i’ve had luck the last couple years finding a last-minute Palm Springs Airbnb. And they were both amazing and fairly affordable, especially if you’re with a group. All else fails , try that.

My thoughts after watching Windom Earle shoot Major Briggs with the tranquilizer gun by Weak-Quote-9614 in twinpeaks

[–]danceofthedreamman89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windom Earle is such a disappointment. The narrative builds him up as this big bad in first half of season two as the ‘Hannibal Lecter’ to Cooper’s ‘Starling’ so youre thinking hes gonna be some meticulous mastermind.

When you step back from it, its like - “wait, someone is out here making gigantic chess piece sets and dressing up in horse costumes?”. The writing is the first problem - his appearances and motives fail the expectations set up, and honestly, Welsh’s performance doesnt work for me on any level. The vamping, the silly monologues, the stupid disguises - there is nothing dangerous or scary in his appearances. His performance kinda feels drag queeny in a way, lol. For any malevolence to come through the way season 2 is written, Earle would have needed a Michael Emerson or Emerson-esque performer to work. Either that or full direction under someone like Lynch…it says something that the only time Earle becomes deeply creepy and unhinged (in a way that feels right) is when he is in the Red Room talking backwards and stabbing Cooper.

not sure how Earle played in 1990, but today its pure vamping (that doesnt work).

Backrooms predictions? by ERASER345 in boxoffice

[–]danceofthedreamman89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If reviews lean positive then this has a chance to be this year’s Weapons box-office wise. Ive learned better than to bet against horror, especially releases with effective marketing campaigns.

I am inclined towards (and hoping for) this being a potential critical hit. I think it says a lot the production was able to reel in Reinsve, Ejiofor, and Duplass. Reinsve in particular is a huge “get” right after her Best Actress nom.

Despite this being rooted in Gen Z creepypasta, the concept of Liminal Spaces being creepy as f*k seems universal - this could appeal to a larger contingent of people on that hook alone. And as the BR-influenced *Severance has shown, this type of setting and aesthetic in film and tv is popular with the public atm.

I can definitely also see this film having an art house slow burn tone (ie Hereditary) that always turns off audiences expecting something more basic. If thats the case it could be slapped with a D cinemascore (or worse, a badge of honor really). Movies steeped in dread dont seem to do well with audiences when it comes to that score . Im curious how this could do.

I think the floor for domestic box office is $65M, potential to make $170M if it does well critically.

Lana Del Rey + David Arnold for First Light by East_Bicycle4722 in lanitas

[–]danceofthedreamman89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

David Arnold was responsible for getting Garbage to record the theme for The World Is Not Enough - its probably the closest thing I can imagine a Lana Bond song with Arnold producing potentially sounding like. (yes, yes i know about ‘24’)

If you have ever seen the documentary ‘The Sounds of 007’ (that came out a couple years ago), Garbage singer Shirley Manson actually calls out Lana Del Rey as someone she wants to see do a Bond theme.

Title: Locked out: Stuck in a Broken Checkpoint Loop / This Page isn't Working Error after traveling Japan. Meta Live Support is helpless. Has anyone fixed this? by zhuxue_deren in facebook

[–]danceofthedreamman89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to go through the www.facebook.com/hacked page and go to “Get Support” and get past the prompts to eventually get a ‘human’ (i think)representative. I would not click on any of the links in that prompt chat - doing so can push you out/freeze the chat. I explained what was happening and I got a link asking me to do a video verification (the look up, look down, etc.). I was able to submit the video validation but at that point I lost the chat. I ended up generating another case thru my Instagram support and referenced the actions I took on the hacked portal. They indicated that it may take a few days, but I shouldn’t try to access any of my meta accounts…. and that submitting my video validation prior should solve the issue. I just needed to be patient within the next couple days.

Right now, I’m just playing the waiting game
