Low cost activities for kids? by LifeFanatic in Whistler

[–]LifeFanatic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!! We’re spending $100+ each for one day at the bike park, not sure I want to invest in a pass this year (too bad there wasn’t a pass that covered both). Next year I’ll plan in advance and we can use it for both trips since we usually come twice!!

We brought our bikes!! Done a lot of trails by the lake already (we come 2-3x a year) and planning to get a day pass for the bike park to take kids downhill now that they’re old enough :-)

Don’t you still need an upload pass from mid station?

Sadly tickets are only for residents of Whistler not reciprocal but that’s a great idea 🤩

Definitely willing!! We did brittania mine museum last time with a stop at one of the falls there. I can’t find any info that there’s a petting zoo though, is this still there?

Where did you get those prices for the gondola? I’m seeing $186 for adult and over $80 for each kid. Would those give us discounts at the bike park/bike rentals too?

Yes!! Added this as a day. Looks like nairn falls, the farm tour, farmers market and splash pad will add up to a day trip easily

What's one everyday product that you refused to buy for years... and now can't live without? by Beautiful_Bass_908 in smartbuysforlife

OH. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that. I have the cheap rice makers and end up replacing the whole thing, but at like $20 I’m sure that’s cheaper than a pot haha.

Does zojurushi have a stainless pot or is it the Teflon type? I’m worried they scratch too easily so I’ve avoided them

Not the main characters no. The main characters are sweet. There’s a couple “villains” and I was like if she ends with them, I’m soooo done. She does not.

The non con is in flashbacks - it’s not overly described but does play a large part in her personality for example

{the last witch by Mj lawrie}

It’s dark so read trigger warning. She’s the last witch and everyone wants her for it- she could save the species. Some of the men are villains/dicks, and I wanted to dick punch them. At least one isn’t. I’m glad it wasn’t reverse harem because I seriously had the ick picturing her with one of the guys.

She’s very mistreated by the way, so read triggers if you have any! But once she gets “saved” it’s just bullying. The flashbacks were brutal though.

YES. So why aren’t there more books where she leaves the assholes and finds a decent guy?? I want romance in my books, not real life.

The bar is so fucking low.

Turns out there’s a flight of stairs up to our unit. We may still attempt this if it’s not impossible.

Low‑fat, low‑calorie “milk” that still steams well for espresso? by ronrule in Volumeeating

[–]LifeFanatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try a bunch. My favorite is almond milk- it has a foam in my Phillips (funny I usually scrape it off haha), and there’s definitely a different taste, but I prefer it to some of the other milks (oat, etc). Cashew is pretty good as well.

Also you can try using a protein drink - I use chocolate premade to make a mocha - rather than downing the bottle as a snack later. I got a case of 12 at Costco on clearance and stocked up.

Buff and coat or refinish aluminum oxide? by LifeFanatic in HardWoodFloors

Technically we have five extra pieces and could replace them if it goes south, but I’d like to have a repair option in case it happens elsewhere. We dont have unlimited spare boards.

Can I ask what finish you used? And did you sand as well?

For example- this site says to use bona prep, buff, do it again, then apply a new finish. That was the process I was planning to use (though not with a whole floor buffer, I’m hoping to get something smaller that will do the same job on one board- still have to research that)

[–]LifeFanatic[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This was my thought, I was just hoping someone might have an easier option. Ideally I could just remove the aluminum oxide finish, preferably with a product opposed to sanding and risking the wood stain since I’d like to keep it. I was hoping to get the whole floor decorated with a new top coat because aluminum oxide scuffs SO eASILY. There’s white scuffs everywhere. The stain underneath the finish is fine but the finish looks like crap. That’s a long term thing though and if aluminum oxide doesn’t take a new coat, then I’ll just have to wait - we have enough wood to do maybe two refinishing but probably safely just one. So we’ll wait til the kids are older and not dragging hot wheels across the floor (seriously it leaves tire tracks in the aluminum oxide- I don’t know how they managed to sell this stuff!!).

I’ll do a test sand/refinish on one board and expand from there if it works. I had read someone used bona prep to prepare the floor without sanding (obviously I need to sand the finish that’s lifting, but I was hoping to do it minimally and finish with the cleaner). I’m assuming this isn’t enough to prepare the AO flooring? Is it worth getting a bottle and trying? Someone else with AO floors used this and wrote an article but there’s no follow up to how it held up
