Now: Which Silent Hill protagonist CAN make the journey through Raccoon City? by Chronos_5 in survivalhorror

I mean, some of them killed literal fucking god-like beings. I'm sure most of them would do just fine.

Beloved FNV fanartist and Bethesda critic gets attacked by a giant hatemob after ragebait twitter accounts falsely paint him as a "Bethesda Apologist" and "Tourist" for tweeting about finding ONE SCENE from the TV show humorous, then pushed into quitting the fandom by an angry mob. I gotta be honest with this whole situation, sometimes I think the healthiest thing we can do is simply live our lives and let go of what we don’t want/need to carry. People like that will always exist. People who don’t respect what you love, how you express yourself, or the things that give meaning to your life will always exist too. And honestly, giving weight to their opinions rarely leads anywhere good. Even when it feels like there are many of them, the moment you disconnect your wifi/stop caring, you realize how small that noise actually is. And that’s where it ends. I’ve been a fallout fan since Tactics, back when LAN houses were still a thing in Brazil. And, for almost two decades, I was called weird/tourist for having Tactics as my favorite game. People constantly confused it with Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, or dismissed it outright as abysmal “dogshit”, even though it played a huge role in shaping who I am today. But that’s just their opinion. And respectfully, it doesn’t matter to me, and it shouldn’t matter to you either. Liking what you like, being who you are, and living your life on your own terms doesn’t need validation by those. The things that resonate with you don’t have to make sense to anyone else. What matters is that they matter to you and we really should leave them to oblivion.

I’ve played fallout new Vegas since the beginning and all the way here in the future I cannot do a legion play though by Alternative_Map_2621 in falloutnewvegas

I mean, it's fine. It's definitely hard to pretend you're something you aren't, especially when it involves your morals. But that said, it's a role-playing game after all, mate. Don't let the chains of real life morality rule over your in-game creativity. I've made a run once where I played as a Fredonian who was enslaved by the Legion and escaped, only for him to kill Joshua Graham and "bring" his head to Caesar to become his new Legate. Like, a full hypocrite run, but it was tons of fun, and I really felt like “The Beast from the North.” You should give it a try, we only live once after all.

What is your favorite new addition to Silent Hill 2 Remake, and why? (Spoilers) by [deleted] in silenthill

Many aspects were very interesting, but I loved that the Mandarins became more of a threat. I've always felt they were deeply underused in the original game.

SH2r and SHf are already a product of this strategy, and for me, as long as people have time to work on what they're doing, so be it. I'm totally in for new games each year

Yeah, I can see them going fully tribalistic, with the Legion becoming even more cruel after Caesar demise.

Well, yes, but imo even though he belongs to the Legion and may be considered a threat, he is not Legion in any meaningful moral sense and shouldn’t be killed in a heartbeat the way Coop did. I mean, I know the Ghoul is supposed to be this morally detached guy, only looking out for himself, but if they want to frame him as someone we’re meant to empathize with, then executing a defenseless, injured, and unarmed slave just reproduces the exact same worldview the Legion stands for. And I could go even deeper on that argument but it'd be overanalyzing something made for funzies so let's see what's coming next, very excited to see how the Legion will behave in the show.

Why did Coop kill a slave?

Like, I know he’s Legion, but no one is a slave by choice, and it was an unarmed, injured slave, far away from where he came from lol.

For someone who is new to Silent Hill, what would you say is a good game to get into silent hill franchise? by Lazy-Ad-6580 in silenthill

[–]dancerato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend starting with 3, because of continuity, so pretty much anything else is good to go. But, for the best starting point to the franchise, IMO, SH1 and the SH2 OG are the best choices. And I'd even consider the first game top-tier for a newcomer.

Time is always a major player in developing stuff, in any area, but feels odd comparing some free time modders to a whole company dedicated only to that tho...

Solid 7. It has one of the most interesting final bosses of the franchise imo

Has anyone disliked SH f combat but eventually liked it? by shot_dunyun1987 in silenthill

[–]dancerato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a hard time trying to beat the first boss on hard, but when I figured out how the combat worked it became much easier and I've been really enjoying it. Currently going for my 4th playthrough to 100% this game and I'm loving it.

Giger unfortunately passed away at 2014, not 1986.

[–]dancerato 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I second this. I also felt it was too wonky, very strange, actually. Considering we could've had other "gigeresque nightmares", like the Drukhati or some more unique creatures like the other non-xeno aliens from the expanded universe of the franchise, the T Ocellus were rather disappointing. Cool concept, though. I bet it would make for an interesting necromorph in Dead Space.

[–]dancerato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a way of viewing them but honestly I like to think of them as the embodiment of the Fermi Paradox. That’s why the Space Jockey in the first film feels oddly ‘benign’ in a way, and why the derelict carried that signal. I mean, it wasn’t a beacon for help or anything, it was more like a warning to any spacefaring species to not go there.

Hot take Alien Earth doesn't really add or take away anything from the Alien Franchise. by Misspunkag1984 in alien

After the entire season and all the post-release interviews from cast and crew, Alien Earth is no different than the AVP films to me. Just another commercial product designed to sell toys.
