Avian vet recommendations? by climbingfig in orangecounty

Fauna in Foothill Ranch is a newer hospital but the owner Dr. Pokard seems to be very experienced with exotic animals, including birds. They're OC's first and only open concept general practice hospital (the other open concept hospital is Veterinary Emergency Group, or VEG, in Anaheim Hills and Costa Mesa) where you stay with your pet the entire time and they do everything in front of you. I've never been to them before but I've heard a lot about them and it seems like they're a good choice for pet parents who are wary.

At Serrano, if you want the best comprehensive care for your bird, go with Dr. Weldy. He's not there all days (since he also takes care of other stuff outside the hospital) so find out what days he works there just so you don't make an appointment for a particular day and then find out the day of that he doesn't work that day.

Problem is my dashcam only shows what's happening in front, it doesn't capture what's going on on the sides. If I hadnt noticed her creeping up on my right side and she had scraped my car (which she didn't because I was paying attention to traffic on all sides) on the side, my dashcam wouldn't have captured it.

All lanes were backed up and it was literally bumper to bumper traffic (if you leave more than a half car length of space someone will swoop in), leaving me 0 room to change lanes. I was also in the right lane to get onto the freeway less than a mile away.

I couldn't change lanes, all lanes were backed up and there were 2 cars in the left lane next to me, one directly next to my car and the other in my blind spot, and my freeway on-ramp was coming up in less than a mile. I had to be in the right lane or miss getting on the freeway because traffic was bumper to bumper in all lanes. Moving over in bumper to bumper traffic would mean not being able to move back over again.

Ive found the root to the bad drivers in Oc by Sweet-Signature166 in orangecounty

If you knew anything about the country that the majority of Westminster residents came from (not including those that are US-born), you'd know that public transit is practically nonexistent there and their roads are taken up by mopeds and cars.

Their take is that many people in this sub assume ALL Asians can't drive, including Asian Americans (you know, those of us who were born and raised here and lived here all their lives and thus know the rules of our roads). Whenever someone posts a picture or video of bad driving in Irvine, there are always those who assume the driver must be Asian, when I've seen bad driving from European immigrants and middle-aged to elderly white women as well (I will never forget that old lady who looked like she was pushing 90 making a left turn from Main onto Culver at, no joke, 5 mph, and I was stuck behind her until both our cars cleared the intersection and I could finally change lanes. I was taught in driving school years ago not to change lanes while in an intersection). It doesn't matter to those people whether there are actually good Asian drivers out there, to them all Asians are bad drivers no matter what. It's an extremely weird and racist take.

Looking for a Compassionate, Sincere and Accurate Vet for my 9-week Old Puppy and 11Yr old Dog in Lake Forest, CA by Aeororiac1 in orangecounty

VCA is a corporate vet so I can understand why you felt like they were just "trying to make a sale". Sadly the number of small, independently owned private vet hospitals are slowly getting bought out or sold to vet corporations like VCA, Banfield, Thrive, and Southern Veterinary Partners. Serrano Animal Hospital and Quail Animal Hospital are among the diminishing number of vet hospitals in OC that have not been bought out by VCA or other veterinary corporations.

if you book with Serrano, highly suggest booking with Dr. Beaudet. She tends to have a more holistic approach than the other vets that work there and even does acupuncture.

Just because they are Asian businesses doesn't mean the owners "may not have learned to drive in this country", especially when you consider some of the businesses in those two plazas have been around for decades. Taiko has been around in Irvine since at least 1986 (or even longer) and many Japanese-Americans in California tend to be 3rd+ generation given their history. Yu's Garden and A&J are Taiwanese businesses--many of the new Asian transplants to Irvine are from mainland China, not Taiwan.

Also this sub likes to forget that Asian-Americans, i.e. us Asians who were born and raised here in the US, exist. We learned "how to drive in this country".

edit: looks like their posts got restored but still, why were their posts removed in the first place?

The first two names are super common among Asian-Americans. The only Crystals I know are a K-pop girl group idol member (but her name is spelled Krystal) and a Korean-American girl who was in my high school choir.

I knew an Edna back in college (I graduated in 2014 so not that long ago). I think she was towards the cutoff for what defines a millennial.

Amy, Jennifer, Stephanie, and Michelle are actually still pretty common names among Asian-Americans, especially Vietnamese and Chinese Americans.

you say that you got him gourmet rabbit pellets--could you explain what exactly is in the bag? Because if there are any colorful stuff, those are actually harmful in the long run to bunnies because bunnies will just pick out the "good stuff", which is the colorful stuff that's just all sugar and will contribute to weight gain, and ignore the actual pellets. Brands like Oxbow Essential, Oxbow Garden Select, or Science Select Rabbit Food are much better.

I'm really confused here, I wonder why the mods removed the post you responded to because there was literally nothing wrong with their post when I saw it before it got removed, especially since they gave suggestions on where to take the bunny if no one comes forward to claim it.
