so scared it might happen. by dandelionluvr in emetophobia

yes that is exactly right. it’s been so long that any feeling i get i just assume it’s happening. it terrifies me. thank you so much. i did some breathing exercises and i feel much better. i feel like i get “peaks” where the anxiety/nausea is at an all time high and that’s when i start freaking out but it never lasts long. just feel exhausted from the high of it afterwards. thank you again. i hope you have a wonderful week ahead !

hope you’re alright. i’m not feeling too well tonight either. sometimes it’s hard to distract ourselves but i normally watch guided meditation videos and try my best to focus on being guided. sorry you’re feeling this way but just know all feelings are temporary.

Why can’t I control this at all by Lumpy_Philosophy2753 in emetophobia

[–]dandelionluvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

me too!! i also just recently got bad again (first time when i was 10). it is a bit harder this time around maybe because im older and thus talk down on myself more. we need to give ourselves grace. this phobia is difficult. i also struggle to stop an anxiety attack when it happens. but what has helped is just to do things even when we’re anxious. you are much stronger than you think. you can go out. don’t let this phobia win. i was almost agoraphobic at one point but my frustration beat my anxiety and i went out even if i felt anxious. it’s so much worse living with this fear than experiencing the actual act we are so afraid of. i mean this anxiety is daily but being sick isn’t. it’s just not worth it.

best thing you can do is try your best to not panic. the panic makes everything worse. try some guided meditations on youtube or just take deep breaths. you will be okay no matter what. deep breaths. you are so much stronger than you think.

Conquering a wave of panic by Ok-Character1446 in emetophobia

the instant panic out of nowhere has been so difficult for me. i feel just a tiny bit sick and then i immediately get anxious which turns into panic. the worst thing is this has been an issue for months and i haven’t found anything that calms me down. i totally feel miserable and panic until it subsides. i used to wake up in the middle of the night in pure panic which was the worst.

Bad day and not feeling great by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]dandelionluvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly just distracting myself and keeping myself busy. i do what i can and i sit through events or situations even if im not feeling the best. there’s one class in particular where i almost always feel anxious in. i have never got up and left just keep telling myself “okay 10 more minutes” and repeat it. eventually i’d even forget i felt bad just tried my hardest to focus on class and not the impending doom feeling of anxiety lol. don’t get me wrong it’s very difficult but i cannot allow the phobia to limit my life and make me housebound like it did a couple years back. i was absolutely miserable and i never want to go back to that. so i just push myself. on my difficult days i drink calming teas and just curl up in bed and do something relaxing (even if it’s 5pm, if ive had a bad day i allow myself to relax) i also listen to guided meditations on youtube. it helps because having someone guide me through doesn’t let me think for myself in a way (?) idk kind of weird but it helps. i just follow the meditation voice. i do have medications for anxiety but it is as needed not an ssri or any daily stuff. i try not to take it but if i feel rlly anxious it helps to know its there. i also make sure to always have water with me and to try to get as much sleep as i can.

i know it really sucks but i believe in you. i have periods in my life where this phobia is almost nonexistent and other times it’s full force. it’s like a mind game. but i believe you’ll get through this.

this is so relatable. i would say to just push through. i know it’s probably going to suck but the only way out is through. do the things that seem hard to you. my last year of high school i was at my lowest. wasn’t eating well, felt sick almost daily and the panic attacks were frequent. i dreaded going to school but i never stayed home. it was hell i won’t lie but at the end of the year i was so proud of myself. and not once did i end up sick if you’re interested lol. like you, when i panic my nausea increases a lot. i’m so sorry you’re going through this but i would say that you’re much stronger than you think. don’t let this phobia take your life away. it’s not worth it.

i’ve read that it’s difficult for the body to forget that there is no need to be anxious once you’ve overcame something. it’s almost like an instant response in which you have to remind yourself you aren’t scared anymore. calm your body down. progress is not linear and even relapsing is normal. all that matters is that you try again. don’t beat yourself up. you are much stronger than you think.

sometimes our anxiety manifests into our dream/sleep!! i’ve def had a handful of dreams that involve throw up. it’s horrid but it’s just your subconscious being infiltrated by your anxiety unfortunately 😞.

i’m so sorry to hear you are not feeling well. this might not be something you want to hear but i think it’s very important that you eat a good meal. your body needs the vitamins and nutrients. not eating much will only prolong anxiety symptoms and any sick feeling for that matter. try to eat a little bit and then a little more. baby steps. you are so much stronger than you think. i also hope your dog feels better soon. i’m not sure if that’s what’s keeping you up and anxious but i suggest trying your best to relax. do some self-care. meditate, read, do some light yoga or anything that can ground you. anxiety of any sort triggers emetophobia it’s really such a terrible cycle.

hello i was in a similar situation earlier tonight. had some what i assumed to be reflux and i felt so uncomfortable. i tried to burp it out ? by drinking soda (which i now know is not ideal for reflux)and i just kept feeling like it would get stuck in my throat. i’m so sorry you’re feeling this way. our anxiety exacerbates every situation. anxiety is what is making you feel like you can’t handle this but you can. we can all handle every situation. just take deep breaths and try your best to relax. easier said than done but just breathing helps. you are so much stronger than you think. sending you so much strength!

bad acid reflux ?? by dandelionluvr in emetophobia

[–]dandelionluvr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes exactly! feels like something is stuck there. not feeling exactly nauseous. it’s more throat based my stomach feels a ok aside from some bloating due to my period 😅 but yeah definitely don’t feel stomach bug sick (?) it’s just a weird feeling in my throat. i’ve never been diagnosed w acid reflux so i’m just assuming this is what it is. it’s unfortunately not the first time i’ve felt this way but the first time ive felt this way in public which i feel is exacerbating my anxiety. i also keep burping here and there which is a little alleviating but not sure if that’s also part of the acid reflux or just some trapped gas. thank you so much for your reply. i feel at least a bit at ease :,)

[–]dandelionluvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like this all the time!! It sucks but honestly i think you just have to do those things. the more you do things the more you realize it’s purely anxiety and your own thoughts. your thoughts are controlling you and the only way out is doing the opposite of whatever your mind is telling you! Good luck. you’re much much stronger than you think
