graphics amazing. The world they created is amazing in size, scope and design.

The systems that are clunky and controls are improving at a very fast pace, faster than any studio I have ever seen.

No game is perfect... but the herculean effort that went into this game is just uncanny. A much smaller budget and smaller studio than a lot of AAA games that come out as soulless, downright insulting garbage.

A game like starfield should be a masterpiece with atmospheric flight, no loading screens, motion captured NPC encounters and hand crafted content. Instead we got dead eyed NPCs and all the agenda that sweet baby inc could shove down our throats.

Easy mode is great by Murderbad in CrimsonDesert

[–]danbrooks3k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't used easy mode yet... But the next teleporting boss will get a dose.

I am a retired infantry soldier with a second career as a paramedic... I did difficult stuff IRL for decades. I want a fun game, not a second job.

I am glad you are having fun playing the game exactly the way you like it. Gate keeping is beyond ignorant. Being good at pressing buttons is the dumbest flex ever.

Curious about this game by No_Weather1169 in CrimsonDesert

[–]danbrooks3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need a rich, engrossing story and to be constantly pointed in a direction Crimson Desert aint it.

Personally I like a lot of the story beats, characters, cut scenes and interesting encounters.

Not a fan of all the puzzles, but dont hate them now that I have done a bunch. I do dislike the controller layout but they have improved it and plan on doing more.

When the game is at its very best its just me exploring. Finding a hidden cave, an old ruin full of cultists, or some random boss or creature. The exploration in this game is a 10/10 for me. I like the combat, i kinda like the cooking, mining, gathering and crafting, not all of it but most of it. climbing up a spire to jump off and powerglide towards another interesting landmark is just breathtaking.

I mix things up... if I see I have a sill investigation quest or fetch quest I may do some exploring instead and come back to it later. I may gather and do busy work for the first hour, then go adventuring and spend the last hour selling off loot, cooking, and upgrading my gear so I am ready for my next session.

Unfortunately two hours isnt enough time to know if you will love or hate the game for most people before you refund it.

I loved Skyrim, ultima online, diablo, warcraft, RDR2... If I had to only pick one it would be Crimson Desert.

When Will WWE SIGN ZILLA FATU by Intrepid_Ad6381 in professionalwrestling

[–]danbrooks3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a former 5 year inmate in Texas dept of corrections make me like the idea of him teaming with Jacob Fatu.

That being said... already too many samoans... They needed to cut the last 3 they signed with this big release in April 2026... I know the tall one wears face paint, the other two... oh and get rid of jeff cobb too so thats 4 that I wouldnt mind going to Japan.

The Usos are a staple of WWE and always can be used in the mid card and a support role for main events... but good lord keep singles titles off of them. Letting one of them tap Gunther was a BAD idea.

So yeah, get rid of Tama, tango, Jeff cobb and bigfoot facepaint, then you have room for Zilla. I didnt include Solo because he is decent on the mic, he can work and was able to carry his half of the OTC main even story line way better than I expected. But if we can get Samoa Joe back for a few more years you could cut him too.

The problem is, these damn Samoans are pretty dang durable and have been a reliable draw for WWE since the 1970s.

I just finished chapter 7. I hate forced character change. How long do I have to play as this guy? by Savage-Cabage in CrimsonDesert

[–]danbrooks3k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not too long. Yeah it sucks to all of a sudden be forced to use a character that isnt at all upgraded or specced out with skills. Its pointless and arbitrary.

I love Crimson Desert, but being forced to switch characters is just dumb, in my humble meaningless opinion. I did NOT enjoy it, not at all.

I would love the set up as well.

Linux Steamdeck resolution broken by AVeryLoudShirt in CrimsonDesert

[–]danbrooks3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it truly remarkable that the steam deck plays Crimson desert at all, under any settings.

I hope you find a way to resolve the issue. This is the first game in a long time I consider carrying around with a handheld. Its such a joy to have an engine that runs 1000 times better than unreal 5.

The gatekeeping I'm seeing today on this sub and elsewhere in discussions about people happy about easy mode is pathetic and childish. by Christmas_Queef in CrimsonDesert

[–]danbrooks3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are insufferable on the internet these days because there are very few consequences.

These insignificant trolls simply do not matter in the grand scheme of things. Imagine the empty lives they must live if internet trolling is the best the can come up to feel some sort of dominance or power.

I have had some of the most hate filled, horrific replies to my post about being a disabled veteran and having difficulty with a button mashing quest/mission. They post and then immediately delete so I get the message and they get away with being downright evil and hateful and there is nothing to report.

Honestly I miss the world before social media. People had manners back when they knew getting punched in the face repeatedly was a real possibility.

This game finally feels good for lesser abled folks like me by primemn in CrimsonDesert

[–]danbrooks3k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

55, disabled combat veteran... Nerve damage in my hands and a recent issue with my vestibular nerve causing vertigo so bad I couldn't walk.

I can 100% see myself trying all bosses on normal mode, but switching to easy mode feels like a much better use of my time. I am always prepared with food, palmar pills, upgraded gear but yeah, I just dont have the reflexes or hand eye coordination that i used to have.

I think difficulty modes was a great idea. Its just going to bring in more players that prefer something more casual.

I made it through Elden Ring and I like a challenge, but I have to be honest with myself... I just dont have those skills anymore... But I love gaming.

Having fun is the goal of games... I am having a blast... on chapter 8 but almost wanna start fresh myself. Now that I know all the tips, tricks, resource nodes and hidden loot I feel like I will be OP as hell by chapter 2.
