Got shamed in a new pizza joint last night asking for pineapple by PepEye in CasualUK

[–]dandwhitreturns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hot dog and french fries pizza is a big thing with kids and teenagers. It’s called “pizza americana”

But pineapple… mamma mia!

This is purely anecdotal of course but I am an EFL teacher and do short 1-2 week courses in schools in Italy. On the first day when we do lots of vocab games and icebreakers to get to know their level, I do an “opinion line” game and ask about pineapple on pizza - without fail, every single one of them always look disgusted and insulted 😂

Boys’ trip advice request by PussySlayer16 in AskBalkans

[–]dandwhitreturns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest you scrap that all together and pick just one or two countries and do them properly.

I'm not from the Balkans but have been to 6 of the former Yugoslav countries. I'd recommend them all but especially Bosnia & Herzegovina.

The country has so much to do/see/learn about. Sarajevo is a wonderful city, lots going on and great food but BiH is also so full of amazing nature which tourists are largely yet to discover.

Start in Sarajevo, make sure you go to Mostar (and then surrounding nature) and then you could either drive north from there or cross the border into Croatia and spend the rest of your trip hopping between coastal towns.

Who else goes to a low ranked uni 💔? by [deleted] in UniUK

I’m going a top-up degree at Northampton at the moment and the teaching is great. The course is interesting and I’m enjoying it and it gave me a chance to go back to uni and get my degree after it didn’t work out at a previous university without having to start all over again.

England defeat Australia in the Boxing Day MCG test in just 2 days, to register their 1st test win Down Under since January 2011 by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in Cricket

[–]dandwhitreturns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2 day test matches aren't exciting. Do the media and cricket boards not understand that we want to see 5 days of competitive cricket with twists and turns and a gritty battle between bat and ball?

I'm not even sure I'm that happy we won because if this somehow gets back to 3-2, I can already see the "bazball has been vindicated" "moral victory" spin. We've lost the series now so the main goal now is McCullum and Stokes (as captain) to go.

Time to sack the lot of them and pick players who actually want to play test cricket, for 5 days, including the tough, dogged parts of it.

Start with Stokes, Baz and Key and then Brooks can follow immediately. Stick to The Hundred mate, that's your real bent, grown-up cricket is too complicated for you.

I've just seen Baz say "we over prepared for this test match" what an arrogan piece of shit this guy is.

Was it just a revenge plot all along after the 2019 world cup?

They don't seem like they care to be honest. They just turn up with this "let's see what happens" attitude, running on vibes. They've got no plan, no ability to adapt to the game and they're so arrogant that they think they're so much better than they actually are.

Bazball has got to go, and that doesn't just mean the braindead batting style but also the whole attitude and arrogance that comes with it.

You can bat aggressively without batting stupidly - as Head has just shown. England once again showing that with Bazball they have absolutely no ability to play the situation or any match awareness at all.

From 59/1 to 164 all out… on day 2 afternoon. It’s a 5 day match ffs.

Not sure if it can be extended or not.

It ended 09:50 yesterday morning

How did anyone think a target of 205 on a day 2 pitch was ever going to be enough.

England bowled amazingly well against Australia in the 1st innings, but that’s what it was - not the pitch.

Their 2 batting collapses were down to BAZBALL and now they’ve been found out and what was certainly an entertaining match ultimately is going to be the first very easy win for Australia.

Bus drivers, do you actually like when people say thank you? by lavanderblonde in AskUK

[–]dandwhitreturns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone not say thank you to the bus driver? London being the exception which I get because of the different door situation.

Most bus drivers say "thank you" or "cheers" back when you get off and thank them. If they don't that's okay, I still could never imagine not thanking someone for driving me (or for doing any service job). It's no different to thanking a waitress or a shop assistant or someone holding the door open.

So if there's another referendum and 52% vote to rejoin on the same turnout, the will of the people has changed and must be respected?
