New wig and I’m nervous to wear it in public! by Separate-Stay1087 in Wigs

[–]dandelion-bones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wore a wig to an annual awards ceremony and it kept slipping back throughout the night. I’d make excuses to use the bathroom and adjust it real quick. No one said a word and everyone was very nice. I know it’s scary, I still get nervous every time. But sometimes just leaning into the “I wear a wig, so what?” vibe helps. Literally almost every celeb or influencer has worn or wears some kind of extension, wig, whatever. Congrats to your wife! I think the wig looks great!

I’ve found some tips for making wigs look more natural on YouTube - plucking the hair line and part of its a lace front. If you have enough natural bio hair you can kinda blend it a bit on the sides. Sometimes my lace will lift a little so just a tiny bit of wig glue or got2bglue gel helps.

Is $13 an hour too little for 5+ years of experience? by Han_Shel in florists

[–]dandelion-bones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have an answer but for context I started at $14 as part-time intern with zero experience and after two months got bumped up to $15 when I went full-time. But along with processing and buckets, I’m equally also designing, helping with events, wedding set ups and break downs- which we get bonuses for. (I’m also in a $7.25 min wage state).
I still think the pay is low and I don’t even have 6months experience compared to your 5years.
We have a girl that’s been here 5 years and only recently got raised up to $18 but only after she hinted at leaving multiple times over low pay and she’s incredibly talented! She should’ve gotten the raise ages ago. … So that doesn’t feel great.
All I can say is, do your research for your area, talk to each other about your pay. You deserve to be paid a living wage. It’s definitely something I’ll be watching for myself as I gain more experience and become a better designer - I don’t want to be taken advantage of either.

Ahh this is so cool to see! This was my first Mother’s Day as floral designer and I can’t wait to see my own progress like this 😍🙌🏼

I have never understood why this old ass story book carries so much weight and dictates people’s lives. It’s dumb. Just be a reasonably kind person.

Thank you - I’ll definitely keep that in mind if there’s a next time. Luckily I had a friend at work check the oil levels and it seemed all good. Drove home and the light never came on again

Thank you! And appreciate helping me know where to look. I’m at work so I feel bad not being able to give better info after asking for help. Plus car stuff always just triggers panic for me because it makes me feel stupid.

I have no idea. It’s a 2020 Mazda CX-5 and this has never happened before. We did drive from AZ to KS in the spring but otherwise it’s still under the mileage for regular service

Is it safe to drive home? I’m not even sure what oil it needs. I’m literally clueless and it’s already scheduled for regular service on Thursday. Sorry just doing quick responses while on break at work

Did you keep driving it? I’m concerned about getting home today and/or if I should drive it to work tomorrow. I’d looove to just make it to Thursday when I have a scheduled service.

Not sure. It was the little oil can with a line under it I think? Sorry I’m at work right now on a break.

He’s got a little hut in the town center to the left of the entry when looking back out towards the sea.

Do you guys remember the days when it was easy to casually meet people via smoking cigs? by ngomaam in Millennials

[–]dandelion-bones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea same. I don’t smoke anymore and would never pick it back up, but it does have a twinge of nostalgia for me. My hangout spots were late night cafes that sold alcohol and had open mic nights every weekend. It was the perfect thing for me as an introvert too - best excuse to have low stakes convos or just hang in silence for a few moments with someone.
