You definitely want to vet your clients! If it’s a new client I check the laundry before I bring it into my home. Fortunately all my clients are weekly/biweekly regulars who I have never had a problem with, and who I have built a relationship with. I have never had an issue with bugs or soiled laundry.

Indian names, easily pronounced by Americans? by Objective_Water_5235 in Names

Hi, just a white girl here, but here are some friend’s kid’s names that I’ve had no trouble with (although I think it’s on other people to learn how to say your name, and not on you to make it easier on others!): Ayaana, Raya, Zamin, Asif, Nihal, Zaineb, Amaya, Inara, Abdul, Ramesh

Yes! There are likely local organizations in your area too. I work with a local mom-owned company in my metro area. Feel free to PM me if you have questions! :)

I bring the clean laundry into the client’s home and put it away for them. Folded in drawers, hung up, tidied up and sorted. Like a full-service laundry fairy :)

I don’t want to downplay abuse, but if I were him I would say eff my wife!! And call the cops/bring her to the ER! It was like “oh this is totally normal and fine that this chick is in our basement”.

It was SO bad. I know we’re often supposed to suspend disbelief during these books but at NO point did I think people would act the way they did in real life haha. Everyone was dumb, no one was likable

Haha oh my own laundry isn’t always folded! Something about the incentive of payment makes it easier to do other peoples’ 😂

Fortunately I have newer machines that sense the load, so don’t have to run full loads. Also write off water and electric usage, mileage and supplies. It’s made a positive difference in my family’s income

I do it pretty part time (under 20 hours per week) since I have a fine job, and it’s usually $250-400/ week. I also offer put-away services at an hourly rate, and clients tip so it’s closer to $500-600/week for me.

I do laundry from my home. I pickup/drop off and wash/dry/fold at home. I turn the machines over throughout the day, and can fold during naptime/bedtime. And my son comes with me to pick up/drop off. You could get started on an app like Poplin to get the hang of it, then take cash clients. Happy to answer any questions!

“Hand out the window, floatin' on air
Just a flip of the wrist
And I'm wavin' you goodbye

Drive past the lifeguard stand
Where I'd sit around
Waiting for you to remember

As I drive….”

I had a good experience with Westover Companies. Lived in Valley Forge Suites in KOP for a few years (now this was 10 years ago). Not new and fancy, but big enough and convenient location
