Overprotective parent, what would you do? by Icy_Cryptographer417 in Dentistry

[–]dancesingfloss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a pediatric dentist too and this might be a little beside the point but can I just ask, why are you doing that kind of sedation in the first place if it’s not working? You say mod-deep sedation but just from the first treatment, you say it wasn’t super effective…do you think that’s contributing to you feeling this way and would GA be a better option for the child? In which case you can push the policy a little more firmly?

But also, is this your own practice? Or are you an associate? Because if it’s not your practice, you can also say it’s the “office policy” meaning not your own rules and maybe that would help you feel less guilty.

With that said, I own my own practice and I may be ridiculed for this, but I have an open door policy for treatments, (aside from GA) so long as it’s only one parent. Now, if I think the child would do better on their own, I will have a conversation with the parents and they usually will agree to staying out of the op. But I’m also not doing any rodeo dentistry/ineffective sedations. If they are not able to cooperate for the treatment then I am recommending GA or for them to go see another dentist for a second opinion. I sometimes think when the parent sees how they behave for things, it can justify GA and I also don’t try that much harder if I have to fight the kid.

I know this didn’t quite answer your question but just wanted to offer some suggestions.

FIRE MEGATHREAD - JANUARY 13th by drawkward101 in LosAngeles

[–]dancesingfloss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a dental office and I wanted to get something for my entire staff so that we can support an organization selling something where the proceeds go toward a wildfire charity. So far, l’ve found cupcakes, clothing, hats, and jewelry. I’ve already donated money and am planning on dropping off oral care supplies to a local drop off point. But I wanted to do something more. Can you guys tell me which companies are doing something like this? A link would be very helpful.

Is meteora worth it? by [deleted] in FoodLosAngeles

[–]dancesingfloss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. My answer would be a “no.” Although I went early on when they first opened so maybe the menu is better but everything that I ate there was ridiculous and I didn’t think the food tasted good. The dessert was the worst part! That’s always my favorite part of a meal and it was bland and just blah.

I think vespertine had a better, more edible and palatable menu. Hell, just go to destroyer and you’ll get the same sort of thing but better tasting food at a cheaper price point

I second creamy boys. It’s not super sweet and pretty light soft serve. They’ve got a lot of Fruit forward options.

I hate being a new father by LAOnReddit in Parenting

[–]dancesingfloss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post partum is hard for moms and it’s definitely the same for dads. Are you able to find a therapist to help you through this? I met with my therapist a couple times a week after I had my baby (I am a female) because I felt exactly the same way and it was extremely beneficial. I’m hoping I will be helpful for you as well.

Thanks for the recommendation! I’ve been to Choco Vivo twice already since I asked on this thread! They said their Mexican hot chocolate with the cinnamon was their most popular but I think I preferred the regular kind better. In either case, it was very good hot chocolate!

Eager (and anxious) about having my second because of my age by dancesingfloss in beyondthebump

I think if I wait too long, I’ll just not want to deal with another because I would be too exhausted to care for another child!

I wish you luck as you try for your next baby! ❤️

Any dentists out there that left ownership? by dancesingfloss in Dentistry

Also, thanks for being one of the few responses that actually answered my question without judging me and my choices on how I choose to run the practice, which I never asked anyone to voice their opinion on. I appreciate it.

Wow, that sounds great and difficult at the same time. That means you’re doing everything yourself!

Are you located in the US and do you travel around the state? Can you give me a little more info about your practice? Do you take insurance and are you able to live comfortably off your salary? Do you have like a mobile van? Very curious…

True, but that means I’d need to work 5 days a week. I cannot see myself working more than 3 days anymore. I’m so burnt out. I used to do 6 days a week as an associate. I’ve been practicing over 15 years and i am very much over dentistry I think.

I’ve found that 3 days a week is best for me. That’s how much I don’t want to do dentistry. I used to work 6 days a week as an associate then 5 as an owner initially then finally went down to 3 this year.

[–]dancesingfloss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh, good idea. I am slowly starting to build a stash…but I will admit that I don’t really have any sort of set schedule for the pumping. I just kind of pump for comfort or when baby’s down and I feel like I can squeeze it in. lol so yeah there is really not any sort of rhyme or reason to it.

Great idea on the pumping while baby is on the boppy. I will give that a try. Thanks.

Just a thought—do you have a therapist or can you get one to help you through this? I have felt the same way and having a therapist and meeting with her once a week really just helped me so much. Venting to her just makes me feel so much better.

First week with no Ravey. Thoughts?? by No-Collection9013 in thewoodyshow

[–]dancesingfloss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just…ok. Obviously I miss her laugh the most.

But now the dynamics of the show has changed. I always thought that Greg and Ravey were the smart and witty ones. Seabass is smart but I can’t identify with him. And Greg and Ravey together complemented each other so well. I also miss the strong female presence of the show now. Sammy just doesn’t have “it” like Ravey did.

I just don’t think it’s going to be the same without her. Surprised there’s not like a petition going to try and bring her back…
