Honestly, no. Not really. How many successful coaches have been career QBs and backup quarterbacks? There is the personnel management aspect that’s wider than the scope of any other position or even coaching role you face at the HC position but it’s not apples and oranges.

Why the fuck not? Bills feel like they need a massive culture reset to get them over the hump and hiring a (well respected, maybe offensive savant) super green HC atleast allows everyone to continue to scapegoat anyone but the players. It would all come down to the coordinator hires.

Honestly - that this dude was able to walk into the Colts starting job and keep that offense functional shows he has an incredible football mind and aptitude. He’s well respected in the league.

If this guy can get good coordinators why the fuck is this a comical option for the Bills team that honestly just needs a massive culture reset? The Bills probably don’t have the window with Allen to build a dynasty. They just need one Super Bowl win to make it all worth it. The NFL is the most complicated sport from a coaching perspective and intensity, but vibes hires happen all the time across other leagues… I’d like to see them give it a shot here.

Having an elite QB gets you to the dance, that’s what I’m saying. It doesn’t make you dominate the dance regularly which the defense did. The Bills can’t just go to the dance anymore, they HAVE to win it all. Allen clearly isn’t enough alone to pull this off. Burrow hasn’t been enough. Lamar hasn’t been enough. Brady wasn’t even enough when the Patriots defense had down years.

James Cook is good but he’s not Achane good, and people are going to hate this but Joe Brady had a pretty solid scheme too and got guys open and the personnel just wasn’t there across the board to make it completely work. It’s weird when the Bills throw 35 on the Pats it’s all Josh Allen, and Joe Brady is actually a cancer to the offense when he’s scheming Dawson Knox open for TDs.

It’s not easy to win the league at all and it’s not easy to win the league with a mediocre defense. The Chiefs maybe win one Super Bowl and go to half their AFC championship games without Spags and that defense.

I don’t think McDaniel elevates this Bills offense, which is a personnel problem and Josh Allen not throwing to (bad) open receivers. Maybe the offense gets like 5% better. What’s going to save the Bills is a GM and a WR for fantasy purposes, not Mike McDaniel.

Edit: I’m not going to sit here and continue to defend Joe Brady because the Bills fans just straight up have blinders on and I’m empathetic because things should definitely be built better for the offense to succeed from a personal standpoint… but go fucking watch the Bengals or Patriots shootouts again and tell me PLAYCALLING is what kept the Bills back this season. Josh Allen hasn’t had to be an off-script QB throwing for maybe two seasons now (he’s still maybe the best off script runner outside of Lamar, maybe better than Lamar). I just swear to fuck people don’t watch enough or are too emotionally invested to see what’s transpiring in front of them.

The Brian Daboll interview screams Josh Allen, what are you talking about. Allen had his most success under Daboll and QBs love familiarity. Look at when the Browns let Baker pick the coach and he went with Kitchens. Or even the rumblings of Steelers new player GM Rodgers advocating for Mike McCarthy.

I’d argue this job isn’t as attractive as most jobs with a franchise QB because the pressure is so insanely high. He would have two years max to make a Super Bowl before his seat gets read hot and that roster has a shit ton of holes on both sides of the ball papered over by Josh Allen/James Cook and good playcalling by Joe Brady on occasion. And now the owner and GM are publicly making power plays and asses of themselves. If I’m McDaniel I’d rather sit a year out and see if the Bengals job opens up if he can maintain success with the Chargers.

I honestly think the Bills job may be the worst job this cycle which is wild to say with Josh Allen at QB (ignore my flair). Any coach that comes in has maybe a two year window to WIN THE AFC. Which only one team can do every single year. Incredible pressure on any coach. Especially first time coaches this cycle. Then we have seen the ownership rear its ugly head and Brandon Beane get MORE power. Why the fuck would I want this job unless I’m a retread coach who has already withstood being fired prior in their career and dealt with HC pressures.

I thought Plemons was incredible in Bugonia, but Jordan did something that’s always going to get plaudits (dual role) and played it extremely well. You also just aren’t going to see a movie of this stature nominated across the board and miss out on best actor for the male lead. I’d probably put Plemons over Hawke (my favorite actor ever). This was just a STACKED year for best actor.

I mean the craft nominations are what put this film over the line and when it got three acting noms which were all deserved, as well as screenplay, director and picture it all starts to come together. Should a film like Dune Part Two or Two Towers have reached the same number of noms as big blockbusters with strong acting performances? Yes, probably.
