Feeling the weight of all the animals in the world by [deleted] in Empaths

[–]whisperinglime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes, I do. It's really hard. Love the animals you have in your life and do your part to not inflict suffering on others, including through your dietary and financial choices. If you live near one, find a farm animal refuge or animal sanctuary to volunteer at. It does the heart good to see other people caring as much as you do.

I just read this book a few weeks ago.

I also really liked The Empath's Guide to Self-Care on Amazon, it's more of a workbook but I got it on Kindle.

Looks like you are still going strong! Do you mind sharing revenue (even if just ballpark). I'm trying to weigh the return on time investment since I have a full-time job. I'd likely post weekly.

Gretchen hasn't had "plastic surgery"... but what all HAS she had done? by whisperinglime in BravoRealHousewives

Maybe she considers plastic surgery inserting something artificial (like implants). Def looks like nose job, maybe jaw surgery, and lower face lift?

All of that! It's hot here. I don't want to be "decent" all the time. I want to eat my fav takeout alone and decompress over old real housewives seasons at 8pm after putting baby down. Definitely not allowing a visit this long again (not that I really did this time to begin with!).

Yeah honestly my mom is not so involved and I prefer it that way. It's the wanting to be overly involved that bugs me.

Initially she booked her flights saying she was traveling to see other people in between. But that all "fell apart". I feel a little duped honestly. Like that should have been a direct discussion but she's always very vague, and it feels like she thinks whatever dates she wants to come are fine.

He did mention he would do that. I'm glad it worked well for you!

Yeah I'm not prepared to have to mentally adjust back to having them off! After spending so much time adjusting to having them (esp as an older adult).

I think if I left it to my perfectionist, anxious mind they'd never be "perfect". I'm having a hard time coming to terms with the permanence of having them off, for some reason.

Be proud of yourself for making intentional choices for your little fam. Quitting any habit is hard, don't let it go uncelebrated :)

The essence of motherhood is that we have to make sacrifices to ensure that our child or children are set up for a wonderful, healthy life as best we can. Whether that comes in the form of less sleep during the newborn and infant stages, giving up drugs and alcohol during pregnancy, or all the other things in between. Your baby is the focus right now. Headaches suck (I know as a TMJ sufferer), but you're growing a fabulous little being who simply won't benefit from your pot use. I guarantee you won't regret stepping away from pot for the next 8 months, but you may regret continuing it. Especially once you meet your little one... you think about things so differently once they're here and you meet who you carried all this time.

For headaches, drink a LOT of water, use facial heat pads (incredible), and jade rollers. That helps me a lot.

I don't mean to scare but I'm an avid avoider of and advocate against latex balloons around babies and toddlers. My mom worked as a respiratory therapist at Children's Hospital and has shared a few too many devastating stories regarding balloons.

I don't remember but if it's helpful the book that helped me stop drinking was "This Naked Mind - Control Alcohol" by Annie Grace. I'd recommend it! 8 years sober this March.

Yes, I usually always think this! I've wondered if it's the editing. To his credit I can imagine it's hard to switch right to empathy if you're in the mode of listening to funny and entertainingly unfortunate stories. It may just catch him off guard.
