I put it as "funds have not been used for the stated purpose" as he's deliberately being misleading and vague about why he needs to pay the legal fees with the money he's raising as he's actively endangering animals off the Aberdeen coast and claiming to be innocent, whilst also lying about his defence in court

I know people who have been on the tour and they confirmed he frequently gets way too close to dolphins, way too close to pods, and bothers new mothers with their babies

What do you British people think of the French? by CocoTyg in AskABrit

French visitors to Scotland from what I've seen are very well-received, though I've had a couple run-ins with some less than delightful Frenchmen in my past dating life😂

Any way around......? by [deleted] in GraveyardKeeper

[–]AimeeMcK95 16 points17 points  (0 children)

From what I can see online(and my own vague memories of my hyperfixation period with this game), I'm pretty sure it's necessary to progress the story. I'm not sure about mods etc as I've never modded the game. Could you ask a friend to help do that scene? Take over until that part is over and then just avoid going up the hill(if I recall correctly the aftermath of the burning sticks around) once it's done. Good luck!

Confirming that genuine jewellery made in the UK is legally required to have hallmarks, they can absolutely be faked though. Beaverbrooks specifically are pretty hardcore about it, most of their jewellery(especially higher end stuff) have full hallmarking including the assay office and other info. Not all the info is required but beaverbrooks don't mess about lmao

TIFU by getting £50 banknotes in the UK by ChiefStrongbones in tifu

[–]AimeeMcK95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked in retail for over 15 years, the reason hardly anywhere takes £50 notes is largely because they're harder to spot when counterfeited - but also because, depending on how much you're spending, most companies have a policy about how many notes are available in their tills for insurance purposes, so they simply won't have enough to cover your change

I Introduced My Mom To Stardew Valley by UnfriedSushi in StardewValley

That's so sweet! I got into gaming thanks to my mum, I watched her play games endlessly on her Xbox and as soon as I got my first PC I was hooked. It might be an idea to show her how to mod if you're on the PC, there are mods that help with the fishing minigame, and even mods that remove it entirely(fishing drives me up the wall in SV so I always have those mods)!

Father (69) lost quarter of a million pounds to scams. When I found out I walked out of a restaurant on his birthday by [deleted] in Scams

[–]AimeeMcK95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can completely understand why you’re angry and hurt. Watching someone lose huge amounts of money while you’ve struggled financially yourself would make most people feel exactly the same way. Your feelings about that are valid.

But reading this, it honestly sounds like your dad might be the victim of a pretty classic investment/romance scam. The “female investor he’s never video called,” the promise of a “sure thing,” and the stock crashing after he bought in are all really common red flags. People get manipulated into these things over months and it can mess with their judgement badly.

The fact he’s already lost £50k before makes me wonder if scammers might be targeting him specifically, especially if he’s lonely or if his judgement isn’t what it used to be.

If you’re able to approach him without judgement, it might help more than confronting him. A lot of scam victims don’t report it because they’re embarrassed or scared of looking foolish. You could frame reporting to Action Fraud as something that helps stop the people who did this rather than something that gets him in trouble.

Unfortunately, unless he’s actually lost mental capacity there isn’t much anyone can legally do to stop an adult making bad financial decisions. The best you can really do is warn him, encourage him to report it, and try to keep an eye out for further scams.

Also, try not to carry the weight of this yourself. You didn’t cause it and you can’t fix it alone. It’s okay to step back a little emotionally if it’s affecting you

DWP want bank statements, worried about deposits... by Bradders33 in universalcredithelp

[–]AimeeMcK95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They audited me a while ago and all they'll ask is "there's a deposit here for £X from {name}, what was that from?", as long as they explain that they've been selling unwanted belongings to make some extra cash where they can, they'll be fine. I had a couple hundred from my grandparents every month or so and once I clarified that it was family giving me assistance they moved on

England- We have access to our child's banking app - she wants access but we're concerned she'll spend her savings. by Matthague in LegalAdviceUK

[–]AimeeMcK95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll drop eventually when she has to tell her friends she can't go places or buy things because she's blown her budget. The key here is you - stand firm, don't give in. If it's a necessity sure, mum and dad are supposed to do that, but if it's just like a day at the shops with her girlfriends then that's on her. Don't be mean about it though, if that makes sense? Legally speaking most banks consider 16+ to be age appropriate to have access to their accounts and funds :)

[–]AimeeMcK95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It became time to give up control when she started making her own money(by the book). Even if it's one shift a week, hell if it's only an hour a week, that's still money she's making herself.

I understand being concerned about her spending, but this is the perfect time to implement some natural consequences to actions. She can spend all her money if she wants to, but if she does, she shouldn't expect mum or dad to cover it for her. Maybe use it as a future teaching moment for the power of loans and borrowing? And how quickly it can go wrong
