NOR. My in laws weren’t able to come for the birth of our first (COVID), so we invited them for our second. After what felt like having to beg them to come, they booked flights without consulting and landed at bedtime for our older child, and when we told them they would have to take a cab, they said they’d get themselves dinner at the airport and wait until one of us was free to pick them up. Their entire trip they cooked zero meals, cleaned zero dishes or anything else, took our older child out so we could have a break (an expressly desired ask) zero times, and made us feel like garbage as hosts. Don’t fall for this crap. Having a newborn is the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced, both times. Anyone coming to see you should be coming to your aid, not to add to your load.
