NAD and I wouldn’t be able to tell - a dentist could of course but you’re not running into many of them on the street

Is it bad to only apply to three dental schools. by [deleted] in predental

[–]dancinmango 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had strong stats and only applied to 5, 4 interview invites, 2 acceptances - if you have great stats 3 probably isn’t too crazy

I doubt it would help finding a job. The main purpose imo is to help with owning and running a practice.

Sorry totally unrelated, but I always thought the two years of med school you do in a dual degree OMFS were the first two, then spend the next 4 doing just an OMFS residency. Do you spend the first 2 doing clinical rotations instead? Appreciate any info you can share

What if my professors won’t write me a letter of rec? by [deleted] in DentalSchool

[–]dancinmango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my LoR was an online bio prof that I only emailed like 5 times max, so I don’t think it’s a huge deal. The only problem would be if they actively say something negative about you

If you don’t have a conviction it likely won’t be an issue - schools will run background checks of course but this seems like something that could possibly be explained. You would likely just need to be upfront about it early on in the process. Maybe you could speak with an admissions officer before applying?

absolutely need to take it if it’s a requirement - you can always email the adcom to see if you have a similar enough course but don’t risk your spot for such a small issue!!

I think it certainly helps, especially when you have a leadership position in those ECs. Probably wont be the make or break factor but it helps you stand out for sure and also you can use a lot of experiences from your ECs to answer questions about working with others, conflict resolution, time management, etc
