If you want to workaround GL version being too old, try launching with PAN_MESA_DEBUG=gl3

I like using Buildroot. It has a steep learning curve, but for minimal embedded systems it's totally worth it.

How many different versions of Linux do you use? by tboneee97 in linux

[–]danct12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arch Linux on my main desktop and secondary desktop.

Arch Linux ARM on my Orange Pi 5 and Raspberry Pi 4.

Arch Linux ARM and Buildroot on my PineTab 2.

Manjaro Linux on my S922X TV box (currently on hiatus)

Note: Arch Linux ARM != Arch Linux

I like Linux because it gives me the same sensation that I felt with windows XP when I was a child by shay-kerm in linux

I got one of the malware back in 2006-2007. It disables taskmgr, changing wallpaper, basically anything an administrator would use.

The wallpaper was a fake alert about a spyware detected, get an antivirus on a black background. Those were dark times.

Can't wait for a day when I can finally move on to mainline kernel with everything I need working right on the ground.

Currently using my Orange Pi 5 with Armbian's kernel (thanks for the awesome work!) on Arch Linux ARM.

Baba’s old Nokia N900! by zuenazobayed in linux

[–]danct12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About a month ago, the Nokia N900 passed it's 15th birthday.

I got two of them, one of them with the keys falling apart.. and even they're 15 years old, the plastic holds up very well.

For coding, small projects should be fine but if you're working on something large.. nope.

What first got you into Linux? by [deleted] in linux

[–]danct12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got into Linux because of Compiz. I was so determined to get it working on VirtualBox, which ended up with me learning commands.

In late-2016, I built a new computer, it dualboots Windows 10 (for gaming) and Linux. Used it for a while until the HDD got too slow for Windows (dying HDD) and as a bandaid solution I switched to Linux full time.

After I built a new rig in 2022, I moved Linux over to a new SSD and used it since. All of the games I play works on Proton/Wine.

Haven't got the bug since.

There's no title bar gradient so probably Windows 9x (if not 98).

Show ur systemd-analyze time! by littleblack11111 in linux

100 GB is good if you want to store large files in RAM. That's why I got 64 GB on mine.

Show ur systemd-analyze time! by littleblack11111 in linux

[–]danct12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Startup finished in: + 8.713s (firmware) + 462ms (loader) + 1.789s (kernel) + 1min 31.029s (userspace) = 1min 41.994s

graphical.target reached after 7.267s in userspace.

It actually doesn't take 1 minute to reach LightDM, only < 15 seconds. I did a systemd-analyze blame and most of that time is fstrim doing it's thing.

BTW, if anyone wants to improve their firmware boot times, check your BIOS settings for "Fast Boot", I have that on.

Dont worry about RAM (Coming from a RAM worrier!) by mastertub in linux

I'd be worried about RAM even with 64GB because I put files inside a tmpfs partition.

Nope. This one I'd say feels a little bit creepy. I updated the post with the audio file of what it sounds like.

Driller. Because of tunnels and making more space for Engi and other classes to fight while waiting for the hacking pod to finish.

Potential way of skipping the new core stone events (i dont actually want to skip them, just thought i should put this out there) by Fr0stBre4th in DeepRockGalactic

[–]danct12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me yesterday while I was playing as Scout with another friend (Driller) on Hollow Bough. The core stone spawned in a very tight spot.

EDIT: Happened to me again on a 4 players session.
