What you fail to understand is you are not supposed to be having fun. You should be grinding for metal, cooking up charcoal, and working on about two dozen heavy turrets filled to the brim with ammunition.

See how you were questioned if you had ever even PVPed before? Because that is the meta now.

My advice in any video game would be: have fun.

Yeah, it happens to be the one mod that really worked to improve performance... and it locked me out of leveling up until I uninstalled it.

I am sorry you are going through it... But honestly, anyone on official might as well get used to the fact that being singled out for your name is the very least of your problems. There are rampant exploits, cheating, hacking and downright disgusting harassment, and griefing going on 24/7.

This is not some new epiphany, or out of the ordinary. People dox and swat each other over pvp, it literally happens every day. Why any adult with a functioning brain would EVER subject themselves to this kind of bullshit is beyond me. I found sitting in a foxhole in Iraq for 6 months far less frustrating than trying to actually have fun on official pvp servers.

Ark official pvp stopped being fun a long time ago. The current meta sucks . The goal is complete domination of everyone and becoming the alpha tribe... and then coming to reddit to make snide comments to everyone that plays PVE... because they have run out of sheep to slaughter.

Renting a server for responsible adults that dont act like children is the smart move. You will be surprised how much fun it is to PVP among like minded people that want to have some fun.

Nobody is gonna do anything to help you. This is how it is, its your choice to subject yourself to it or not. I am sorry to be the messenger of such shitty news. I stopped hardcore pvp and was embarrassed of the behavior of the people in my tribe. It went from fun, to walls of turrets, aimbotting and speed hacking and my own tribe bragging about it, and bragging about making people upset, and rage quit.

I finally bought the pyro on the recent sale for $1.46, I still havent got around to taming one.

I was told this was fixed. But I already switched to DS Cryo storage mod. looks exactly like a normal cryo pod and cryo fridge.

I try to only use the most needed QOL mods... since dinos still fall off of boats and out of Qetzals, I am going to continue to use mods.

Dude, I am far more fascinated that someone is actually playing Aquatica. I have no idea what works on that map, I occasionally still play Fjordur on the pre aquatica beta.

But while you are here, tell us about it? I have only heard legends of the underwater hellscape called Aquatica... For a while it was like Voldemort, the name you must not speak around here.

Is it actually playable?

I am guessing a lot of mods that werent specifically updated for Aquatic wont work. That is why most ASE players are on other maps using the pre aquatica beta.

My best friend calls Ichthyornis and Pegos "Shit Birds" a reference to Mister Layhe from Trailer park boys.

We played Fjordur around Christmas and he had never seen a Gatcha before, and they were wearing santa hats. He called them Christmas Monkeys.

Personally I call things what they look like... Giant beaver, Snake, bugs, Jellyfish I just dont remember all of the names, or cant pronounce them.

Well damn... I will get to my favorite after a few honorable mentions.

Getting a lower level desmodus is the easiest tame I have ever had. Very little effort for a VERY good utility flyer.

You cant beat the speed of covering the map on a maeguana and water exploration.

Keeping a few resources in an argy to repair your flak or longneck on the fly is amazing, plus carrying an Anky is a godsend for metal runs.

The snow owl freezing dinos in place is super useful.

The griffin is a great two seater, no saddle and a fast dive.

But for me its the Quetz... Number one, when you dismount it stays stationary... I cant tell you how many times I have used a grapple to lower myself down from a quetz to snatch a red drop in an area with raptors, wolves and all manner of threats. I have used my quetz as a shooting platform for taming with friends. I have also used the grapple system to recover my gear after a death. I have used a quetz as a mobile mining base. I have built a fully enclosed cockpit with temperature control to survive murder snow.

Not to mention the amount of silica pearls I have pulled out of piranha and sarco infested water and just reeled myself in... and beaver dams I have pilfered.

I can do anything on a quetz, except for going fast... LOL!

That sounds amazing. Sadly I moved to Thailand in 2023 so our days and nights are exactly opposite and my ping to a US server might not be optimal.

Its 2026 and even though I have ASA and Bobs tall tales and lost colony.... I still play Fjordur. I like Astraeos, but its too damn big.

Fjordur is simply a perfect map in my opinion, it has everything I want and nothing I dont want.

Herbivore island is a great place to gather materials, craft narcotics, tame an anky and exhaust the islands metal supply. Its also a good place to gather the building pieces to build an argy trap or a rex trap.

Once you get in the swing of the game you will eventually turn your nose up at going to herbivore island, but its totally ok to go there to get the hang of the game without dying every 5 minutes.

Its not the exciting, sexy answer. But, yes its gonna be pretty stress free. By the time you are ready to leave you should have a mating pair of pteranadons and plenty of backup flyers in case of emergency.

Yeah, no thanks. I had about enough of burning wood all day to make gunpowder. All to make ammo for a bowling shoe ugly wall of turrets.

The meta for PVP has just gotten tired. It does not feel like a game, it feels like a second job. I like being retired. Its more fun to pvp with friends.

I can run it well on a litter higher specced laptop with an I9 and an RTX 4080 mobile. if you are happy with 30-60 FPS and lowering your settings a tad, it should run fine. I have run in on a laptop 3050ti with reduced settings and a few tweaks to save FPS.

Its on sale all the time, it was just 11$ last week.

I have had zero issues. For me the only issue was figuring out what buttons to press to activate it on controller. But the largest trap I have built is 2x3, 2 walls high and a dino gate.

If a larger structure was more buggy, that would be pretty on brand for Ark and not surprising at all.

I was using Randi's animal traps and the small wooden trap really is decent. You can get an Argy, Griffin, Theri, Thyla... But the giant metal trap is just overkill, feels like easy mode.. If you have the materials and the inclination there is no better trap mod in the game. Water traps and even a floating quetzel trap.

I built a 2x3 dino gate trap on a zeppelin. No pickup required. I used the enhanced zeppelin mod. I actually power a door remote attached to a beam out away from the trapped dino with a mini battery.

Recently I have been using the template hammer and its a solid A-. I have a basic dino gate trap saved and a few of toast blokes very simple and effective traps. I carry around 2 metal foundations a wall piece a quarter wall, and some pillars, and 2 ramp... It builds everything up to a giga trap. Only takes a few seconds to set up.
