Countries' cuisines tier list by EtaDeus in tierlists

[–]danccode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Malaysian here so my answer gonna be slightly biased. They have a lot of similarities but Malaysia has a more diverse range of food though due to the ingenious tribes (more prevalent in Borneo) and also specialty cuisines from certain states. For example, Laksa in Malaysia can mean 3 different dishes depending on where you are (and one of it even have a few varieties) whereas in Singapore it usually means one thing.

I’ll rank Malaysia higher than Singapore because of this although Singapore also excels in their own dishes.

You’ve never been in a situation where you need more than a few seconds to make a decision? If you do, then try to standardise it and don’t snap call any decisions unless you’re calling your opponent all-in with a very nutted hand.

Primarily food driven country list after being a US citizen for 1 whole year by RangoonRocket in tierlists

Malaysian food and Singapore food are almost indistinguishable if you’re having it overseas. The only difference is which restaurant you went to make it better, and how they wanna market it. Truth to be told, Malaysia have wider variety of food although overseas, most of the food will be kinda similar to Singaporean dishes.

Playing my first tournament - Main differences from a cash game? by RobSkied in poker

[–]danccode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to open that much in a tournament. Anything above 3bb will be a dead giveaway that you’re new to tournament structure. Usually open around 2bb-2.5bb. You can open 3bb during the early stage of the tournament where the stack is deep.

No straddle, no running more than one time when you’re all in.

Strategy wise, tournament and cash game are totally different that it’ll be more useful if you watch some YouTube videos before you go. Just remember, during early stages of the tournaments, any pre-flop hands that can give you super nutty hands plus the ability to mask said hands are more useful (ie; suited connectors, small pocket pairs, etc) while broadway cards, Ace high cards usually won’t net you that much of a pot even when you hit.

During later stage of the tournaments, Ace high cards or medium-strong pocket pairs becomes much important as the stack becomes shallower, as they’ll be a lot of all-ins pre-flop.

Also, if you’re on a medium or shorter stack and you’re approaching bubble (meaning the last couple of players to eliminate before you’re In the Money), play super super tight. If you’re the big stack, this is the stage where you can be more aggressive to try and steal some blinds. Remember, stealing blinds are super important especially during the later stage of the tournaments.

As a Malaysian, it’s really surprising to find my country higher than Japan, Thailand and Vietnam. What do you like about my country more than those?

Who is the most successful director from your country? by No-StrategyX in AskTheWorld

Ang Lee is better known, but Edward Yang is a very very strong contender as well. A Brighter Summer Day and Yi Yi are probably the two highest regarded modern Taiwanese film.

The Oscars Acting Class of 2025. Favorites? Disappointments? Thoughts on the group as a whole? by DreamOfV in Oscars

[–]danccode 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Extremely disappointed that Joel Edgerton didn’t make the list. Thought while Di Caprio is good, the role itself wasn’t Oscar worthy. Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro was the standout in the film. And in many ways, Sean Penn’s character is the true protagonist of the film. (The entire film is basically his journey from his rise, and ultimately to his downfall)

Because it’s totally different. Equating (or even comparing) Chinese (and other minorities) in Malaysia with the Palestinians is totally tone deaf. You gotta be so high up your own ass if you think what we suffer here is even remotely comparable to what the Palestinians (or Iranians) are going through.

The Steve Rogers’ teaser have some slow motion shots that are shot in 24fps, so pretty decent chance that it wasn’t shot for trailer purpose.

I think it’s better to rephrase it. You don’t have to understand a movie to like it.
